Hot spring Hotels in Kyoto

Pros : Close to JR Kyoto station, just about 10 mins walk. Hotel looks quite new & very clean Rooms are spacious enough (considering Japan’s standard) Staff are generally friendly and always prompt to offer help. Very extensive breakfast buffet spread, literally one of the best we had before. Definitely worth booking a room package including breakfast. The only downside, the hotel tends to be a little overcrowded and bustling during our stay. It’s great for families but if you are looking for quiet or private getaway, then you may want to consider elsewhere.

Sora Niwa is conveniently located, and offers beautiful views of Kyoto. We usually book cheaper places to stay, but we feel we got our money worth as we used the onsens every day, as well as the relaxing terrace with the feet baths. They offer lots of freebies in the lobby, and the staff was very kind and polite. Would definitely recommend to enjoy a peaceful stay in Kyoto!

I and my mother stayed there for one night 20000 yen per person, with dinner and breakfast. It was a very comfortable stay. This was more like a hotel, except that we needed to walk around without your own shoes (without getting dirty feet) inside. It was fully booked on that day. We had an earlier check-in, which mean that we could enjoy our relaxing private Onsen bath without standing in line. We also tried the large onsen baths later in the evening after a long walk in the beautiful Arashiyama area nearby. It was hot, but great. One of the baths was outside in a Japanese garden. We got warmed up from the inside out, and had an ice popsicle before we went up to our room for good nights rest. We also enjoyed a huge dinner and breakfast, true local cuisine with typical taste in Kyoto that supposed to be refined and ”delicate” - you shouldn´t expect any strong taste, and correctly cooked. This supposed to be a 3-star-hotel, but the amenity was completed. We didn´t miss anything here. We thought the staff at the front desk were not amazing, but definitely not poor. We didn´t need to deal with them so much as we had good information in written form. Everything was clean and pleasant. Had absolutely nothing to complain. We would definitely love to come back again. My rating is 4 - not more or less. I certainly see that they still have a room for improvement, but overall I didn´t personally understand all the poor reviews.

The hotel couldn't find my booking and we spent quite a lot of time checking in as a result, but eventually that was resolved. Staff were friendly and rooms were clean. The shower you had to hold the nozzle or else it would spray all over the bathroom, which was a bit annoying. Beds were a bit on the hard side, but I personally like a slightly softer but supportive mattress. The AC has a very bright light that can make it hard to sleep if the unit is running at night.

Clean and comfortable room with daily house keeping, comes with all the toiletries I needed. Conveniently located at 3 minutes walk from the closest subway exit and also close to bus stations for routes to popular sightseeing spots. Self-service check-out machine was easy to use and the process took only half a minute. Suggest to add a clothesline and a magnifying makeup mirror in the bathroom, and the room would be perfect.

This hotel live up to its name, super hotel. It has super location, next to Nishiki Market and Shijo Kawaramachi bus stop and Kawaramachi Hankyu railway station. The hotel staff is very friendly, attentive and helpful. The breakfast is Buffett style with many choices of breads / pastries, soup, side dishes and drinks. There is also free drinks 6-8pm. The hotspring is the icing on the cake, really good to relax the muscle after all day walking. Definitely will stay here again when visit Kyoto

The room was spotless, the hotel service was very good, the delicious buffet was very cost-effective, and the hotel hot spring was very comfortable. The front desk of the hotel has Chinese service. Thanks to the hotel attendant: Ms. Huang, who patiently introduced us to the hotel's food and the characteristics of Kyoto and Uji. I would also like to thank the Beijing waiter at the hotel for booking the Kaiseki meal in Kyoto for us. A very satisfying stay.

This is the second hotel I stayed in Kyoto. Before going to Aman, I read some of posts here that the service was bad. I then quite regret to make a room reservation though I was impressed by the photos and posts from website. Besides, I had a bad first impression toward Aman Kyoto as they replied email for at least 3 days. This is not acceptable for such hotel with high room rate. When I arrived the hotel for the first day, I was quite surprised by the service. The hotel staff load my luggages from taxi efficiently and sent them to rooms directly. Then I was guided by another staff for check-in. She served me and my child a cup of green tea. This green tea is very special. Its taste is green tea but has a floral smell. My kid and I were very impressed. Unfortunately, I forgot to buy one before leaving. Then we went to Living Pavilion to have lunch. After lunch, our room was ready and a staff took us to the room and introduced us the facilities. The room is spacious, even the bathroom. We stayed in room 楢 . It is near the Living Pavilion, hotel’s restaurant. It is quite quiet. For our staying of two nights, we almost had dinner in room. The Udon noodle tastes good. My son ate it in lunch time and two dinner time. The hotel also provides welcome desserts for every night. First night is dried persimmon and the second night is chocolates. The chocolates are very very yummy. I tried the spa massage for two times. It is really good. As only me and my son in this trip, he couldn’t use the complimentary onsen. I then paid for a private onsen. It is very comfortable. The room’s pillows are very hard. My kid and I didn’t have a good sleep. We asked the front desk to give us a softer one for second night. It still doesn’t fit for me. Thus I didn’t sleep well during my stay. The breakfast had three choices: Western, Japanese and wellness. We tried western and Japanese breakfast. Both are delicious. Especially French toast in western style and porridge in Japanese style. The taste is unforgettable. The hotel environment is very comfortable. It is far away from the city. Only trees and grass around us. Everywhere has fresh air. It refreshes me. If the bed and pillow fit me, it will be perfect. We also had lunch in Tak-An restaurant. The food is good. The staffs are very nice and kids-friendly. They are very tolerant to kids. The check-out process is also very smooth. Everything is well-prepared, even our luggages. We booked a transportation to the Kansai Airport through the hotel. The driver is nice.

It was a little difficult to reach the ryokan as it was located deep in the heart of a residential district. However it was a quiet stay, and a very pleasant one. The rooms were clean and well maintained, and the bath facilities spacious and clean. The ryokan provided some sweets and tea for visitors. I only visited the onsen once, and was able to visit the bath on the left (facing the entrances) with two heated onsens on the lower level and one with a jacuzzi, and an upper level with an open air onsen and a cold water bath. Do note that the public baths close at 11PM, and the gender restricted public baths swap in the morning. If you are interested in dining at the ryokan, you may want to indicate a reservation beforehand. I unfortunately missed breakfast. Dinner was superb; the braised fish set was easily one of the best meals I had during my stay in Japan.

I used it for family trips. At first, I was looking for a large communal bath, so I could sleep. However, the hot springs in the large communal bath were good and the food was very good. Authentic Kyoto cuisine came out and it was better than the food I ate outside (laughs) The customer service was kind and perfect. The reason I cut one star is the view from the window ... This is the only complaint. I would like to repeat it if I have the opportunity.
