Staff were friendly on arrival and in restaurant in the evening. Location fairly easy to get to if arriving by bus at the airport (10min walk) as signposted. Breakfast available from 4am but not as good as last time, although lots of options (no mushrooms nor fried eggs). We paid the extra for a runway view, worth it if you're an aeroplane fan.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel. First off, the triple room photos online were misleading and didn't match the actual room, which put us in an unsuitable space. Secondly, the hotel's service attitude was very average; we could never get through to the front desk when calling. While the room initially seemed okay, we discovered later that the cleanliness was poor, with colored stains on the towels. The only upside is its location, being the closest hotel to the airport. Unless you absolutely need to stay near the airport, I'd advise against it.

Our stay was really good as I was worried being a holiday Inn , but how wrong was it supassed all my expectations from the quality of food to the amenities to the welcoming of the staff when you walk through the door. Would I stay here again? Definitely we had the best weekend using the spa facilities the Marco Perry restaurant and all the other amenities that were available. It was a Very pleasant stay and we were made to feel very welcome. The rooms were really lovely. We got free upgrade when we arrived which was a lovely thing as it was my birthday. They're just really lovely. The beds were comfortable. There were extra pillows if you needed them as well . The only thing is you have to pay for your parking there which was quite expensive. £24, but you know apart from that everything else was really lovely and we really enjoyed our weekend. The swimming pool , Sauna jacuzzi, and steam room was great way to spend our last afternoon and all free , they also provided you with towels . The breakfast was lovely lots of choice and there is a Marco Perrie restaurant on site , but there was also another menu if you wanted something more simpler to eat to sit around the bar area .

We stayed here because we had a very early flight from Stansted and needed to be at the airport around three hours before departure. Travelling with a child, having a hotel close to the airport made things much easier and meant we did not have to travel in the middle of the night. The hotel has a shuttle bus to the airport. It costs £4 per adult and children travel free. This is not really a criticism of Novotel specifically, but I do feel airport hotel shuttle buses should ideally be included in the room price. The hotel itself did the job. It is quite tired looking and could use some updating. We stayed during a very hot period and there was a slightly stale smell in the hotel, although I can understand that the heat probably did not help. The air conditioning in the hotel was not very strong, but it was enough to take the edge off. The main positive is that, as a large chain hotel, it has everything you need for a short airport stay. The staff were also very friendly throughout. Overall, it was fine for one night before an early flight and served its purpose well.

From the moment we arrived, the reception staff were professional and welcoming. They resolved a small issue quickly and without any fuss. Our room was spotless, and the overall cleanliness of the hotel was excellent. The bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. Breakfast was delicious with a great variety on offer. A very pleasant stay overall.

I booked a last minute night away with the children: afternoon tea followed by an overnight. The afternoon tea was delicious and I was really well catered for as a vegan diner. The Grand Hall was a beautiful setting for afternoon tea. The children also loved their food - the sandwiches were much simpler for the children and they got seconds based on how delicious they were. Our room was large and had a sofa bed and a cot bed. We enjoyed playing in the grounds including the play area, outdoor chess, boules, the scavenger hunt and the fitness trail. My son also loved playing football in the garden - he was excited that there were goals set up. We had dinner in The Fox Bar and had drinks and played cards in the Grand Hall afterwards. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. We were really excited to find newts in the pond. They would love to stay again. I would love to come for an overnight with my partner to experience it differently without the children.

I recently stayed at Holiday Inn Colchester and overall had a positive experience. The hotel was very clean throughout and the reception staff provided excellent service, they were friendly, efficient and welcoming.  However, the jacuzzi was not operational during my stay, which was disappointing as it was one of the facilities I was looking forward to using.  Despite this, the cleanliness and quality of service made the stay comfortable. 

The hotel is not bad, clean, good service attitude

Staff were great all very friendly Room was spacious wardrobe big enough for a 4 yr old to sleep in ( excuse my humour ) and very clean Evening meal portions great food very tasty & staff looked after granddaughter well with keeping her occupied . Breakfast was a little of a let down as under the warmer food was still cold and bacon very dry … cheese was dried up with the cold meats only I flavour yoghurt I wish I had ordered off the fresh cooked menu of eggs selection ( but I never left hungry ) Despite second paragraph I would defo return

The reception staff were outstanding and very helpful and knowledgeable throughout my stay.  However I booked a birthday lunch for my sister and we had to cover our food while eating due to what seemed like an inversion of flies when the food arrived. In honesty it was not a good experience while eating.  Unfortunately the flies and moths continued in my room - this wasn’t just a few flights and I was not able to sleep until pass midnight.  The reception staff again was excellent in addressing the issues very quickly by removing them.
