An overnight stay for two at the Residence Inn, Hunt Valley, MD, was a disappoint, as some Marriott stays have been during the pandemic. Staff was pleasant enough at check in, but then sort of disappeared after that. When we checked out, no one was at the desk (an engineer/tech guy stopped a repair in an adjacent room to run a receipt). The room was a decent design, although the trend to remove two double beds and use a king plus hide-a-bed (uncomfortable to sit on, much less sleep), is not a plus. But the room was not ready for prime time use: The bath was not clean (urine stains on the toilet and a large clump of rust, usually an indication of long term vacancies, a tub/shower with tile that needed cleaning). The room seems to have suffered from pandemic removal: Two of most needed dishes, pans, flatware (but NO forks), minimal soap bars in the bath, no writing tools, no glass in the bath, etc. Stains on the ”dining chairs” upholstery and scars and damage on the walls suggested the room has been neglected. Breakfast was rather minimal: the standard prepared eggs, frozen sausage patty, and packaged sweet breads ala twinky . Apples and bananas were available. Cereals were individual packaged items, very sweet, not so fresh. Waffle makers and prepared batter -- we didn't sample. Overall, for a hotel that has rack rates well into the $100 -- 250 range, this didn't make it.

The hotel was very clean. And the manger there Lynn was so sweet and and helpful. The hotel breakfast was great and the housekeeping service was excellent as well. I will definitely be staying there again very soon cause my birthday is coming up in March. Thanks again and will be seeing y’all very soon.

Easy stay very complimentary it’s services very friendly staff the amenities were top notch and it was definitely worth the amount it cost I definitely look forward to staying again and would suggest this location to anyone who wants to have a relaxing evening

On the outside it is not inspiring. There is construction going on and it's tucked in between like a car dealership and other non-hotel businesses. I was worried as I drove up. But inside, it's its own little world. It is EXTREMELY clean. The breakfast was actually satisfying and the staff were friendly. The room was great. The only thing I would like to see is, as they replace their mini-fridges, that they use ones that have a separate freezer compartment. We had some frozen things we wanted to stay frozen, and the back wall of the mini-fridge was not up to the task. We slept great and it was conveniently located for where we needed to be. Very fair pricing as well.

The hotel was very beautiful. The bar and restaurant were comfortable but the drinks were very overpriced. The hotel accommodated an early check in without a charge which was a bonus. They did charge a $200 fee - which will be returned to my account, but I was not expecting that charge.

Short version. Upon check in the door was jarred open but the room seemed clean. Ahjee Washington. Left the front desk and took the situation personally. I told her it was not trouble but she said I have checked in all my guest and my co worker can handle the remaining while I take care of you. It was like 1am. Upon her survey of the room she found the lock to be malfunctioning and worked hard to match our room reservation. To continue to keep our valentines weekend plans without a hiccup. Walked us to the new room and upon our head nod she said great and followed up later that evening. Great start to a weekend that could have ended up going in the wrong direction. Details. Check in issues fixed by great customer service. Upon my check in. On Valentine’s Day we received our keys quickly and with verbal clarity. I can tell you how many time I have to lean over cause they talk to the screen. In this case the short stature host made eye contact and was clear. When we arrived at out room the bolt was thrown which left the door ajar. Having never experienced this I was alarmed and walked into a clean room and clean trash cans and sink. With the room looking undisturbed. I still felt bothered and went to the front desk. After hearing my story and hearing here tell another guest that they were full I was in negotiation mode to try and still salvage my valentine’s weekend in a comparable room. Ahjee Washington turned to her co worker and left the desk to look at the room with me. I have never experienced a reception person walking or escorting me to my room. Now initially I was thinking. This level of service is going to end up with we don’t have a room story or we have this room but it smoking or it's in repair. You know something other than what u liked at check in. After arrival she followed protocol I never noticed from a Marriott and I travel a lot. She went over the room thoroughly but before she went over it she offered a new room first but it was not the king bed suite. She reviewed the room as if to write a report. But not to challenge the guest. Cause I am sensitive to when i say something and if it is received as let me decide if what u are telling me is what is true. Upon return to the desk she paused and then said ok we have a cancellation. I am going to switch you to the exact same room. Winning. Great feeling. Problem resolved and i did not have to lose in the process. Also Ahjee. Figured out the lock had malfunctioned. Now how does a malfunctioning lock throw the dead bolt and causes the door to be ajar is another conversation. But she said I dont feel comfortable. We stayed in the Quality Inn & Suites in Edgewood for 9 nights. Because of CoVid, we experienced the following issues: • No Breakfast • No Pool • No Gym • Very infrequent housekeeping (2 times during our 9 night visit) Their website made no mention of these omitted services, nor were they mentioned on our reservation confirmation. When we arrived at the building, we saw a sign announcing that there would be no breakfast, pool or gym. When we checked in, we were not told about the limited room service. After two days with no room service, my wife called the front desk and were told that room service would occur twice a week. She explained that we needed fresh towels and additional soap, shampoo, and coffee. The man at the front desk said we would get those supplies at 8am the following morning. She explained that we had a very early morning and that would be too late. He said we could come to the front desk for supplies. We went downstairs with our dirty towels and ice bucket. As I went to fill the ice bucket, my wife went to the front desk with the towels. She said the man there continued to look down at his computer screen and ignored her until she said “Hello, aren’t you the man I just talked to on the phone?” Only then did he look up. He went to a back room and got us a couple bath towels. She had to ask for additional hand towels and wash cloths. She had to specifically ask about the other supplies. He went to a closet and found soap, then went to another area and found shampoo. Still no coffee. After asking again, we got two servings of coffee. No part of this interaction was hospitable. Edgewood is not the best area in Harford County, and we knew that ahead of time. What we didn’t expect was that the hotel had at least two exterior doors that did not lock. Each had a sign saying a room key was required to open the door, but the locks were broken. Anyone could have entered the halls of the hotel. One morning when we were leaving our room for the day, we went downstairs and there were three Harford County deputies standing in the hall outside of a guest room. That’s not something we ever expected to see in a hotel! The hotel had at least 3 ice makers. Two on the first floor were working, the one on the second floor was not. An “Out of Order” sign was on that machine. It remained that way throughout our stay. The temperatures were very high during our visit. The hallways were warm and some days smelled of mildew. On other days they smelled like air freshener. There was black mold on the exterior of the building near the back door closest to our room. The air conditioning in our room worked fine. Of the hotels in the area, it was the least expensive. The room seemed to be clean and the bed was comfortable. When we did get room service, it was good.
