Enjoy this for a short stay with family and young toddlers.
Stated check in at 3pm but when we checked in, room already available, probably it was a Friday. Staff are friendly & polite, with good service. We booked without breakfast because keen to try the foods around but I believe the breakfast also worth it if book together just around RM60 more for 3 pax.
Gym is big with almost everything in it! They have pool for adults to play, but no entry below 16 year old.
The only minus points is the Dino Waterpark within the hotel requires additional payment at RM20 per pax for those above 3 year old. It is not expensive but we thought everything were inclusive.
Location wise really convenient as you can get almost everything downstairs - even the groceries in Lotus supermarket!
Good for location but not exactly cheap. Paid about 120 sgd for a weekday night, carpark is per entry 5rm nett, if getting in and out multiple times may add up to alot for parking.
Breakfast inclusive in booking was average, not fantastic. But overall clean.
Room had some birthday deco (we did not request) and birthday card was name to another person which was weird.
Body soap was also placed outside at basin area which was abit weird and inconvenient.
View was good, managed to see fireworks too on a random weekday night.
5-Star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely impeccable stay! This place is super brand new, spotless, and unbelievably classy from the moment you walk in.
Huge space with a big balcony overlooking the awesome sea view! It made us all smile waking up to it! The home is simple yet beautiful and immaculately clean down to every detail.
The toilet? Super classy and hotel-level luxe. In fact, one of our kids said, It’s like a classy hotel in a homestay!” and they were 100% right!
If you want space, style, and that five-star feel without the hotel price tag, BOOK THIS NOW! My family and I can’t wait to return and will definitely book this again, and check out all their 3- 4 bedrooms units!
Definitely a gem! Don’t miss it!
First time here and absolutely love the hotel
Very clean and great stuff
The rooms were a little small but overall still very good
Just 5 mins walk to mid valley mall
Breakfast was one of the best I’ve tried in Jb. Had so much of choices. And very nice too

Will definitely go again
Very happy

Mixed Experience – Good Service Recovery but Initial Handling Could Be Better
I recently stayed at Holiday Villa Johor Bahru City Centre and had a mixed experience.
For the first two nights, we suspected the room was not properly cleaned as both my husband and I experienced continuous sneezing throughout the stay. I reported this to the front desk after the first night, but no action was taken or escalated. Unfortunately, we had to endure a second uncomfortable night before I raised the issue again to the duty manager.
I must commend the duty manager for her prompt and decisive action — she arranged an immediate room change, which made a significant difference. This level of service recovery was appreciated. However, it is unclear why the initial concern was not escalated earlier by the front desk, which could have prevented unnecessary discomfort.
On a positive note, when I fell sick during the stay, the front desk staff were thoughtful enough to send porridge and warm water to my room — a kind gesture that I truly appreciated.
The hotel’s location is very convenient, and the breakfast selection varies daily, which is a plus. A special mention to the egg station staff — they were consistently friendly and attentive, handling every request with a smile even during busy periods.
Check-out was smooth and efficient.
Overall, while there were some lapses in initial handling, the service recovery and certain staff members’ efforts stood out.
The room is very nice. We like that we can cast from our phone.
The check in was delayed by 2 hours. The staff was very helpful. He gave us all complimentary breakfast. But the breakfast was bad. Too much processed food - chicken nuggets, ham ,etc. too much sugar - donuts, soya milk was too sweet, fruit drinks were too sweet, except for the fresh orange, cucumber and pineapple juice. Those were great. It's definitely not worth the price for our family. St Giles, Opero, Holiday Inn Express at Komptar, Hilton all have better and healthier breakfast.
The swimming pool has too many sharp corners near the children area.
The hotel's location is great, with plenty of food options nearby, and they even accept WeChat Pay, which is very convenient for Chinese travelers. The room was clean, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. Breakfast used to be a buffet, but for some reason, it's now à la carte. I tried to ask why, but they didn't seem to understand. In the end, they made me a plate, and it tasted pretty good.

I’ve been a regular guest at Sunway Big Box Hotel for over a year, and my stays have consistently been excellent.
During my latest visit, I was assigned a second-level room, 219 to be specific, for the first time. There was a bathroom issue where some shower water flowed outwards, instead of inwards, towards the toilet drainage, due to poor workmanship. Hence the toilet tiles are wet and slippery after each shower session.
Aside from this, everything else—cleanliness, comfort, and service—remained as good as usual.

Small room with no wardrobe (clothes hang on open hangers), luggage left on floor(no bench) and very noisy at nite due to pub playing music till late. Dont take room facing Zenith lifestyle centre with Macregor pub at ground floor outside.
No hand soap provided only shower gel and shampoo
Good location few minutes walk to JB Sentral and Komtar JBCC and JB city square malls.
Breakfast with limited choice with western and asian foods. But nice Coffee machine for latte, capuccino, etc.

Super convenient. Nothing short of excellent - location-wise. Room was neat, clean and big for a standard. Water pressure was strong which afforded a good shower with basic amenities provided (eg toothbrush set). AC strong and working. Malls and CIQ just next to hotel. Breakfast buffet was good with a variety of local and western spread. Staff was polite and professional. What more can you ask for? Will most likely return to stay here.

