Logis Hotel au Tambour

We spent one night at the Hôtel Au Tambour to break our journey home from Germany to the UK. We booked a space in the garage and also breakfast for the next day. We were allocated room 3, perfectly adequate (not that big) which had a refurbished bathroom and good wifi. There was a complimentary bottle of water and some sweets and a mini bar with soft drinks for a small fee. The room had all that we needed but I did not realise until a little later in the day that it was actually quite warm even with the air-con on. Rooms 1, 2, and 3 are on the ground floor facing the swimming pool and the corridor outside is enclosed with glass - if we stayed again we would ask for a first floor room which was open to the outside and then we could have fresh air at night. The welcome on our arrival was friendly and we were directed to the secure garage a short distance away. This was very useful as our car was filled with bags and valuables from our travels. Parking is very safe, there is plenty of space in the garage and it is cool. There is free on street parking as well but the garage worked well for us. Breakfast was literally straight across the road in the other part of the hotel (very, very close) and the breakfast room is bright opening onto a little garden full of flowers. The breakfast spread was very good and everything was topped up regularly The lady in the kitchen was very helpful in showing me how the coffee machine worked (thank you)! We enjoyed breakfast here. The hotel is about a fifteen minute walk into Reims (safe and quiet) and the many restaurants to be found on Place Drouet D'Erlon, then a further ten minute walk to the cathedral. This is a good value hotel for an overnight stay whilst travelling across France - make sure to ask for a first floor room overlooking the pool.

We stayed in a brand-new room with blackout blinds and a very comfortable bed. Our car was secure in a locked garage. The breakfast was above average with excellent scrambled eggs made freshly by the owner to his special recipe. A very convenient City stop.

A very quiet location just 15 minutes walk from the centre of Reims. Quiet but well lit streets. Clean, warm, good shower, easy check-in and out, comfortable, air-con. Very reasonable price. Our 4th stay in this hotel

Staff was very helpful when we turned up at the hotel. The rooms were adequate for a short break. Nice relaxing seating on the balcony before you enter your room. The location was only 15 mins walk from the centre. The breakfast was amazing and the croissants were to die for. Garage facilities was very good for my motorbike. I would definitely go back here again.

Simple cozy room with good A/C (important with the heat wave) and refreshing small pool. Quiet. Good shower. Clean. Nice proprietors and good breakfast array.

We we pleasantly surprised by this lovely hotel. We arrived in the street and thought our satnav had brought us to the wrong place. When we realised it was right, we were checked in with a very pleasant welcome, the owner walked us directly to our room. He offered to carry our bags. He gave clear instructions of the rules, Ie no shoes by the pool. The room was spotless and very well laid out albeit small. Facilities in the room and bathroom were really good. Tea and coffee facilities and a mini bar, which included champagne, very apt for the region we were in. Breakfast was devine , not just continental, bacon, eggs, sausages and pancakes too. We were asked whether we preferred pan au chocolat or coissant, these were clearly ordered fresh from a local Boulangerie, they were huge and delicious. The walk to the historic part of Reims took us 25 minutes maximum. There was an abundance of different eateries to be found. Parking was plentiful at this hotel and we were offered the use of a garage if we so required. We highly recommend this hotel.

A lovely little hotel with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Super helpful staff and a nice pool for a welcome cool-down. A perfect stop-pff in Reims.

If I could give it a 0* I would. A year ahead booking cancelled the night before our stay at 9pm due to them overbooking the hotel and hung up on! Shocking customer service. Meant our last treat for partners birthday turned in to a 7 hour journey to find another suitable hotel near to the Ferry.
