Villa Sonia Bisma

Ubud Bali|0.11km from Kenko Reflexology Ubud
Staff: I didn’t get the young ladies name, but, the receptionist was nothing but helpful from the start and assisted us with everything we needed. One of the main reasons for the rating of poor is what happened the day we checked out (or didn’t). We had made it clear we needed to check out at 6am the day before. When we arrived downstairs we had to wake a young man up who looked at us like we were trespassing somewhere. After he stretched, rubbed his eyes and finally woke up, he greeted us with ‘no speak English’ after trying to check out he said ‘wait here’ and disappeared for 5 minutes to get a security guard. When they both arrived back they were trying to call people and everything time I said I needed to go as I had to get to a port, they told me to wait. After about 30 minutes I left my partner at reception and went to get our driver (who also provided us a tour the a before) who spoke good English. He walked in and translated with us and them and they informed me I needed to pay for the minibar usage which I had no problem with. They said we could then go and we were on our way. The same day, we received a WhatsApp saying ‘sorry but you haven’t paid, you need to pay now’... we then said please contact one of our parents in England who is dealing with finance. Baring in mind, the time difference, we were bombarded with messages saying ‘your mum still hasn’t paid’... it was 4am in the morning! The most frustrating part about this, which ruined our overall experience, was that we were made to feel like we had done a runner and like it was our fault even though it was the complete opposite. Having travelled around Asia for a few months, organisation is vital, and unfortunately the organisation at Villa Sonia Bisma was non existent. Room: lovely size, good air conditioning and a cosy balcony. The room and bathroom was very clean. Facilities: there was a spa (we didn’t use) and a nice sized swimming pool. Only downfall was the WiFi was very poor. Location: a 5 minute walk to the sacred monkey forest and just around the corner from a road full of bars and restaurants.

Champlung Sari Hotel Ubud

This hotel is in great walking distance to the art market, restaurants, and shopping. Although the front entrance is being renovated, that does not impede access to the hotel and is not noisy. (New brickwork being laid on the ground) The ambiance of the location is quite nice with lots of greenery and unique architecture. Our room was clean and large, but the balcony cannot be used in the mornings or evenings due to the monkeys! This hotel is right next to the monkey forest, so expect visitors. Several monkeys blocked our way from walking out of our room one evening, but a hotel worker chased them off for us. It did take getting used to needing to hang wet bathing suits in the bathroom rather than a drying rack on a balcony. The monkeys seem to come early in the mornings (3:30-4:30!) and in the evenings (6:00-8:00). Other than those times, we did not see them nor have any problems with them. There is a small but nice hot buffet breakfast at the hotel and two swimming pools.

My experience at Champlung Sari Villa and Spa was nothing short of blissful. The One Bedroom Private Pool Villa provided the perfect sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality. The villa itself was beautifully appointed, with elegant decor and modern amenities. The highlight, of course, was the private pool, where I spent many tranquil hours soaking up the sun and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The spa services offered at Champlung Sari were exceptional, providing a range of treatments to pamper both body and mind. Whether it was a soothing massage or a rejuvenating facial, each treatment left me feeling refreshed and renewed. The staff at Champlung Sari went above and beyond to ensure my stay was memorable. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellence truly set this villa apart. Overall, I cannot recommend Champlung Sari Villa and Spa highly enough. Whether you're seeking a romantic retreat or simply a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this villa offers the perfect combination of luxury, comfort, and relaxation. P/S: The monkeys are kinda aggressive but fret not the monkey guards are there to ensure your safety!
