Booked in online at the last minute for Sunday roast. Absolutely delicious, tasty food and its table service, which I much prefer. We wanted Sunday roast though the main menu was also available. Friendly staff and well priced. Nice surroundings as well. Highly recommend

I stayed for a 2 night mini break with my husband. What a lovely place, the pub was on a quiet main road overlooking the stunning countryside. The pub had a lovely welcoming, friendly atmosphere, cosy and very appropriately decorated for the age of the building. The staff were so friendly and helpful a special shout out to Rosie and Karen who were especially friendly and very chatty. The room was very comfortable, clean and the bed was comfortable too. Must mention the food we had breakfast and dinner on both days and it was stunning, and there was plenty. I would highly recommend the steak the best I've had for years. I would definitely recommend a stay here or at least a meal you won't be disappointed. Thank you for a lovely stay will defo be back.

Very tasty lunch after an enjoyable walk along Curbar Edge. We only ordered sandwiches but they were delicious, especially the thick cut chips that came with them. We ate in the lovely secluded garden, with woodland behind, a very welcome break.

We have had the most comfortable stay here for two nights. Peaceful room and comfy bed. Lovely and clean. A very friendly welcoming Inn. Excellent food In easy reach to travel around the Peak District. Bakewell being very close. Tip: book your meals before you arrive, they get booked up. We booked the first evening, but not the second However, we went not far to the Prince of Wales and had an excellent dinner in there.

Staff were lovely, friendly, and welcoming. However, the room decor was tired. The bed and bedding disappointing, the pillows and mattress had definitely seen better days. Evening meal very tasty but disappointing breakfasts. Great location and beer garden I can imagine being very popular in warmer months.

We booked a table for 2 for Sunday lunch, the online booking system wouldn’t allow us to book on line so we called to book a table at 4pm. We arrived at 3.30pm had a drink then went to sit at our table. We were given menus but with no Sunday lunch option & was then told there was no Sunday roasts left & I quote “we always run out of Sunday roasts by 4pm every Sunday” The other options on the menu are pretty poor so we decided to leave only to be asked why we wouldn’t be eating today, we explained that we had booked a table for Sunday lunch but you didn’t have any left which I find laughable We were told again that “we always run out of Sunday lunch by 4pm” so why not tell people who call to book for Sunday lunch that this won’t be available or as I pointed out prepare more so that you don’t run out? We travelled 1 mile down the road to find the Maynard arms where you can find a great Sunday lunch with great service and a much better option if you’re in the area.

Absolutely fabulous food ambience and wonderful service. Exceptional experience romantic setting would love to visit again soon. They made us both feel welcome and looked after Topsy our fox Red Labrador puppy. Gave her water and treats.

Stopped on the way back from Chatsworth Christmas gardens. Cosy setting with a log burner. Warm and inviting, friendly, great beer/food/wine/service. Tandoori cod cheeks followed by Guinea fowl were excellent. Thoroughly enjoyable meal thank you.
