This hotel was perfect for our family trip! We put a blanket on the floor for the baby to sleep on. It was really cute seeing our family walk around in matching outfits! In the evening, we went for a swim in the rooftop pool – it was the best!

Exiting the East ticket gate of the station, cross the traffic light and walk straight for a few minutes, then turn left. You'll see the new building first, and the gray building next to it is the hotel. The hot spring is on the top floor of the new building, and you'll need your room card to use the elevator. It's quite convenient.

This hotel is a bit far from JR Oita Station, and it can be tiring to walk back and forth if you're using it as a transfer point between Beppu and Yufuin. It's an older hotel that's been renovated, but the furniture is still old, and the bedding comfort is just average; the duvet was too thick. The room size is quite large for Japan. We specifically booked a room with a sofa bed for our child, but it was small and hard, and our child refused to sleep on it after an hour. There's a large 24-hour supermarket near the hotel with good prices, which is convenient for buying daily necessities. Across the street is a school, and the Nikko Hotel is not far next door. Oita Art Museum and the pedestrian street are within walking distance.

ANA InterContinental BEPPU RESORT & SPA by IHG

After reading other reviews, they were all overwhelmingly positive. Having stayed in numerous hotels, the ANA InterContinental Beppu definitely ranks in my top three. First, let's talk about transportation: Beppu Station is quite small. Remember to exit from the West Exit (this was told to us by the hotel shuttle driver; apparently, many international guests wait for a long time at the East Exit only to find out it's the West Exit). The hotel is about a twenty-minute drive away. Next, the service: What was really surprising is that more than half of the hotel staff are non-Japanese. Every single foreign staff member spoke excellent Japanese, with perfect mastery of honorifics. Finally, the room facilities: The onsen (hot spring bath) is small but beautiful. The infinity pool isn't very deep, making it suitable for children. It was still a bit chilly in March, but luckily, there's a warm pool nearby where you can soak for a while. The restaurant offers great value for money. Children aged 6-12 get half price, which is around 2,700 yen. In the evening, there's an all-you-can-drink option for adults at 5,000 yen, including sparkling wine, house wine, shochu, and beer.

Had a clean and efficient service experience. Don’t miss the chance to visit the onsen during sunrise and sunset—the simply breathtaking scenery enhances my relaxation. Although the layout of the room is rather inconvenient, it's generally clean but a little aged. Best recommend to take the seaview for sunrise or sunset from your bathroom .

No car? No problem! Right next to Beppu Station, there's a dedicated waiting room for the hotel, so you don't have to worry about rain or snow. Plus, there's a free shuttle bus every 20 minutes. The hotel is situated on a hill, offering expansive views from all common areas. Inside, there's a large gift shop and a game center, perfect for both adults and children. Even though my room had a mountain view, I had no regrets; seeing the misty mountains and the steam from the hot springs was very characteristic of Beppu. Of course, the most important part is the hot springs! I'm not sure if there are private baths, but the public bathhouse was already fantastic! There are three large outdoor tiered pools, so even with a lot of people, it doesn't feel crowded or awkward. They overlook the bay, and the front-most pool even allows you to lie down – I really loved that spot. There are also several smaller single-person pools. The sauna was surprisingly in the outdoor area too; although small, it also offered sea views. And there were at least three cleaning staff constantly tidying up, keeping both the pools and floors very clean. I soaked in the hot springs three times during my one-night stay ♨️ – it was incredibly relaxing! Dinner was a buffet with a wide variety of dishes, and you could drink as much beer, red wine, white wine, and sake as you wanted! All the desserts were delicious. One more thing: even though I didn't take photos, I noticed many child-friendly details, such as a kids' food corner and utensils at the buffet, and changing tables in the hot spring changing rooms. It was my first time seeing this at a hot spring hotel, which is quite rare. I took the wrong train when I arrived, delaying my plans for an entire day. Combined with the rain, traveling solo, without a car, and not wanting to walk around in the wet, I only did one thing in Beppu: I just enjoyed the hotel 😹. Booking a good hotel is really important; my mood completely improved once I got here 🫶🏻

The capsule was clean and very well-located, less than a 10-minute walk from Beppu Station and just 5 minutes from Takegawara Onsen, where you can enjoy a unique sand bath! The on-site onsen with a sauna, which is included in the price, was a fantastic amenity. Just one thing to note: there are no showers on the capsule floor, so you'll need to use the facilities within the onsen area.

I stayed two nights in a room on the 9th floor, so here's my experience. In terms of facilities, the hotel is relatively new and the amenities are quite good. The reception is located in a villa, presumably an extension of an older building, which adds a unique charm. There are only two suites per floor, so the rooms are very spacious. The indoor onsen (hot spring bath) was particularly impressive and very comfortable. The large public bath is in another building a three-minute walk away, located on the first floor as an infinity pool; I recommend experiencing it at sunset – it's wonderful. As for the food, the kaiseki cuisine here is of extremely high quality, the best of the two hotels I stayed at in Beppu. The restaurant, Matsushu, in the new building, consists entirely of private rooms, the number of which seems to correspond to the number of rooms. Japanese breakfast and dinner are enjoyed in these private rooms, which is very pleasant. I also tried their buffet breakfast in another building, which was quite good, especially the high-quality fruit. Location-wise, there's a bus stop right outside. Whether you're going to Beppu Station, Kannawa Onsen, or a large shopping mall, you only need to take one bus, which is very convenient. Overall, it was a very memorable stay and I would definitely return.

This is a boutique hotel with only 5 rooms, the small one is more than 70 square meters, and the large one is more than 100 square meters. The price is relatively expensive, but we were fully booked during our stay. The hotel is located in a layered garden with a very sense of design. There is a small green landscape outside each room. The room has a living room, dining room, bedroom, bathroom, toilet, large pool hot spring, shower room and sauna room, and two small platforms. The wine, snacks, ice cream, etc. in the bar are all free. There is also a one-hour free spa. Breakfast is in its own restaurant. We stayed for two nights. The first dinner was in its own restaurant. The second night was in the hotel's exclusive restaurant that was not open to the public. The Japanese chef only served us and our husband. We have absolute private space and will not meet other guests in the hotel. When we checked in, the hotel had just opened for 3 months and was still in the running-in period, but we could feel that the staff were very dedicated and wanted to provide the best service. Our account manager and housekeeper Eliena was very thoughtful, available at any time, and had no problem communicating in English. Question: 1. The room design needs to consider the safety of customers. For example, the bed in the bedroom is on a half-foot high platform. Although there is a floor lamp, it is easy to step on empty space when getting up at night. In addition, there are three steps from the bedroom to the hot spring, bathing and other areas. The steps are cement gray. Although not high, they are easy to be ignored. 2. Although there is a glass partition door, the hot spring water and hot spring related equipment are quite loud at night. It is very uncomfortable to fall asleep on the first night. Guests with sleep problems can negotiate with the hotel to turn off the hot spring at night so that the water will not flow.

I stayed in a smoking room. I'm a smoker so it was good because there are only non-smoking rooms available these days. The breakfast was also delicious and I ate too much. The hotel staff were always smiling and helpful so I was very satisfied.
