The Fenwick Hotel

I got a birthday gift from a friend for afternoon tea with a glass of fizz …went along on the 1/6/2024 ….the staff in the restaurant were very cold and were not welcoming ….showed us to a table and left us…we were served with our afternoon tea which was very dissopoining the cakes were hard …very poor assortment….and the sandwiches were awful scattered all over with a few green leaves to decorate the two scones were solid and had a sad little pot of cream …no jam didn’t eat much…took it home and gave it to the birds …the staff never even bothered to ask if we needed anything or if we enjoyed our afternoon tea we had to actually go and collect our glasses of fizz which again was half full and tasted like sparkling vinegar …we left and never even got a good buy ….i will never go back to the Fenwick hotel ….

Been going to Fenwick hotel for years for food and functions and was always impressed, however, sadly this wasn't the case during a recent visit. It started off badly when we weren't allowed to sit outside in the lovely garden area because there was a function on. Instead we were directed to the smoking area beside the wheelie bins in the car park! We waited 45 mins for our starter at dinner (our ticket was lost). Food wasn't the best, not as good it used to be. The card machine wasn't working. Service was a bit hit and miss, although breakfast staff were good. Not all drinks on the menu (cocktails) were available. The hotel cleanliness standard wasn't as good as it used to be either (thick layer of dust on hair dryer cord, lots of marks on glass doors). It was all a bit disappointing, especially given that it was for a birthday celebration. I felt that the standard at the Riverside Irvine (sister hotel) was much better. That said, the Reception staff member and staff on duty at breakfast were very nice, but I won't be going back in hurry.

Staff here are very friendly. Unfortunately, I tried to order food when the restauraunt was almost full, the bar full and a wedding taking place, so slight delay. I had an off the books sandwich and soup. Food was very good, staff attentive. The room was a little in need of decoration. One downer was the position of the hotel next to a very busy motorway. My bedroom was 40 yards from the roadway. So, traffic noise is an issue. Perhaps triple glazing would sort that. I found everything clean but getting old in terms of decor and a refresh probably overdue. Breakfast was full Scottish, or as little as croissant and coffee. Fruit juices, toast too. Although a wedding took place underneath my room, I did not hear any of it. This is a very busy place indeed and staff looked a little stretched but all pleasant and very eager to please. I would reccomend but excuse the room decor.

My husband booked men of mowtown night as part of my birthday, meal and overnight stay included. They were fabulous, food was good. Drink prices ridiculous but I guess same as most hotels, large wine and soft drink £12 . Room very tired and needed attention. Mattress has a large urine stain...black mould round bath...when u stood in shower the bath felt spongy as in u were going to fall through it...broken furniture, scuff marks on the walls. I took pictures and showed the girl at reception, she said oh sorry ill take a note of it. I just shook my head and walked away. We had our wedding reception here 8yrs ago and was a different experience, was amazing, new owners need to step up.. im afraid we won't stay here again.

Great dinner for 72 of us at The Fenwick Hotel on Friday 26th April 2024. We were well looked after by Kelly and her team. Great choices on the menu.The food and service were excellent. Clean, comfortable venue. Would definitely recommend this venue.

Lovely overnight stay to catch up with family who live in the area. The friendly staff made this a memorable stay as they went out their way to accommodate us and they were so friendly. On realising that we had someone in a wheelchair the receptionist immediately changed our booking to a ground floor room. Much appreciated thank you ! We enjoyed a nice dinner and there was a decent choice from the buffet breakfast. It was nice relaxing in the bar with a drink in the evening too.

The Fenwick Hotel hosted my mums 70th birthday on the 30th March and they did great job! We had a slight delay with a couple of the guests arriving late but the manager Kelly was very accommodating and made a stressful half hour much easier. Throughout the afternoon the staff were present but we didn't feel rushed in any way. Would definitely feel comfortable booking an event here again. Big thanks to Kelly and her staff. Camilla Minnis

This was a fantastic visit to this hotel for my daughters wedding. The staff were great they even joined in with some of the kids playing, a great atmosphere. Food was perfection on a plate , and hot plates were a great bonus. A two night stay was well worth it. All the staff we met were happy, courteous, and willing to help in any way they could. The weather could have been better, but to be fair, they can't do anything about that. An absolute fantastic day for all who attended the wedding . Thank you to the Fenwick Hotel *****.

We went for a meal with family. Service rotten, bar service worse. The meal was awful too. Soup was 1/2 of a ladle. Steak pie was dry and the pastry was solid. The sweet had a frozen strawberry topping it. This used to be a great hotel with great service. The last twice we have been very poor.
