Very satisfied, very amazing! The hotel was originally built in 1967 and designed by Asia's most outstanding architect, Geoffrey Bawa. The hotel reopened in December 2019, trying to preserve the original appearance of Bawa's buildings, recreating the famous batik ceiling entrance, and the brass peacock sculpture created by Laki once again stands on the stair railings of the restaurant. The 30 rooms in the main building have been converted into 16 suites, L-shaped, overlooking the Indian Ocean to the west and the Bentota River to the north. If you are an architect, it is recommended to stay in a suite, because the other two guest rooms are newly built later. We talked to Bawa at the front desk, and the hotel employee Sanduri gave a forty-minute tour, telling us every detail, trying to number each brick and then rebuild it as it was. In short, everything was very touching.

We visited during off-season, so there were very few other guests. The first morning we had an unusual ”set” breakfast, which was understandable as no buffet was offered when there were so few guests. Water pressure/temperature was unstable and there was a weird pulsating noise in the bathroom. On the positive side, the staff were very nice, friendly, and helpful. It's a lovely estate in absolute terms and stunning in relative terms. Very near the trendy fort area, which is worth a visit. Overall pleased.

The environment, facilities and services are all very good. It is the most satisfactory hotel for this trip and also the most expensive. The double room we booked was originally charged 150 US dollars for an extra person, but in the end, the total of the extra person and the breakfast we ordered was only more than 700 RMB. It is very close to Yala, but the road to drive in is very rugged, and the car we booked was very difficult to drive.
If you go to Yala in the morning, the hotel can pack breakfast, but that breakfast is very unpalatable. Later, we ordered food after we came back (charged), and the food we ordered was very delicious. Just ask the waiter for recommendations.
It is not unsafe as some reviews say, and we didn't even encounter a 🐒. We went out late at night to take pictures of the beautiful starry sky, but the staff also came to remind us to pay attention to safety.

The all-inclusive price is particularly refreshing. You can eat or drink whenever you want. However, the hotel is relatively old and the swimming pool closes early, only at 7 or 8 p.m.

Amanwella Great experience! There are 30 suites, chatting with the housekeeper. In the past, Europeans, Americans and Indians came the most. This year, Chinese people came a lot. November to April is their peak tourist season, and when the house prices are at their highest, prices can go up. The service is nothing to say. The beach is not suitable for swimming in October. We recommend the safari park and lagoon projects. You can see many birds and animals. The Bhutanese manager is very nice. If you have any needs, tell him and he will arrange it directly. The disadvantage is that it is a bit far from the airport, a 3-3.5 hour drive. Unlike Aman in other countries, airport pick-up and drop-off require additional fees.

Departed for Sri Lanka on September 28, 2023, and checked into the Amangalla Hotel in Galle Fort. It was the sixth Aman hotel to check in. It felt great. Amangalla was built in the 17th century. It was formerly a military command in the Netherlands. It later became the first hotel in Sri Lanka. It was acquired by the Aman Group in 1995. The hotel is not big, but it is well-equipped with swimming pools, massage pools, yoga rooms, etc. , you can experience local shaving services and foot massages.
Amangalla is the smallest Aman I have ever stayed in. It is in the middle of the ancient city of Galle and a 10-minute walk from the lighthouse. The surrounding area is very convenient for eating, drinking and entertainment. There is the Tuna and the Crab restaurant, which is a brother restaurant of the one-Michelin-star restaurant in Colombo. If you have enough money, you can try it.
Be sure to choose his tea plantation tour, which will also take you to see the sea turtle hatching base and stilt fishing. It was very interesting. Although I fell off and stepped on a rock while fishing on stilts and was injured, I gained interesting photos and a rare life experience. The ancient city of Galle is also worth visiting. Amangalla can arrange cars and tour guides. The hotel is right in the center of the ancient city. The location is good and it is very convenient to go everywhere. Although I fell into the sea while fishing on stilts and cut my feet. All in all, it was still a very interesting experience.
The two Amans in Sri Lanka are different from the ones we stayed in before. They are far away from Colombo and do not provide free airport pick-up services. The airport pick-up fee for the five of us was about US$400 in a large amanganla. It should be noted that if two Aman activities are booked for consecutive days, they generally need to be booked from the official website, not Ctrip agents.

Really enjoyed my stay at fort bazaar. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Due to the rainy weather down south I changed my plans to go to Tangalle and stay a couple of extra days at Fort Bazaar and enjoyed the spa and walking around Galle.
I was a solo traveler and felt safe and comfortable there.
Definitely somewhere I would consider to stay again

Сам отель неплохой, именно в этом районе подобных мало. Большой номер, вид отличный, завтрак стандартный, персонал старается. Сам пляж именно перед отелем не очень, но если пройтись левее, там уже поинтереснее. Справа грязноватая рыбацкая деревня. Рядом есть различные кафе, можно что-нибудь выбрать.
