Beach Hotels in Terengganu, Malaysia

We initially had a frustrating experience as our towels were delivered quite late. However, the situation was handled professionally by Manager Iza, who personally delivered the towels to our room and sincerely apologized for the delay. Her prompt action and attention to guests made a positive difference. Overall, the rooms were spacious and comfortable. We booked four rooms and requested them to be located near each other, which the hotel successfully accommodated. However, housekeeping services need improvement, as one of our rooms was not serviced and there were some inconsistencies in room maintenance during our stay. The hotel’s location is excellent and very convenient. It is close to everything we needed, with Restoran Singgang Budu located right beside the hotel. There are also laundry facilities nearby, and plenty of food options within walking distance, making it a great choice for travelers. The staff were friendly, always smiling, and genuinely tried their best to accommodate our requests throughout our stay. While housekeeping could be improved, the service recovery by the management team and the hotel’s strategic location made our overall stay enjoyable.

This hotel is located in the city center. There's a food stall right in front, but it was closed when I was there. It's just across the road. Getting around is easy, especially if you want to walk to the drawbridge. It's not busy on weekdays. The only slight drawback is the parking access. Every time you leave the hotel, you have to inform reception so you don't get charged, but it's cheap, only 2.20.

So, how about PIR? Let's start with the pros. The sea view is unbeatable, and it has its own long stretch of beach. I'd say it's the second-best on Perhentian Island, right after Long Beach, and definitely better than the two beaches below the Marriott. I even saw sea turtles, sharks, Nemo, and schools of fish while snorkeling – very satisfying! There are also monkeys, squirrels, lizards, and other small animals behind the resort. The staff were very helpful, assisting with luggage from the jetty to the room and again at check-out, which was great. PIR also offers water taxi and island hopping tours, and the prices are quite reasonable. You can also walk to other restaurants for meals. A whole fish cost 80 MYR, which is much cheaper than the 200 MYR at the Marriott. Now for the cons. PIR's breakfast is absolutely terrible. Besides fried eggs, I really didn't know what to eat, though the watermelon was decent. Their regular meals are okay, similar in taste to Mama's. The soundproofing is definitely poor; you can hear conversations from the next room and even the sound of the waves. Also, the bed sheets weren't very clean. I'd recommend bringing your own bedding.

Aged establishment. Cleanliness maintained. Limited breakfast food choices and basic quality. I will try nearby villa and homestays instead as they seem new. Actually i didn’t know that there are still limited chargter to Islands after 3pm so no need a night stay.

Things i enjoyed: Clean beach, large pools with playgrounds, friendly staffs. Pools have lifeguards on duty. Huge lobby. Kids fun club is okay. Just that the inflatable playground wasn't very sturdy. Cons: Lack of activities, hallway a big dark at night. One of thhings i wished to do here is atv ride and get a spa massage. But the atv is no longer available. The spas are no longer open. A bit sad. The place have a lot of potential. Went to turtoise information center but no one there. A security staff told us to go to reception for more info but just didn't have enough time to. The place is huge. Food is a bit pricey but i guess its okay for 4 or 5 stars hotel. Just that the taste is average.

I would like to sincerely thank you for the wonderful hospitality, friendliness, and helpful service throughout my wife’s and my stay at Tanjong Jara Resort. From the smooth check-in until check-out, every moment made our stay truly enjoyable, memorable, and relaxing. We had a very happy experience at the resort and would highly recommend Tanjong Jara Resort to our family and friends. It is definitely one of the best resort choices in Terengganu. Special thanks and appreciation to Ai Li, Umah, Haziq, Ruzly, Angel, Amira, Athir, Yusri, Yanna, Khairi, and Aidil for their excellent service, warm hospitality, and dedication in making our stay so pleasant. Summary: Good place to stay if you prefer quiet and tranquility with a beautiful view of the jetty with the boats. However you may need to spend more on transport such as renting a scooter or request for van transfer if you would like to explore the island and get to the beach. Good: 1) Price is lower than resorts situated in Long Beach. 2) Room condition is good. Cleanliness is good, air conditioning is cool and water pressure is strong. 3) The resort itself has adequate facility e.g. swimming pool, simple gym, recreation area and the cafe is acceptable. 4) Staff are courteous and polite. 5) There are cats that roam around the resort but they generally mind their own business and don't bother anyone. 6) A trip to marine park is included, so you can take advantage of it for a snorkeling trip. Bad: 1) Need to rent scooter (RM60 for 24 hour) to travel around. If you want to visit Long Beach you need to take the boat (RM50 per trip), not a big deal for those like us that prefer quiet and peace instead. 2) For some reason on the first day the cleaner asks if we want to do housekeeping. We declined due to want to rest in instead. But on the next day when we request for housekeeping they said they can't do it that day. 3) If you like to snorkel, you will need to travel to Turtle Point by scooter or book a island hopping snorkeling trip. There is a small patch of beach that you can walk to in the resort itself but it is quite close to the jetty so I would not think it is suitable for snorkeling. My suggestion to the resort is if they could provide bicycle for free or by rental for people to travel around. There are some places that is a bit too far to walk to but a scooter ride is overkill.

Overall, it was great value for money. We booked a family suite, which turned out to be a connecting room with a king-size bed and a living area, plus a standard twin room. The room was incredibly spacious – listed at 79 square meters, but it felt even larger – and had fantastic views from the window. Soaking in the jacuzzi tub was pure bliss. The hotel service was also excellent; the shuttle service was always waiting for us ahead of time. Although it's a 2012 hotel, it's very well-maintained, and the room facilities don't show their age. The only two things we found challenging were the mattress and the dining options. My husband and I are used to firm mattresses, and the hotel's beds were a bit too soft for us to get used to. As for dining, there's only the hotel restaurant, and nothing else to eat nearby. Overall, we were very satisfied.

We plan overnight stay for 1 trip to Bukit Diman Trengganu from Klang. My expectations are not high as the resort already 12 to 14 years old. Room are clean but the cabinet cover to small fridge a bit of damage but that is not critical as the fridge is good condition. We walk to near by pasar malam tasted few local delicacies. We had wonderful nasi sup tulang 5 min away and had good rest. Morning breakfast at 6.30am with variety of local foods and usual breakfast treats are tasty. Will stay again if we come to Trengganu.

First of all the location is very strategic.My view is pantai.sangat cantik.. i book 2 deluxe room, for my small family and parents. Bilik parents takde tuala ,even remote tv takde. I call reception ＞5 times,they do answered finally and send to towel. Lambat sikit but still okay.. but but but When i went into my room,the amenties cukup..when i tried to lay down on bed.. ada blood stained😭. I called again receptionist ＞10 times yer..tak angkat. So turun bawah complained within 30 min, tukar bedsheet. Sy tak boleh brain mcm mana boleh ada blood stained.parking itself takde ,ada basement and floor 1-2 shj utk park,memang park jelah merata. Other than that,mknn bnyk cuma tawar sikit haha,tp kenyang dan variety.love it, toilet bersih,aircond mantul,tv semua channel lancar.. sekian my review. Would i repeat again? Hmmmmm
