The hotel is near the train station. Turn right and then right again after exiting the station and walk for five minutes to the destination. It is a 20-minute drive from Machu Picchu Scenic Area. The hotel service is great👍It is an unexpected surprise hotel, located 2020 meters above sea level, between the highlands and the rainforest, with 50 hectares of private botanical gardens, the most famous of which is the orchid garden, with as many as 372 varieties. The hotel arranges various activities at different times, and is equipped with plant experts to take me to see various orchids and how to make tea with plants. At the same time, I was fortunate to see the Peruvian national bird, the cock-of-the-earth. The only regret is that the check-out time is ten o'clock in the morning.

Visited for my birthday in late April 2024 and it was a magical experience. The hotel is situated across the river in Agua Calientes set amongst the trees. You really feel like you are in the jungle but at a five star resort. You have to cross one of two bridges to enter or exit the hotel and it really feels like it’s its own little oasis. The rooms are bungalow style and are quite large with fireplaces. Breakfast and dinner is covered in your stay and everyone eats in the same dining hall down near the river. They have two heated pools and one non-heated and also have a spa. The only part that we didn’t like is they ask that you throw away your toilet paper instead of flushing it, which is new for Westerners. The idea of throwing away used toilet paper in a trashcan was not my favorite part, but I can deal with almost anything when I am traveling. I would say this is by far the best hotel in Aguas Calientes, after the Belmond right at the entrance of Machu Picchu, however, it is twice as expensive as Inkaterra. The third best option would be Sumaq. We were lucky enough to get a light rainstorm shortly after getting into our room for the night on day one and it was the best sleep soundtrack I have heard in a long time. All the orchids, flora, and fauna surrounding our room really made it a magical experience. I would suggest to anyone traveling to Machu Picchu, especially anyone who appreciates a unique five star hotel.

I want to "THANK" José Koechlin von Stein for having the vision to start "eco" Inkaterra and big shout out to "ALL" the staff at Inkaterra Machu Picchu. We have travel the world and Inkaterra M.Picchu team are some of the best! To the front staff, Nohely & Laura no question was ever a problem. To Fernando, our concierge who is one of the most detail planners/organizers I have ever met. He ensured that we received the most out of our three night stay. Will was our guide to Machu Picchu and private guide of the gardens. Will is a encyclopedia of local flora and fauna. We enjoyed our time with him. The food and wait staff provided some of the best restaurant /hospitality service!!!! Their chef has got it going on. Every dish was delicious and presentation beautiful. The bar staff were happy to make the Pico Sours. Diego and the rest of the wait staff were always taking care of the us and the rest of the guests. Well done DIEGO, you went above and beyond!!!! Spa team was good. We were impressed that the support staff including the gardening team were all so polite, professional and always welcoming when one passed by. The manager should be proud of their team which went out of their way to ensure my husband and I had a great and relaxing visit. Well done and we wish you all the best! Keep up the good work. We highly recommend and will return someday.

Very disappointing. Our travel agent recommended this hotel and told us it is the only “five-star” hotel in the little town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town). In reality, the Inkaterra is a three-star hotel located in the so-called cloud forest at the very end of the town. Our room probably hadn’t been updated in more than twenty years-at least. It consisted of two small twin beds on a tile floor. Single pane pieces of glass serve as windows, there is no air-conditioning despite the humidity, the property has few lights so getting back to your room in the morning or night is difficult. We found the staff to be indifferent. They weren’t very friendly but also not rude. This is rare for Peru because everyone else we met during our stay in Peru was wonderful. We had one dinner and one breakfast during our stay. Dinner was awful. I sent my dish back twice because it was not cooked correctly. The first lomo saltado they served was raw. Literally raw. The second time it was cooked for about one minute-despite asking for medium. Both tables next to us sent their food back as well so possibly they were just having a bad night. The bread was dried out, the service was almost non-existent and the prices are double of what you will pay at any other restaurant in Peru. The breakfast buffet reminded me of a buffet you would find in Russia circa 1984. Limited menu and nothing looked appealing at all. Luckily you can order a few items from a menu which were edible. You don’t come to Inkaterra for the food. At first the property looks impressive when you see all the villas nestled into the forest. Quickly you realize it is all show and is in desperate need of renovation. Once was enough-especially for what they charge. Ouch!

Room is big and nice. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Speak english only the ones in reception desk :) Nice hotel's restaurant, and they have menu with rice :) Good wifi only in lobby area. I enjoy my stay in this hotel.

This was such a beautiful hotel hidden away in the centre of this bustling little town, which has grown beyond its original purpose of being a tourist base, and feels like an actual town. Yes there are a lot of bars playing music and serving dodgy cocktails, but there is none of the kiss me quick feel to it. The hotel itself is quirky and gorgeous. The restaurant serves excellent local dishes and the bar is a lot of fun. Rooms are extremely well furnished and comfortable - I could have stayed a lot longer than the two nights we had there. If you're visiting Machu Pichu, I would recommend this grown up feeling hotel.

This hotel is an oasis of peace on a large estate on the walkable outskirts of Aguas Caliente/Machu Picchu pueblo. It is deceptive from the front, you are unaware of just how extensive the grounds are. It has the unsual quirk that to get to the restaurant where they serve lunch you literally have to cross the railway tracks, with trains coming from and to Machu Picchu with regularity during the day. That said the food and drink served in the restaurant is high quality Peruvian cuisine The restaurant for breakfast and dinner is in the main block of the hotel well away from the railway. On check in the staff were friendly and helpful. We were given an upgrade on checking in. Our room was a short external walk from the reception. This is an ecological hotel so at night a torch (either on your phone or a flashlight) is useful, Our room was large, very tastefully decorated and well equiped. There were plenty of sockets to charge appliances. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had a good standalone shower with ample water power. The products that they provded were good. There are extensive grounds, including a swimming pool and hot tubs (chlorine free). There are also several trains including an orchid graden. In the early evening you can hear the trains. We ate dinner and the food was good Peruvian dishes, but not exceptional. The service was quite slow and not particularly friendly. We had to leave early in the morning so we were one of the first for breakfast. There was an adequate choice of food. There was no espresso available. The service, was again slow. Breakfast was spoilt by the playing of loud, inappropriate classical for that time of the morning. It certainly wasn't a relaxing experience.

Very very disappointing. We had booked a junior suite , which was supposed to have a balcony or terrace, dining area, dressing gowns and Alpaca blankets. Our room was damp and musty, and the bathroom smelt. There was no view , only one bathrobe , a t.v hanging off the wall and no dining area . There was one synthetic throw !!! The staff seemed demoralised, nobody seemed to be in charge, and it was very difficult to make oneself understood.
