The staff was very welcoming and spoke both Japanese and English.
You need to contact the hotel in advance for a pick-up from Kaga Station, but I hadn't received a confirmation from Ctrip when I left. So I called the hotel from the station and they arranged for a pick-up. It's a bit far, a 20-minute drive each way, but otherwise, everything was very satisfactory. The room was riverside, larger than your average Japanese hotel room, and had its own private bathroom. The onsen overlooked the mountains and forests, which was very comfortable! Dinner and breakfast were small but delicious, with the hand-painted menus, which were very elegant.
Kanazawa is a treasure of a city, definitely worth a visit.
**Pros and Cons**
Many reviews have already covered the hotel's advantages, so I'll focus on its drawbacks. First, it's not close to the station; it's a 20-minute walk with heavy luggage, though there's a bus stop nearby with routes to some attractions. After checking out, we took a taxi directly to Kanazawa Station for our Shinkansen, which cost 900 yen.
Secondly, as it's a Japanese hot spring hotel, you have to take off your shoes at the entrance and lock them in a locker. You walk barefoot in the lobby and elevators, which I found a bit unhygienic.
Upon arrival, I noticed that with so many guests, I couldn't guarantee the cleanliness of the large public bath, so I decided not to use it.
Overall, this is a very unique Japanese hotel, and the breakfast absolutely beats any chain hotel. If you don't mind the points above, it's a worthwhile choice!
It was my first time to experience a Japanese-style room. It was clean and tidy. The house was old but not old, which was great! The space was large and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel had two public hot springs. Although they were not big, they were quite comfortable. I went there during off-peak hours and it was just like a private hot spring.
The hotel is old and the room is clean but not well cleaned especially the corners of the room. The room is old and dull and the toilet smells bad. The balcony is covered with bamboo screen which make hard to see the outside. We can see the balcony is not well cleaned and the rooftop of the building is not well cleaned, too. If they clean the balcony and rooftop it will make a big difference. The fence at the balcony is worn out if they repainted it,it will be very beautiful seeing from the inside. I dont care if the building is old but they should keep it well cleaned and more presentable and im sure people will come again. The food is good and the bathing facilities is also good but its too hot no air at all, i didnt stay long because i cant breath i wish they open the window for fresh air to come. the atmosphere from the window the dried mold of the rooftop and the worn out of the balcony fence should be fix.The place is very quiet and you can really relax. The main entrance and ground floor is renovated and its nice and modern. The service is good too but the clerks are not lively they should be more cheerful.
If the room is not dull and the balcony and rooftop is clean i want to stay again but sorry i wont stay here again.
Thank you for your service and Goodluck.
”An old five-star hotel next to Kanazawa Ancient Castle”
The hotel is located in a quiet location, next to Kanazawa Castle Park, the largest park in Kanazawa. Kanazawa's public transportation is not very developed, and there are not many tram lines. It is more convenient to arrive at the hotel by taking the hotel's own shuttle bus. There are 5 buses starting from 10:50 a day, and the last bus is at 16:20. It costs about 1,000 yen to take a taxi. The distance is not far and it is not expensive.
From the moment you step into the lobby, you can feel the hotel's sense of history. The decoration is more Western-style and low-key and luxurious. The hotel has only 6 floors in total. We live on the executive floor on the 6th floor, and we are given a drink and breakfast for each person in the afternoon.
The hotel service staff has a good attitude, which is a typical Japanese service. On rainy days, someone will send and collect umbrellas. The English level is acceptable and can communicate basically.
There is a public hot spring on the first floor of the hotel. The male pool is not large and can accommodate several people, but fortunately there don't seem to be many people. This hotel does not exchange male and female baths, so you can only experience one.
This Japanese-style hot spring hotel is fully equipped and the lobby is quite luxuriously decorated. We arrived early and enjoyed free afternoon tea and foot soup first. At three o'clock, a waiter in a kimono guided us to the door of the room, which was very intimate. After the bath, we had dinner on the 2nd floor of the hotel at the time we had booked in advance. The dinner was a standard kaiseki dish and was very hearty. Each family had their own private dining space and was equipped with a dedicated full service. At 9 pm, the hotel arranged a local Taigu performance in Kaga for the guests, which was very special. The whole experience was very satisfying.
There's a public bath with a happy hour bar from 5-8 pm, perfect for a drunken getaway. It would be even better if it stayed out later. The surrounding amenities are quite convenient, and everything is pretty good. The bed comfort is average, neither particularly good nor bad. Various pillows are available in the lobby. The code key makes it easier to remember your room key or room key. The TV offers a variety of media and is quite modern. Recommended.
This hotel is great! The rooms are very well soundproofed and quiet. The congee and dim sum for breakfast were delicious. Any service requests were handled quickly, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended!
The hot spring water quality is very good, all aspects of service are also better in most hot spring hotels, dinner is not bad, rice is better than other hot spring hotels, the restaurant is also separated separately, this price is still very fragrant
Look no further, Mori no Sumika Resort and Spa is absolutely wonderful! The staff are amazing, the rooms are spacious and well appointed, the property to include the hot springs baths is excellent - the food offerings for breakfast and dinner changes each day, the chef serving the freshest seafood, meats, vegetables. It’s a beautiful place that you’ll never want to leave and for sure come back to sooner than later.

GGuest UserThe equipment of this room was very attractive as I saw it in the photos on Trip.com. I saw that some rooms had a thin hot spring basin, so I chose this room. I was so happy that I could soak in the hot spring in the room. How did I know that there was no such equipment when I arrived in the room? After I went to the front desk to find out the situation, after dealing with them for a while, they just said that the information on the Trip.com website was wrong. This was a photo of another room and had nothing to do with their hotel. .
Therefore, I advise everyone who plans to book a hotel on Trip.com not to trust the photos and information on the Trip.com website!

GGuest UserClose to the station, but the location is good in a quiet environment. There are sushi restaurants and convenience stores nearby, so you don't have to worry about eating. There was also a famous pastry.

JJingyouxinzao^_^If you like hot springs, this should be a good choice. The hotel is good in all aspects, the service is very good, and the hotel hardware is also good. The hotel has its own hot springs. There is a Meiji-era hot spring outside the door that seems to be quite good. It is free for hotel guests. Yes, the price includes breakfast and dinner. The quality is very good. After staying for two days, I felt that I was full after the second meal. If you don’t like hot springs, it is suitable to experience a Japanese-style hotel. We don’t like hot springs. After staying for two nights, I felt like I had nothing to do 😂 😂 😂
