We visited this hotel for two nights as a family with a small child (3 years old). The renovated rooms are spectacular and very charming. The wooden touch throughout the hotel and our room was so cozy and really had that Austrian flair. The room itself was way beyond our expectations and we were thrilled. The sofa pullout bed was new and comfy for our child. The regular beds were very good with comfortable duvets and pillows, the mattress was superb. The decorations throughout the room looked amazing and the lighting was also a great touch. The balcony was great for sitting in the sun and taking in the breathtaking views! Bathroom was wonderful with a separate toilet which actually comes in very handy. Highly recommend the renovated rooms, well worth it! Parking is free and they have plenty of room! Breakfast was from 8-10 and dinner from 6-8. The food was really fantastic and just the right amount. Even my picky toddler loved it and was super happy to try all the nice dishes. If you didn’t want something on the menu they were very accommodating. They assign each room their own table for both meals which is actually quite nice, we enjoyed that. I absolutely cannot complain about one single thing regarding the food. The service in the dining room worked very hard and you could tell they gave their best. They have high chairs for small children too. The “uga lift” is within walking distance and gets you to the mountains for some hiking. Many different trails available and we had a wonderful hike. There is a nice restaurant at the top which is so cozy inside, and a fantastic playground outside. We also drove to the Diedamskopf lift and spent the next day there. You can bring a stroller but it was a bit difficult going down the mountain. There is currently a very informative little museum at the top which costs 2 euro entrance but it is very nice for kids. The restaurant also looked good and there is a lovely terrace to sit at overlooking many mountain tops. All in all this hotel was great value for the money and I would honestly recommend it in the summer or winter, I am sure the skiing is amazing. Thank you to the wonderful staff and owners for showing us such hospitality.

It was wonderful, the food was great, the location was great and the staff were extremely friendly. It's only a few steps to the slopes and the lifts. We'd love to come back and bring our friends with us. The breakfast buffet is brilliant and there's really nothing missing. The location and the rooms are beautiful.

We were very happy with the Berghotel Madlener. Great food, good location and nice rooms. We received a very friendly welcome and I was very impressed by how clean the rooms were. The bathroom was very modern. The room had its own balcony with a view of the mountains. The lift station is not far away and can be reached on foot. The restaurant rooms are very cozy and modern. The dinner was very good and the breakfast very plentiful. We would love to come back.

Highly recommended family-run hotel, very nicely furnished rooms, warm atmosphere, friendly welcome, good food, extensive breakfast buffet, beautiful ambience in the dining room with perfect service, various sauna offers at the perfect price-performance ratio just around the corner from the lift station.

When we checked in, we were greeted very warmly and given good information about the hotel's processes. A very good selection at the breakfast buffet with everything your heart could desire. Freshly made egg dishes can also be ordered for free in the price. The evening meal was varied and tasted good. It consists of 5 courses and there are always 3 main courses to choose from every day, one of which is vegetarian. On Sundays there was a gala dinner with a Prosecco reception. After skiing, we relaxed in the hotel's own wellness area. We had a very nice, spacious room with a balcony and a wonderful view of the mountains.

I was a guest at the mountain hotel and afterwards wrote a few points to the mountain hotel by email to make sure that improvements can be made in the future. I communicated these constructively as below. At first there was no response at all, then when I asked about it I received an incredibly unfriendly message from the owner, firstly a reference to the website, where 4 courses are mentioned in the summer (although it is questionable whether the salad buffet can be considered a course and there was no fish, which is what the website says) and whether I had read correctly, and secondly that he would "not comment" on the other points because they were "not productive" for him. Instead he recommended: "Feel free to rate my hotel negatively, that's also advertising!" I'm happy to do that. I deliberately chose the direct route of communication with the hotel, but apparently they don't place any value on customer feedback, which is why I can now unfortunately only give it 1 star (otherwise it would probably have been 3). Positive aspects of the stay were the mostly decent food and the committed service (who didn't always seem fully professional, though). Now to my points of criticism: - Room: I had a single room which did not look at all like a 4-star hotel (old carpet, pale yellow sofa, cramped). Anyone interested should have several pictures sent to them in advance to get a complete impression. It was clean, but had more the feel of a monastery room (restricted to the bare essentials). - The website says that you can choose between meat, vegetarian and fish menus - but there was no fish menu on offer, just two menu options. - From the next room (separated by a locked connecting door) you could clearly hear all kinds of noises, which is not appropriate for a 4-star hotel, a solution should be found. - I was shocked by the dessert called "Mohr im Hemd" - I am aware that the name is traditional in Austria, but nowadays you should choose a different name (e.g. chocolate cake). I pointed this out to the waitress, but was dismissed. So either you don't think about such issues at all or you consciously ignore the sensitivities of certain social groups - I find both of these to be worrying. - The food took too long every day - I usually sat for 2 hours to eat and had to wait around 30-40 minutes between courses - one day it took a particularly long time. - Next door to the hotel, noise from the construction yard (?!) with the truck running continuously could be heard until the evening. Since the trucks had "Madlener" written on them, I assume that they are part of the "universe". This makes spending time on the balcony nerve-wracking at times. - Often the tables were not ready by the start time (6 p.m.) -> table cards not yet prepared

When we arrived, there was no information about where to find anything... The rooms and the whole hotel are actually beautifully decorated in an Austrian style. The service staff are very friendly, but understaffed. The seasonal and regional dishes advertised on the website are unfortunately not quite right - except in Damüls, where melons, raspberries, blueberries, aubergines, zucchini and peppers are already growing in February... Bad management! The boss was already sitting at the bar with a large beer at 10am. But he didn't care at all about the guests!

Half board, the food is the worst I have ever eaten in a restaurant, sub-standard. The staff can probably not help it, breakfast is still OK, dinner is all convenience and the deep fryer is in high demand