KKoh Luke ThengI had a wonderful stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and very professional. The check-in process was smooth, and the famous warm DoubleTree cookie made the arrival even more pleasant.
The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable, with a beautiful view of the city. I especially appreciated the comfortable bed and the well-maintained facilities. The housekeeping team did a great job keeping everything spotless.
The hotel location is also very convenient, with easy access to nearby shopping malls, restaurants, and the CIQ checkpoint. The breakfast buffet had a good variety of options and the food quality was excellent.
Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable stay. I would definitely recommend DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru to anyone visiting Johor Bahru and look forward to staying here again in the future

YYL_SnoopyIf you like a quiet, cosy place that give you a resort feel, then this hotel will be a good choice.
Initially booked this hotel is because wanting to try the Gem Spa, as previously I tried their other outlet which was very good. But sadly due to time constraints, we didn't manage to go the spa.
What I like about this hotel is, there is a hard rock within the hotel. So if you do not want to travel 15mins out, then you can actually chill and eat there.
The room is cosy but sadly that even I had booked the sea view, the view was not directly. I was allocated a room that faced the road and far right is the sea. But the plus point is I have a bathtub.
Overall the service is good, breakfast is average and the occupancy of the hotel is high but you do not feel crowded.
JJust good enoughI was there for 3 nights, booking 2 rooms with queen size bed.
It was a less than satisfactory experience. I specifically requested for rooms away from elevators but they gave me 2 rooms that are right next to their employee elevator. So it means, the elevator is in between of the 2 rooms that I booked for my parents and I. No doubt, the employee elevator meant less activity but it's still next to the elevator where ppl could easily come up and down.
Secondly, we were unable to get the key card to open the door to the corner room that is for my parents. Took 1 trip down to concierge to inform them about the problem. They programmed the key card again and problem still exists. Only after I told them to relocate my parents to a different floor that they mentioned that the battery in the scanner of the door ran out so they have to get technician to change them. So, that left a bad impression from the getgo.
Thirdly, once we got on that floor, it smelled bad. I had to get housekeeping to spray air-freshener to get rid of the smell. I believe it from the drainage, where if water wasn't used or flushed down, it can start to smell. So my question was, how long was the room toilets not cleaned or flushed? If the rooms were occupied, surely it shouldn't smell.
Fourth, the pool was not what is expected of a hotel pool. Even a boutique hotel pool look better than that. But I don't care too much about pools as I am looking for good place to rest after spending a lot of time sightseeing when I'm traveling.
Fifth, noise insulation wasn't good. I could hear the guest in the next room snoring from my room. Let alone if the guest spoke loudly, I could hear.
The staff were polite and kind for the most part. One or 2 staff may not know certain things but they are probably new to the job and are on training. Not a big matter.
It is situated in a good location. It is 20-25 mins away from Johor city square. It is in a nice suburban neighbourhood, but within a commercial round area with a park in the middle. There is even a big Aeon Mall right opposite the hotel. Traffic isn't bad going into that area.
If you're looking to spend a lot of time in the room during your travel, this is not the one for you. If you want a comfortable room to rest for the night, this is good enough.

CCandace KThe gym, though small, was well-equipped with towels and bottled water. The kids' play area clearly hadn't been tidied up after use, and no one seemed to be cleaning it. It was also incredibly hot in there, with no AC remote in sight. As for the breakfast buffet, it had everything you'd expect, but the only downside was the lack of staff to seat or guide guests. On our first morning, we had to stand next to other tables and wait for a spot to open up 😅. Our room had a QR code for requests, and when we used it, staff were very quick to help with any issues. The only minor flaw was some dust in the room; I actually felt a bit itchy the first night. We were in the East Wing, which honestly felt more like a serviced apartment than a hotel, yet they didn't even provide dish soap 😅😅.
GGuest User1st impresion is the security are superb. They are veryw welcoming and polite!!! They try their very best to serve us. Front desk are good. The only negative for myself is need stronger or harder pillow. Otherwise all are ok. Gym room are well equip. Nearby have SKS mall, opposite have Marlee supermart. A lot of local eateries around. They have a small loudge to chill too. Overall, I am satisfied.
BBryan FangLovely stay here. Wanted to give it a try since it is the latest hotel in JB.
Lobby on ground floor while check-in reception on the 5th floor.
A cafe, club lounge, noodle restaurant and the breakfast restaurant are located on the 5th floor too.
Gym, swimming pool, kids wet playground and function/ballrooms are on the 6th floor.
We stayed in a normal deluxe room. 39m²
Spacious with sitting area and table. Spacious toilet as well. Toilet with bidet. Shower with both rain and handheld shower head. Large dressing table equipped with a lighted face mirror, hairdryer and a variety of toilet amenities.
View from the 12th floor was great. Facing the taman pelangi. Unblocked views.
Staff were all friendly and polite. Many of them greeted us whenever we pass by.
Carpark entrance is on the left side of the hotel building. Carpark is shared with the shopping mall which is stated to open soon in April.
Do let the reception know that you are driving. State your carplate number and be entitled unlimited ins and outs during your stay
Well recommended. Paid 189sgd for a Friday night

AahshanStayed at Sand & Sandals Resort in Desaru and it was such a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The resort has a spacious, tropical vibe with big rooms, comfy beds, and a nice balcony to unwind. The pool area is great for chilling, and the beach is just a short walk away — perfect for morning strolls and golden hour photos.
Service was friendly, and the location made it easy to get around for food, activities, and day trips. It’s a solid choice if you want a fuss-free, beachside stay that feels calm and refreshing.
Overall, a pleasant resort for couples, families, or a girls’ trip getaway. 🌊💛
