Port Macquarie Homestays

What has happened to Sails Port Macquarie?I have stayed here numerous times for events and holidays and it is sad to see the level of service and the detioration of the room and furnishings that has occured. After charging $647 .00 a night (event pricing) which I was aware of,another charge of $10 a night for unsecured parking was applied also. The balcony ballastrade was covered in cobwebs and the room on check in had an apple core on the floor that was not removed until our last night. Staff used to be friendly and acknowledge you when you walked past check in but not now it is just heads down etc. Very overpriced in all aspects which is such a pity as I have enjoyed all my other stays here with no complaints'.

Food here is solid pub grub that tastes great and is reasonably priced considering location. This review rating however is highly affected by the accommodation which is spartan for the price charged. Bed was decent however very hard to get to sleep with noise outside from drunk folks at 2am. They advertise there is air conditioning but that would appear to be so for the pub and bistro only downstairs. Our triple with ensuite had no airconditioning (only a wall mounted convection heater) and a ceiling fan which only worked at a gale force speed (with attendant noise issues) or barely any air movement at all. Come here for the friendly service and food and drinks at the bar/bistro, but stay here only if you have no other choice in the middle of summer in Port Macquarie.

Stayed one night in a single room (not shared with other people). The room was on the small side but spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. An air conditioner would have helped as the fan was not quite enough to cool the room down. Ozzie Pozzie is about a fifteen to twenty minute walk to the centre of town (depends on your walking speed). It is set in beautiful gardens with bright, colourful eating and leisure areas. Would definitely suit young travellers.

The hotel location is good, the facilities are complete, clean and tidy, and the rooms are large. Google Maps seems to be set too inaccurately. The navigation suddenly ran to a barren place. Fortunately, I finally found it. Departing from Sydney, it was late, and it was already midnight. We greeted the front desk in advance and said that we would arrive later. The front desk said that it was okay to leave the room door unlocked and put the keys on the table in the store. When I went to the room, the door was locked, and I went to find the front desk staff (not the person who answered my phone during the day was a Chinese man). He was already asleep. When I woke him up, he was very upset and scolded him to find The key, even said, ”This is not China, we do not accept overnight stays, and leave before 10 am”. My fellow citizens, we should feel lucky to meet Chinese people in other countries. Foreigners respect us Chinese people, but Chinese people bully Chinese people instead. Then go to Macquarie, Australia to bypass this shop. The feeling of being insulted by foreign Chinese is really uncomfortable.
