Probably the most stunning location of any hotel I’ve stayed in and one of the nicest rooms - in a minimalist way. No TV but quite the most incredible views of Mt Fuji from the room. The outside seating area attached to the room is so comfortable and for us private ( in many rooms it will be somewhat overlooked as guests walk around the site, but room 303 is on the “front row”. The Hotel reception is in a car park at 2775’ above sea level. Our room at 2910’ asl, dining room at 3026’ asl and the cloud terrace fire pit at 3117’ asl. So that’s 116’ up to breakfast or 216’ up to the terrace from the room - which didn’t bother us at all - and I am sure for less able bodied guests they will happily run people about in the Jeep. The Jeep is used to climb the 135’ up from the reception up to room although we ended up walking most of the time - only need to visit reception if hiring bikes or getting a taxi. Mechanical bike hire is free - we used this to get to the 7-eleven about 3km away for some in room snacks and drinks! Also cycled to ice caves about 15km away - well worth doing. Hotel staff extremely polite - English sometimes a little challenging but this was more to do with them trying hard to understand my wife’s dietary request for “no meat and no fish”. I think this was a little challenging for them to comprehend at times but they did accommodate and I know staff worked hard so to do. We sometimes I felt they over complicated the request by checking what she could: couldn’t eat - Just no meat no fish - simple! ( so no, bacon isn’t ok!). Breakfast was special - different but v good. ESP omelette. We almost got off to a bad start when I asked for only me to have the wild boar / venison dinner. My wife just wasn’t feeling that well and didn’t want to risk eating anything but was happy to join me for dinner and share a bottle of wine. This request was refused ( initially) - either both dine or I could be allowed to dine alone. I suspect they thought we would be trying to share the £70 per head meal - but of course the point was my wife didn’t want to eat - esp not meat! They conceded and I enjoyed an excellent meal and we shared a £70 bottle of wine too. I would have enjoyed the £100 per head Dutch oven experience but they would not concede this point and I would have had to eat alone ! Instead we had curry on 2 nights. A sort of hybrid “heat up your own” on the terrace. Tasty enough and worked well for us. But the hotel lost out by being rigid with the rules as the curry was far cheaper! So very many positives. The meal situation was a bit odd as to how it was handled but was OK in the end and my wife accepts she is fussy - but she can’t be the only vegetarian the hotel needs to accommodate ! It’s a stunning property in fabulous location and do highly recommend.

This was our best-ever ryokan experience, after 8 years in Japan! We stayed in the Shikibu Suite, the 2nd-largest of 11 rooms, for 2 nights. Our 200sqm suite had an enclosed garden, a private deck with onsen pool, and a separate bedroom, living, and dining/tatami room, all for our family of 4. Although the Presidential Suite looks wonderful in photos, I feel the Shikibu Suite was the more authentic Japanese experience--it had the Old World charm of a Japanese house, all in luxurious, hand-carved wood. The ryokan outdid itself with meals--Kaiseki for dinner, and a choice of West or Japanese breakfast. Kudos to the Chef and our hostess, Akiko san. The service was superb--Sato san met our car upon arrival in the rain, giving everyone an umbrella, even the kids. Our shoes and luggage wiped in the foyer, we entered our beautiful suite, followed closely behind by the lady Sato san, with out afternoon tea. Sato san deserves unreserved praise--he produced in only 2 hours, a beautiful cake at my wife's secret request for our anniversary dinner, plus an unexpected flower bouquet, which was a real surprise for her. Thank you to all the staff at Osenji Yumedono Ryokan--we would love to come back again someday.

Konansou was one of our highlights on our recent trip to Japan. My husband and I, along w our couple friends, stayed for two nights. The staff was so warm and friendly, especially Shirai at the front desk. She was incredibly patient and helpful as we figured out our bus/train tickets. They have a shuttle service to and from Kawaguchiko station, which made getting around in the rain and with bags really easy. (Tip: there is a pay phone at the station if you need to call them when you get in— there are instructions and the numbers of local hotels posted) The food was amazing! Ikeda was our server for our in room dinners, and he was kind and knowledgeable in all the different dishes and how to eat them. I was blown away by the attention to detail and variety of food. It was beautiful. It was our anniversary and we received a special gift— thank you!! Breakfast was a buffet and had a huge selection! It can get busy but there is a lot of seating. Our room was huge and had a beautiful view of the lake and its own private onsen. We enjoyed the quiet and location, which was easy to walk to. The public onsen had so many amenities and was spacious too— not sure if I was lucky, but I was the only one there! We also got to do karaoke, play table tennis, and did our laundry. There was also a rooftop foot spa, where got views of Mt Fuji! Everything you need is here!

