I had a conference in Glamorgan building Cardiff University. The hotel location is perfect. City centre is just around the corner and around 10 minutes to the conference venue and Cardiff castle. Definitely would recommend this hotel to any friend who would visit Cardiff
Clayton was okay as far as hotels go, it was nice having a view of Cardiff from a top floor, staff were friendly too.
The Gym was tiny for the size of the hotel, the bedroom was a standard double room, the reviews said that the Clayton had been newly refurbished, but felt that the room was dated. Due to windows not being able to be open due to H&S, there was no fresh air, just air con. The room was mostly clean, few stains on the carpet, and floor felt dusty.
The hotel location was great, near the train station and in town, but for the cost, I was expecting something much better, as the night before we had a much cheaper hotel, and rooms came with kitchens, and were very modern - wish I had stayed at that one for the extra few nights.

We arrived at Cardiff Central by train, which is 15mins walking to this Premier Inn. It was very welcoming and staff friendly, rooms clean, with as much tea and coffee, which you took from the travellers store at the main entrance. My only gripe is as I have dietary requirements, They couldn't cater for them and had to make do with what was on offer. No gluten free food at night, Only what I would call general burgers, lasagne, steak battered fish and chips. Only veg on offer was peas. In this day and age Hotels need to cater for a variety of people's health conditions. Vegan/vegetarians are not Gluten free or Ibs sufferers or Celiacs. Which are complicated problems. It would be helpful if they offered something which could be adapted. .
Facing the main street of Cardiff, it is convenient near the station. Cardiff Castle is a few minutes' walk away. Because it was Easter, the city was busy until midnight and the next dance club was a little noisy until midnight.
The Parkgate Suite I stayed in was very large and comfortable. All the amenities were Elemis. It was very clean and bright. The location is excellent, just across the street from the shops. There are many restaurants and shops just across the street.
Enjoyed the stay. Holiday inn never dissappoints, and I really appreciate their hospitality. Great service, good food , excellent rooms, and great view of the city. Loved the stay , and would recommend anyone travelling to cardiff
We stayed here for 3 nights, it was very pleasant and clean. Friendly faces and friendly service. The beds are very comfortable and absolutely huge! The only negative I would mention was the fact that on the first night, we were sat in the bar enjoying a drink and the barmaid came out and started to hoover, which obviously made us uncomfortable and was also quite loud, so we proceeded to take our drinks to our room to finish them. Which also meant we didn’t use the bar facility again for the rest of the stay, which was a shame.

EEstherStayed for a night and the location was perfect, only 7min walk from Cardiff Central train station. Very easy to get to. At the first glance, the hotel seems very old compared to the photo but it was quite clean. Check in was easy and the receptionists were very friendly.. I love the 24 hr front desk service. Since it is in the city center, the surrounding is a bit crowded but the entrance is always locked and you have to ring the bell if you want to get inside which I felt safe. As a solo traveller in a new city, that's the main thing i wanted. the room is tiny but have all the things I need. i thought i would hear the voices from other rooms judging by the look of the walls but I didnt . Bed was comfy and slept well.. Would definitely stay there again. Cheers.
