OOrkhonBThe hotel lobby and breakfast were both very nice. However, we experienced some issues with our room. The double bed was quite small, and the room we were initially assigned did not match the photos shown when booking.
When we raised our concerns, the staff did their best to accommodate us, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the process took quite a long time and involved multiple room changes. The final room we were assigned was much better and met our expectations. Had we been given that room from the beginning, our overall experience would have been significantly more positive.
It seemed that some rooms have been renovated and are much newer, while others are older and less reflective of the images advertised online.

Room is clean, modern and with adequate services and amenities. Bathroom is spacious and nice shower room.
Bed is comfortable, free WiFi and inclusive buffet Breakfast.The buffer Breakfast spread is very good , serving hot English breakfast and continental breakfast.
Within 20 minutes peaceful walk to the town centre. Very convenient.
We are truly happy & satisfied with our stay in the Holiday Inn express Bath , highly recommended!

GGuest UserThe building is old, and there's a lot of noise from the wood and stairs. You can also hear the TV next door and conversations from the street, so there's no soundproofing. I had trouble with this on the first night, but the night staff member (Samuel) was very attentive and changed my room. Overall, it's good value for money.

GGuest UserAttended on Tuesday 27th Feb. Paid a little extra for room with a bath as like the couple ****** we are, we wanted a bath in Bath. My wife's first time ever visiting here. The hotel is a lovely setting, there is history here and all the staff have been wonderful. Close to the station, literally in front of it, and close to everything. Had the great pleasure of having many encounters with Tim, one of the reception staff and I believe concierges. Super pleasant and always helpful.
We had breakfast included and after having that this morning can honestly say it's bang for your buck, with hot food to order including steak and eggs, (best steak my wife has had in the UK), a breakfast grill and a selection of others plus a typical selection of baked goods and fruits. The bar is pleasant and we enjoyed drinks last night before heading up to our room. Strawberry daiquiri we have had many times but the Amaretto sour was an interesting twist with a strong lemon zest.
The only downside to the visit would be the bath/shower experience. Lukewarm bath and cold shower when we attempted it last night. This morning we got hot water for a total of ten mins to share before it went cold again. Not the worst thing all in all but a downside considering the extra pricing for a bathtub room. I was however assured that had I brought it to the desks attention I would have been assisted and I had just done the British thing of not wanting to fuss.
One last perk that made an impact to me; free luggage storage. We checked out early so we could make the best of our time exploring Bath before we ride home. We were offered free luggage storage for even after we checked out so we could come back in quick before our train at 3pm and grab our bags and go, no extra charge. Fantastically useful as the Abbey tour does not allow luggage inside and we wanted to go.
Anyway, thank you to Tim and all the staff at The Royal for making us feel welcomed and our time there special, we will definitely be coming back someday soon and will stay again. - Liam and Jenny Stephenson, Room 109.

GGuest UserExcellent location for exploring Bath.
It's about a 10-minute walk into the centre of Bath, although the walk back up the hill does take its toll on your legs after a few days! That said, it's perfectly manageable, and we chose to walk rather than take transport. There is also a bus, which costs around £4 per person, or an Uber is approximately £7.90.
The room was clean and a good size. We chose a room with a patio, which was perfect on a hot day as you could open the doors and let some fresh air in.
I would recommend trying to include breakfast when booking, as otherwise it's an extra £20 per person. The breakfast was very enjoyable. We had the full English and Eggs Royale, with the option to help yourself to toast, yoghurt, fruit and other items. The croissant was amazing! The young waitress who served us was also very polite, friendly and attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
Parking was £15 per night, which we thought was very reasonable for Bath. I would recommend arriving early to make sure you get a space, as parking is limited. We arrived at around 1pm and there were plenty of spaces available. We were also able to leave our car there from arrival and then check in later that evening at around 8pm, which was really convenient.
The receptionist was very welcoming and friendly both on arrival and when we checked out, which made us feel well looked after throughout our stay.
Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel. It's a great base for exploring Bath, with friendly staff, comfortable rooms and good value parking.