We stayed in La Vista, top level facing MtFuji with private bath in the room for 2 nights. Like: You can take as much pictures at any part of the day/night and never get sick of the magnificent sight of MtFuji. For breakfast, we had buffets, western, Japanese style For dinner, we had Western wagyu beef slice course on first night and Japanese omakase in the second night. Both sets were very filling and taste great although I would have like it if the wagyu was steak..ha. I definitely preferred the omakase where there were cold dishes, sashimi, sukiyaki, tempura and top off with desserts. There were many free services; popsicle in many flavours you can eat after coming out from the public/private baths, free beverages, ie. caffeine, tea from the first level outside the reception. Dislike: The toilet bowl is in a separate room near the entrance of the room and the standing bath with private heart shape tub is in another facing MtFuji

We loved this hotel! A small hotel of only 8 rooms positioned right by the lakeside of Kawaguchiko - ideally located for walks and enjoying the views across to Fuji. It is immaculately kept, has very good size rooms (could see Fuji from the window) and lovely, friendly staff. Reiko, who welcomed us when we checked in, spotted us on a road when she was in her car the following day, and took us on an impromptu guided tour to a waterfall and shrine. This was one of the highlights of our trip and was so kind of her to do on her day off, and encapsulated the willingness of the hotel to ensure our stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The adjoining FamilyMart is also ideal for purchasing anything you need during your stay. Would happily return and stay for longer!

The hotel is very good! Clean and warm, the indoor and outdoor hot springs are beautiful, the sauna facilities are good, the rooms are equipped with clothes in the hotel and the rooms, and the rooms face the Mount Fuji, the scenery is even more beautiful. Breakfast and dinner are sumptuous and refined. Hotel service is good. The hotel has shuttle bus to attractions and Kawaguchiko station. The only disadvantage is that we check in at 3 pm, but we must check out at 10 am. The time is very fast and the enjoyment time is too short.

I stayed for Mt. Fuji, but unfortunately I couldn't see it hidden in the clouds. However, as on the hotel website, if the weather is nice, you can see Fuji upside down. This time it was a trip with a couple, but if you go next time, you will definitely recommend a Japanese-Western style room with a terrace with only ２ room. Because I stayed on Saturday this time, I couldn't make a reservation for a Japanese-Western style room, but I managed to secure a room with a terrace though it was small. Surprise is the price. Even though it was breakfast and dinner for two people, I was surprised that it was cheaper than the price for one person at another hotel. Both morning and evening meals were buffet style, but I ate too much because there were many items and they were delicious. The hotel employees are well educated, and they come out immediately upon arrival and move the car, and if there is a father who showed the toy car decorated with the child in the dining room, I asked my child, ”Which do you like?” And gave it to me. The bath is also a hot spring with good spring quality, and it is good to take it at any time except for an hour of cleaning. I told my wife to be prepared for cheap or bad, but there were minimal amenities other than the small room, and the customer service attitude of the employees was very good, so it was an inn that was very satisfied.

