We stayed overnight before catching the ferry to UK next evening. Very comfortable hotel. Excellent food in the bistro. The food was good value, considering the quality and the service, but quite pricey. Breakfast service was understaffed and ran out of the very good bread and viennoiserie by 09.45.

I liked the amazing food in the brasserie, the big bed room, luxury bed linen, the large shower, impressive grounds, helpful friendly English speaking staff and the swimming pool. location is very convenient for the ferry crossing. I do think the pool should be open before breakfast. It is healthy to swim before if you can. I recommend 8am. Didn't like the noise of the traffic much because of the busy road near by and would request quieter room next time. Plus we were disappointed there was no dairy free spread for my husband at breakfast. However we will return again.

The hotel receptionist welcomed us and a very nice young lady showed us to our room. We had early check in. It was enormously hot in outer room, the electric shutters were already down but unfortunately, there was no air conditioning. It was the hottest day of the year. 35c. We rested for a few hours, got ready for dinner which we looking forward to in the hotel bistro. On our way to the bistro we were engaged by the receptionist. We asked if there was any way we could change our room as it was unbearably hot. Sorry he replied, we can't change your room. You booked through booking com you should have checked about air co. So no we can't change your room. Taken aghast we thought that was a bit odd. Anyway we proceeded to the long awaited meal in le bistro. We were greeted by a nice young man wearing a baseball type hat, he was a bit somber. He gave us the menu and it was 39 euros each for the carte de hour - outside of that choice was restricted. We really did not have an appetite for expensive food, and so we decided to look in town for something more affordable. After dinner which was in a lovely restaurant in town, we returned to the hotel. The reception guy we spoke to earlier expressed his disapproval of us leaving the dining room bistro booking earlier. He was very annoyed with us. Suffice it to say that we experienced a very distressing end to our day. Trip advisor guidelines do not allow us to tell you all that traumatized us on the 8th of September. We should say this. We do not know how the food tasted because it was too expensive for us. We do not know how the bed was because we did not get to sleep in it, and we do not have a single good word to say about this unkempt, inhospitable and unwelcoming hotel near Saint Malo. If I could give it 0 stars I would.

Management at this hotel are very good at answering negative reviews with aggressive taunts and suggestions that the reviewers are being untruthful - please read this review about how they can be aggressive in person too..! My wife and I checked into this hotel on one of the hottest September days ever recorded for this part of France around 33C. Our room was even hotter than the outside air temperature - we were offered a small USB powered fan - which did nothing to make the room more comfortable. On going to eat in the evening my wife asked the evening receptionist if there were any air conditioned rooms - she was told that there were but not if you speak English and book your accommodation with *********** - we were quite taken aback by this but the evening receptionist started to become aggressive, shouting and leaning over the counter to point his finger at my wife. We went into their brasserie to eat, still feeling a bit shaken - the waiter gave us menus and then ignored us for 10 minutes or so - we tried to attract his attention but he ignored us so we left and went to the nearest town to eat. The aggressive receptionist phoned while we were out to shout at us about abandoning our booking in the brasserie - I hung up. On returning to the hotel around 10pm the evening receptionist was still in an ugly mood - and started shouting at my wife and I about the restaurant and the earlier air conditioning request. When I attempted to take his photo so I could record his aggressive stance while shouting at my wife - he totally lost the plot, assaulted me and bodily pulled me out of the elevator by my arm while attempting to twist my wrist. We told him this was unacceptable and he said he would call a manager - so we took a seat and waited for 10 minutes or so - a man wearing a black T-Shirt and jeans turned up (he appeared to be a bit intoxicated and smelt of alcohol) - he said he was a manager and tried to punch me.. He told us to leave the hotel. We packed our bags, took them out to our car - the 'manager' followed us, banged on the car windows with a metal torch, took his spectacles off and adopted a boxing pose - he obviously wanted a fight. I pointed out that it wouldn't look good that he was picking a fight with a couple of pensioners.. As I was driving away he pushed a big heavy luggage trolley at my car and it bounced off the front bumper. My wife was truly terrified - she phoned the police on the 17 number and we followed this up with an online report of the incident on the police incident reporting form.. The hotel and *********** have refused to refund the cost of the stay - we have asked our bank to do a 'chargeback'.. This was a nasty incident (a previous reviewer said the hotel was not Brit friendly - perhaps this explains the strange behaviour) - it was very scary and despite what the hotel management may write in reply - it actually happened! It would be great to hear from any other hotel guest that may have witnessed this

My wife and I stayed for just one night following an absence of some years. Sadly the last time, some five or so years ago we found that the standards had fallen from the previous highs. A friend told us to check out the hotel once again and sure enough it has regained the old style and panache and indeed there is a new style throughout. Putting it simply, our stay was excellent. From the welcome at the revised front desk to the spacious well appointed room. A nice en-suite shower room with a wet floor with all the facilities needed. Our room, furnished in Tireless Guerin style, that is to say rather 1980s but very pleasant with a nice large comfortable bed. A small sitting area sets off the bedroom nicely. The staff are just so helpful and willing to engage, maximum points to them! The restaurant has a pleasant a**osphere and the food options are good without being great. I know that the management are working on that. Finally the Tirel Guerin is now firmly back on our list!

We needed a stopover hotel near to the port in St Malo. This hotel didn’t disappoint - clean, comfortable and decent sized room. The decor away from the reception area needs addressing as a little dated compared. We were concerned about proximity to main road and train station but no noise issue really. Would suggest given the lack of air conditioning that rooms should have a fan in them, however. Very warm and thick duvets too 🥵 We didn’t eat here so can’t comment on food but price for one night was very good.

This hotel is lovely. We were only there unexpectedly for two nights due to a car breakdown and we’re busy doing things so didn’t eat there or use the facilities- pool and jacuzzi looked fab- but the reception staff we dealt with were absolutely lovely, friendly and helpful

We slept at the hotel for one night. It was a pleaseant stay. The swimming pool is nice, the bedroom comfortable. The person at the reception advised us a restaurant for the dinner in Cancale wich was famous. Thank you for everything !
