DDakeMy partner and I visited Datong Ancient City, and choosing 'Boyuan' was the most delightful part of our entire trip!.
The guesthouse is tucked away in the heart of the ancient city, making it incredibly convenient to explore Huayan Temple and the city walls. It offers a tranquil escape amidst the bustling streets; stepping into the courtyard instantly shields you from the urban noise. The overall design is a new-Chinese-style courtyard, with blue bricks, wooden windows, lanterns, and greenery creating an elegant and refined atmosphere. Every corner of the courtyard is a picturesque scene, perfect for traditional-style photos. Spending leisure time sipping tea and enjoying the cool breeze in the courtyard truly immerses you in the slow-paced life of an ancient capital.
The room's cleanliness was impeccable, the bedding soft and comfortable, and the amenities complete and thoughtful. Given the dry northern climate, they even provided a humidifier. The soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a peaceful and restful night's sleep every evening.
I must particularly commend the butler and staff; their service was warm, attentive, and discreet. From check-in guidance and recommendations for local sightseeing to promptly addressing any daily needs, their attention to detail was exceptional. The daily breakfast was authentic and delicious, a comforting start to the day, reflecting their meticulous care in every aspect.
Staying at Boyuan was incredibly comfortable and relaxing, completely free of the usual constraints of being away from home. It felt like owning a private courtyard in the ancient city. I left with a heavy heart. I highly recommend Boyuan to couples and travelers visiting Datong, and I will definitely choose it again on my next visit to Datong!

1118942****On this trip, after leaving my job, I've stayed in many places, but Datong was the most surprising city. It's full of historical sites, delicious food, and a vibrant, down-to-earth atmosphere. But what surprised me even more was the guesthouse I chose. I did extensive research and ultimately decided to stay within the ancient city, which turned out to be incredibly convenient for dining, lodging, and getting around. It was fantastic and perfectly suited me.
Initially, I considered guesthouses in the Southeast District, but they were all new, and their styles were quite similar and unremarkable, much like guesthouses in other cities. So, I picked one with unique traditional Chinese characteristics, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The breakfast was exactly to my liking – nutritious and light. The room was warm and cozy, and the toiletry kit was amazing, with thoughtful items inside. Even though it's been in the ancient city for ten years, the decor and renovation show no sign of age; it's incredibly well-maintained. The housekeeper mentioned they had just upgraded all the rooms before my arrival, haha! 😄
This guesthouse truly helped my restless mind calm down. It felt like staying in a museum. The aunties and housekeepers working here told me stories about every single object and corner, which deeply moved me. This is what a guesthouse should be – unpretentious and full of stories. The biggest surprise this time was having the chance to meet the owner, a wonderful lady. She was so nice, I initially thought she was just another staff member; she had absolutely no airs. More importantly, her experiences and background are incredible – she does extreme sports and has even climbed Mount Everest! Talking with her made me feel so comfortable and helped me let go of a lot of things. Thank you for the encounter; it was truly destiny. This was the most unexpected gain from my trip to Datong, and I will definitely go back if I get the chance! It felt just like home, with no sense of unfamiliarity whatsoever.

TT.F. LaiWe had such a lovely stay in Datong! The hospitality here truly exceeded our expectations. The host was incredibly friendly, caring, and always ready to help with anything we needed. They even offered to do our laundry while we were out sightseeing, and folded everything neatly after it dried — such thoughtful service.
They also helped us order food and gave great recommendations, which made our trip so much easier. The room itself was surprisingly high tech, with a fun sound control system that made the stay even more enjoyable.
Although the room is on Level 2 with no lift, the host kindly carried our luggage up during check in and brought it down again when we checked out. Their helpfulness really made a difference.
Breakfast was lovely — nutritious, tasty, and just the right kind of start before heading out to explore.
Overall, we felt very welcomed and well taken care of. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Datong.

