Jumeirah Bali

Uluwatu Bali|0.99km from Villa Idaman by BukitVista
We stayed at the Jumeirah as the last leg of our honeymoon following 5 nights at the Capella and 5 nights at the Four Seasons. These were activity based stats and Jumeirah at Uluwatu was the relax and recharge around the pool and beach. The hotel design and decor is stunning and our villa was incredible. Can’t fault it. However, amenities and inconsistent service really lets this hotel down. The good stuff: - e-butler service via WhatsApp was brilliant. In- room dining, great! -Marcel on concierge went above and beyond, he couldn’t do more for us! - Our in-room servicing team were super and made us towel animals everyday leaving us notes during our stay which was lovely. The not so good stuff: - Food was nice, but just ok. Poached eggs on toast… toast was burnt everyday and poached eggs watery. Omelette came out with whipped egg whites like you’d make in a pudding (very strange) and with alternative ingredients from your original order if they had run out of something. But, without consulting you. I was intolerant to one of the substituted ingredients. Similarly, I ordered a non alcoholic cocktail and they made it alcoholic. Little things like this can’t happen. - Unorganised and overly attentive service in restaurants. You have about 5 people waiting your table so you can’t enjoy your breakfast/ lunch or dinner without constantly being interrupted being asked the same question. You feel watched and pounced on during the meal so you can’t actually relax. Before you have finished your last mouthful and putting your cutlery down they are already whipping away your plate even if others at the table are still eating or you are still chewing your last mouthful of food. - Slow service in both restaurants and pool bar. Whilst quick to take your order and hovering, it took a minimum of 15mins to deliver your drinks with food sometimes beating your drinks to the table. If you’d ordered a frozen drink it had basically melted before it reached your table. Or they would deliver half your order and the rest would follow 10mins later so you were always chasing up food and drink and wondering if they got your order wrong. - We ordered a tuna salad and the salad came without the Tuna. The Tuna was then delivered separately 10mins later… - ordered an omelette and the toast came out 10mins before. - It doesn’t cater for western clients. Both how they execute basic western dishes and more broadly on culture. As a female, I was often ignored and only my husband was addressed. They would never hand me the bill, this always was passed to my husband, and they only ever asked him questions directly and ignored me entirely which I found rude and insulting. Classic western food on their menu was often excited on poorly. - No atmosphere around the pool. Play some soft background music. We found guests playing music themselves via their phone. We didn’t overly mind this but it shows they were all feeling the same and I wouldn’t expect at a 5* hotel to have peopl

AYANA Villas Bali

Jimbaran Bali|1.18km from Villa Idaman by BukitVista
Wow, Ayana you have absolutely blown us away. From the person who greeted us at the airport until our final day we were greeted with a smile and friendly service. The staff always made us feel welcome along with our young children. The accommodation always felt very private and the villas were well appointed . We started our holiday in an ocean view villa and then decided to treat ourselves the last few nights with a cliff top villa- highly recommend this for additional privacy and stunning views. The common areas were not crowded, although sometimes it was difficult to get a sunbed by a pool in the middle of the day. We enjoyed wonderful meals at numerous restaurants throughout the resort- the highlights were Rock Bar- unlike anything I've seen before. The electric violin player with the DJ also made for a great vibe. The food at Sami Sami was delicious, the highlight was the paccherri Alla Genovese. Our final dinner was at Unique Rooftop where we enjoyed sunset with Mexican food. Feeding the fish after a buffet breakfast at Padi's was also a highlight for the kids. I would also highly recommend the Kampoeng Bali dinner and show to get a feel for Balinese food and traditions. My kids (6 and 3yrs) were mesmerised by the dancers. The villa butler service allows for easy access to all locations across the resort. The butler's were friendly and knowledgeable and made recommendations and bookings. While they were all great the absolute stand outs were the delightful Yudi, Yoga and Dewa who paid special attention to the kids and knew their names by the end of the stay. We will definitely be back!

We stayed with our two children (1&4) and enjoyed the rooms as well as the overall amenities. We were given a baby’s cot which was super nice. We ate at the restaurant 3 times a day and the food was great, no one got sick and hence we could take the week to relax by the pool and to do small excursions. It’s a little walk with children to the beach so bring a pram or best a beach cart as the road down is a dirt road for the last 200m. I stayed in Balangan in 2007 the first time and it hasn’t changed all that much, but there are new developments around. Still a relatively quiet place to stay. The water refill is also great, we did not buy any plastic bottles the whole week, which is the way it should be. The coffee was also good (proper machine), although if you’re an early riser like us you have to wait until 7:30. I found the Shisha‘s were a little bit out of place in Bali and I would have rather rented a coffee machine for the week :) Overall a great stay for the family.

It's too winding from Bali airport to this place. Fortunately, we met a very patient master who brought us over. We gave a combined 75 yuan fare. The environment is very beautiful, with a swimming pool, it can be useless. There was only a list on the bed, and it was cold at night (Jan is too humid and you need to turn on the air conditioner). You can rent a motorcycle, 70k (RMB 35), and it is estimated that the bargain can be much cheaper. Not far from the dreamland beach and uluwatu templt, there are motorcycle tourists on the road. However, some people from Jakarta can exchange more foreign currency at Jakarta Airport! Exchange rates are getting worse at Jakarta Airport, Bali, and Lombok. However, Lombok has a big Japanese shop, which is much better than the others, and the exchange rate is very similar to Jakarta Airport.

This hotel was beautiful. The villas are so charming and everything is themed with class in black and white. The kid friendly atmosphere provided an oasis for parents and a safe space for the little ones running around. My mom and I had a lovely time and got to spend time at the pool, have a massage, and enjoy the delicious breakfast and European style coffee. Plus we had time with their Himalayan cats (what a bonus)! Balangan beach is SO close and beautiful, excellent for watching surfers or surfing if that’s your thing. I only wish there was a privacy screen for the massage since it was next to the pool/other villas and didn’t feel private for the transitions. 5/5! Would definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay at Brothers Belangan! It was peaceful, traditional, private and the staff could not do enough for us. The breakfast was great, just enough to fill us up, delivered beautifully and dinner on the bbq was super tasty too! The room was spacious and clean, sheets fresh with an essential mozzie net and fan. Close to the beach, just a 5 minute walk for a beautiful sunset, drink or surf this was a perfect spot to relax beside the clean pool, manicured gardens or have a lovely massage. Only a small circle of bungalows and not all were occupied but even if they were I doubt it would seem crowded. Far away from the hustle of the busier resort areas it was very relaxing.

Uluwatu
Like other friends said, this is a small resort that is very natural, consisting of many houses with very local architectural features, but it is relatively remote in terms of location. Suitable for eating and drinking and swimming in the resort every day. At night, walk to the beach under the cliff and watch a bunch of foreigners surfing. The consumption level of this hotel is very cost-effective, and the food and drink are delicious. Our whole family enjoyed the days here. It is not recommended to stay in a separate thatched house (luxury bungalow type). This roof is of thatched structure and cannot be completely closed. The air conditioning effect is not good. There are many geckos crawling around at night, and there are many mosquitoes. Deluxe room, cheap and suitable for most Chinese people, the house is cool.