The location of the hotel is fantastic for sunset viewing. There is plenty of parking across the road, with a surfeit of basically unnecessary staff. We had a reasonable-sized room with large windows and a wonderful panorama of the lake and Mount Fuji. That's all that's positive. The hotel is in two parts: the original building and an annexe. It is NOT suitable for wheelchair users trying to get to a restaurant. There are too many steps, twists and turns. There are lifts to find rooms in part A or part B, and the locations of the onsens (which switch between male and female every day - nice views, though). The signage is rare and confusing. As a stocky European (100Kg), I had immense difficulty sleeping on a very thin futon. The electric heater in the room blasts an unhealthy stream of hot air. Switch off this health risk and you FREEZE (we were there in late October). The hotel is relatively expensive, so you'd expect quality rooms. What you get is the uniform Japanese army-style sp****, goose**** green-walled room that you'd find in business hotels at half the room rate of this laughingly named 'NEW CENTURY' place. Minimalist, to say the least (in reality, pinched, lacking in generosity and well-being). At least there was a fridge (with a freezer icebox!!) In a series of measures as a response to the risks of COVID, there were no real glasses - just paper cups, and a message asking you to close the toilet lid before flushing. Disappointingly, the toilet was untypically low quality - no little hand-washing basin and fountain on the top of the toilet, and thus no towel in the toilet itself. (So, mucky hands grasping two sets of door handles to wash your hands. How's that for customary Japanese hygiene?) We (a group of 13 people - I was the only gaijin...) had booked an evening meal, room and breakfast the next morning. Dinner? Again, for the price, you'd expect a nice piece of fish (probably from the lake) right? NO way. We got a few bits of sukiyaki, and mean little dishes with bits and pieces of this and that... I've eaten MUCH better food in izakayas and bars throughout Japan. My opinion was echoed by most of our party. Breakfast was below ordinary. Simple, plain, dull. Something to dispense with quickly. Taking fuel on board, that's all. The service in the restaurant was desultory (= awful, ungracious). During dinner, a stocky old lady granted me the opportunity to be bumped TWICE by her capacious bottom as she served the person next to me. I complained and pushed back, to the accompaniment of giggles from her lithe, unobtrusive colleagues. Mercifully I was spared any further encounter with this voluminous rear end at breakfast. The staff at breakfast time were a) limited in number b) slow and c) VERY detached. One had the feeling they were cleaning staff put into waiting uniforms. Per person, we paid over 13,000 yen. This hotel has 3 blocks as it is set into a hill. The first block contains the lobby, then at the 5th floor you connect to the middle block (which faces Fuji directly) and contains rooms on the 6-7th floors. It also contains the bathing area with an outdoor view of Mount Fuji. From the middle block, the 8th floor connects to the last block which contains levels 8-10. This block has a view of Fuji but you have to look out your window at a slant. Rooms are run down and hotel looks like it was stuck in the 1970s. Curtains are stained, walls have marks, corridor walls are stucco. Shoji screens in room have torn paper. Sink looks dirty. Wood surfaces are worn. The finishings in the room could certainly use some refurbishment and love. However it is decently clean and I was still comfortable for my stay. Food was a good spread and tasty. I was treated to fireworks over the lake which was visible from the room. The hotel staff (front desk, dinner staff) all made it a point to mention the event and where to view it from, which I appreciate.

We were highly recommended by friends, and booked three months before check-in, because it was the Spring Festival, there was only one room left at that time, and of course booked. A family of four stayed for breakfast and dinner at a tax of 38,000 yen. We rent a car from Tokyo. Because it departs at 10am, we want to say that we can't check in too early, so we drive to the Royal Palace Outlet first on the way, because the outlet is too big, we only go halfway around and don't want to go in the dark. When I was on the middle of the road, I had snowed in my life. I still met the big one at the hotel. Fortunately, there were snow tires on the road, and I opened slowly. Finally, it was safe to get to the destination. I didn't have long to settle the luggage, and I had dinner. The meal was exquisite, the barbecue, the sashimi, and the fried shrimp tasted good. Its bathroom has a hot spring, one hour, and the time to enter. The bedroom is quite big, you have to plan your bed, and the comfort is OK. It is still good to sleep in the snow overnight. Because it is snowing the next day, I didn't go to the cable car, the boat, and the Fuji is not meeting. So I have the motivation to come back next time. The accent of this night's stay is all Taiwanese, and it may be the first choice for Taiwanese travelers.