PPSOCWe were warmly greeted by friendly staff upon arrival, making us feel welcome right away. The check-in process was quick and smooth, and the team went the extra mile to help us register on their app as we are foreigners, ensuring we could easily access Wi-Fi and contact them if needed.
We had called ahead to request a humidifier and air purifier, and were pleased to find them already prepared in our room when we checked in. The room itself was spacious, impeccably clean, and very comfortable. The shower had excellent water pressure, and the inclusion of an electric toilet with a heated seat was a thoughtful touch, especially during the winter season.
Throughout our stay, every staff member we encountered was genuinely helpful and sincere in their service, always making sure we were well taken care of. We initially planned to stay from 6/12/24 to 8/12/24 but felt so at home that we decided to extend our stay for an additional two days.
A big thank you to the team at Mecure Hotel for their exceptional service and attention to detail. Me and my Husband had agreed this is best hotel in our 17 days China trip. We had a fantastic stay and look forward to returning in the future. Great job!

GGuest UserI've stayed at Jianguo Puyin hotels in several cities, and this one has the worst service. On my first night, I called to report that my toilet was clogged. They sent someone to unblock it, and I saw that person report it to engineering. The next day, I was out sightseeing, so I don't know if anyone came to fix it. By the third morning, the toilet was completely blocked, and water was leaking all over the bathroom floor. At this point, the front desk said they'd help me deal with it. I was literally about to check out! What's the point of fixing it then? So frustrating.

KKOKO KanitthaFantastic Datong Stay! This hotel was a gem! From the start, the experience was warm, kicking off with complimentary noodles and coffee—a lovely welcome treat.
The staff is exceptional. Even without speaking Chinese, their warm attention was constant. A huge thank you to Rachel and her colleagues! They were an absolute A-Plus for English speakers and flawlessly handled booking my local bus to the Xuankong Temple and Yungang Grottoes. Truly lifesavers!
The location is perfect, being just minutes away and easily walkable to both Datong Old Town and the magnificent City Walls. For convenience, there are plenty of local restaurants and a handy convenience store right nearby. The room itself was spacious, spotlessly clean, and refreshingly smoke-free, and the bed was very comfortable. It was great that we could slightly open the window to manage the heat and humidity. (Just a small note: I do prefer a standard showerhead to the rain shower, but that's minor!)

GGuest UserStaying at Ruifeng Tower was definitely the best decision for our Datong trip! The hotel is located right in the heart of the ancient city, within walking distance of attractions like Huayan Temple and Shanhua Temple, making it super convenient. The rooms have an antique charm, and when you open the window, you're greeted with the sight of traditional courtyards and intricate eaves.
What truly delighted me were the books in the room. Reading them before bed, the glory of Pingcheng during the Northern Wei Dynasty and the prosperity of the Liao and Jin secondary capitals came alive on the pages, adding a wonderful cultural depth to our journey.
The breakfast buffet was abundant, and the staff were warm and professional. Next time I'm in Datong, I'll definitely choose Ruifeng Tower again, to immerse myself in the unique charm of this ancient capital amidst its scholarly ambiance and historic beauty!

The service was excellent; the staff member, Xiong Fengqing, noticed medication on my table and proactively brought me chrysanthemum tea bags, along with extra bottled water. Breakfast was fantastic with a wide variety of high-quality options, including local Datong specialties. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Datong.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, checking us in quickly and even upgrading us to the best available room. To our surprise, we were greeted with a thoughtful welcome that included a fresh fruit basket, traditional Chinese soup, and complimentary tea.
The hotel offers an impressive breakfast selection, catering to both local and international tastes. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, and the beds are incredibly comfortable—making it easy to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
This was my second time staying at the Great Palace Hotel, and once again, it exceeded expectations. Its location is ideal—right in the heart of the city, close to all major tourist attractions and just a few kilometers from the train station. Special thanks to Manager 崔经理, who was exceptionally kind and helpful throughout our stay. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Datong.