GGuest UserSold as a 5 star hotel and although it did look good from the outside,the inside was very dated and lacking tlc.the bathroom had what looked like black mould around the wall furniture and the sink had been covered in a wrap which was torn and some of the metal fixtures where corroded.the breakfast took over an hour as they seemed to take precedents over vips in the dining room who got food very quickly.from sitting down to receiving our breakfast took an hour both days.the staff where very apologetic but that does t make up for poor service and the quality was average.The Spa was also dated and the Gym was small with very little in it for a proper workout.

GGuest UserThis hotel is part of a chain, so you can count on the quality being consistent across the board. Its prime location in the heart of the old town makes it incredibly convenient for walking to the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, and the River Avon. Despite early May not being peak season, the hotel was quite popular with a high occupancy rate. Breakfast is served on the ground floor in the lobby, and while it can get very busy during peak hours, it's always well-organized. They offer a full English breakfast with all the usual trimmings. The rooms aren't small, but trying to open and lay flat two 28-inch suitcases might feel a bit cramped. We booked two twin rooms and one double room, staying for two nights, and found all the services to be excellent – clean, tidy, and quiet.

GGuest UserOn check in, which was overlong, the staff said Trip.com do not make them aware of a third person staying in the room even though booking clearly stated this. They made up a bed for us immediately. Bed was small and uncomfortable, dipped in the middle. Breakfast was good

GGuest UserWe booked 2 nights for a relaxing spa weekend. Based on it being a spa hotel. We planned on staying in the hotel for the whole weekend.
When we arrived we were told there was no restaurant or bar we can use as it’s only used for events.
We then had some lunch in the spa cafe. Food was ok. Service was terrible.
We then went to the room as we were able to check in. The cleaner was still there. Very apologetic extremely polite and lovely. The room was absolutely wonderful. Large bedroom bathroom and living room.
We went out and found a pub for food. When we returned to relax in the room we found the party was directly below us and in full swing. Very loud and noisy and the smoking area was right outside our window. We called reception but they were fully booked. Glad to say it all stopped at midnight.
We went down to breakfast at 9.30. Not much left and the full breakfast was cold. When we questioned it we were just told”well it has been there since 7” it had just sat on the side in silver trays for 2.5 hours, no heat or option to reheat. It wasn’t edible.
We skipped breakfast that we paid for on the second day.
We then thought we would spend some time in the spa. Ha! Well the pool is small, no where to relax just a couple of plastic chairs, not a spa at all. It had a very small sauna and steam room. The jacuzzi didn’t work it was just a pool of cloudy water with a few bubbles.
Would not recommend. Seems it used to be and could be a wonderful place to be but has been taken over and lost its sole. Such a shame as the building and grounds are wonderful.
I have to add the cleaning staff and lady on reception were wonderful, welcoming and friendly.

GGuest UserAmazing value for money; simple selections of food, compact no frills chalets: could do with a bit of attention to detail with deep cleaning; decent bedding and towels, fantastic and varied entertainment generally throughout the day and late into the evening; most acts are really good. Nice to be able to set up to work remotely in the ballroom during the day and take in the fun that holiday makers are having. The Blue Coats are an engaging team. Drink prices are OK for a setting like this. We are 53 and 58 and on the younger scale of most holiday makers but whatever age, this adult only holiday park delivers quality for money hands down. Bus travels from the road outside the site to Weston Super Mare hourly during the day; beach is just a walk away down the site entrance. Taxi's are affordable if a comfi trip into town is wanted. Can imagine how amazing this establishment will be in summer (and they don't seem to hike the prices to eye watering levels during the warmer months). The range of themed weekday stays (4 days Mon-Fri) and weekend (Fri-Mon) are varied. We need to be in the WSM area for a couple of months - staying at various hotels / establishments, but now we have found Sand Bay, we have chosen to book here for several weeks back to back. For that reason, we have brought our own bedding with us, to personalise our chalet and make it more homely for our extended stay. Reception team are generally welcoming and efficient and Jade the holiday booking team member is ever so helpful. Well done Sand Bay!