For more general details about Fufu Kawaguchiko, please read my review from October 2020... We decided at the last minute to pay a visit to the Fuji Five Lakes area because the weather forecast called for a clear day (and hopefully a clear view of Mt. Fuji.) Thankfully, one room was available, and it was the exact same room as the one we stayed at the first time (Fufu Luxury Premium Suite, Room #408.) It's a top-floor corner suite with a separate bedroom/living room along with an expansive balcony and a free-flowing, open-air Onsen (natural hot springs) bath. As rooms go, it's pure bliss. Modern, tastefully furnished and decorated, bright and airy, and has all of the amenities and features one would expect when staying at a relatively new high-end property. We still feel that Fufu doesn't make the best use of its space - it's a bit busy, and consequently seems a bit less spacious than its specifications suggest (it's officially 136 square meters, although someone we can't help but feel that they're counting the balcony space as part of the overall room size.) It's really less of a ryokan and more of a hotel with ryokan-style elements. Shoes don't need to come off (although you're advised to do so in the guest rooms), they provide ”Samue” (sort of spa pajama/style) outfits rather than the traditional (and albeit more pretty but less comfortable) Yukatas, but still retain some of the common ryokan charms (and a few drawbacks.) The staff are relatively young, hip and ”pretty”, and more casually friendly than the typical traditional ryokan, which is good or bad, depending on your perspective. We enjoyed the high-energy vibe of the place, although we also do enjoy the finesse and quaintness that top traditional ryokans exhibit as well (Asaba is a perfect example of this.) The clientele are also more youthful than most other properties that we've stayed at - this is where the young, wealthy and beautiful go to see and be seen, that's for sure. Again, not necessarily a bad thing, but just a FYI. Not much has changed from our last stay, although I will say that we enjoyed the food offering a bit more this time. We learned that they brought in a new head chef, and while it's not a night-and-day difference, we did notice a quality and creative improvement from last time. A few specialty dishes were once again served, including a unique cheese gratin with Natto (fermented soybeans that is slimy and has a pungent odor) for breakfast - we enjoyed the dish, but not sure how many Westerners can handle Natto, which is a very acquired taste. While we wish there was an option to have meals served in one's own room, we do think that Fufu needs to have more ”ko****su” private dining rooms in the restaurant. They only have a handful of them, and priority goes to large groups or families with small children. When we go to a high-end ryokan, we prefer not to dine in an open, restaurant-style environment. We booked a day trip to Mount Fuji and left the group at Kawaguchiko. We contacted the hotel and said we sent a car to pick it up in Kawaguchiko Dashi Park. It arrived in less than ten minutes! Service is great! The clean space of the house is well laid out. The most important thing is the invincible view of Mount Fuji. When you open the curtains in the morning, you can see Mount Jincan Can Fuji. I feel that the whole person is cured! There will be a bus at 5 pm to go to the supermarket to buy something for an hour, not afraid of being hungry! The hot springs are charged separately, and you have to pay a little electricity, which does not affect this hotel to become the biggest highlight of my entire limp! Will definitely come again if there is a chance, Amway has several colleagues of mine! Come on!

This time I went to travel alone, but this homestay is very good. The cabin has two floors and all are cleaned! The toilet is separated from the bathroom, and there is a sofa and an open kitchen in the lobby on the first floor! The second floor is a bedroom. 2 single beds are added to the tatami outside the room. 4-5 people can sleep! The homestay is run by an old couple. The old lady is very warm and entertaining. In the face of foreign guests, she will take her mobile phone to explain to you. If you don't plan to stay in Asakawa or Kawaguchiko hot spring hotel, it is recommended to try this one! I hope the old couple will be healthy and see you next time! A lovely countryside style accommodation in the middle of rice fields is this 20 year plus family run business. Even made lovelier by the people who run the place- Miki was very hospitable and her attention to details of the needs of her clients was amazing. The villa where we stayed at had a large balcony with superb view of Mt. Fuji. The bathroom also has the view. I wish I can stay longer. I will definitely stay here if I am in this area again. The owner even brought us to have dinner at a nice place nearby and to do some shopping at a local store. A very relaxing retreat.

I always stay at the Cabin Inn Hotel, when I'm in Kawaguchiko They offer shuttle service to and from the hotel to Kawaguchiko Station as well as flexible biking rates. The staff is also warm and quite friendly. On my last trip, I got stung by a Japanese Giant Hornet while exploring the forest and the staff was quick to help with contacting the nearby hospital.
