The Italian restaurant trattoria sette provides great pizza and pasta. The location is quite convenient given its proximity to Kyoto Station, thought it’s a bit far from Kawaramachi. There are bus stops connecting Gion, Higashiyama, Kawaramachi, Kyoto Station and Tofukuji quite near the hotel.

On one hand, it’s a gorgeous hotel with incredible, professional and helpful staff. Very comfortable accommodation (we booked the suite; room 401) with high spec finishing and serious eye to detail. All mod cons, first class shower/ toiletries and a bed you don’t want to leave. There’s a library on 3rd floor with Nintendo memorabilia and a well stocked whisky bar with a little outside space - very relaxing. On the other hand, the location isn’t great. Whilst only 1.6km from the action, you REALLY notice it, mainly due to one factor, food. A) there is no room service. B) there are literally 2-3 restaurants in a 7 minute walking distance (2 of which we went to and left after a drink). C) limited food at the hotel and at set times. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all need to be pre-booked (if not part of your room cost). All are set menus i.e. you have no choice. You get what your given with a decent price tag. We tried breakfast on our last morning and whilst the quality was good, it really wasn’t to our taste. The lounge has snacks but it’s literally that; cheese, ham, chocolate or cake. So if food and location are not top on your priority list, this is a strong 4*, maybe even a 5* hotel and experience. If they are though, overall it’s probably closer to a 3* experience and therefore, you question the value for money. Again, the staff were excellent and one of the highlights of our stay.

Advantages: The location is very good. It is a few minutes walk to the subway station. There is 711 opposite. It is very convenient to buy breakfast and late night snacks. Datang is very spacious. You can buy breakfast from 711 and eat here. The service is very friendly. Disadvantages: The toilet is too small. Another big problem is that the wifi is often disconnected. Not only is it stuck, but the network is often disconnected and does not work. I think this problem should be easily improved. Overall, the price and location are very cost-effective. If the wifi can be improved, I will choose here again next time. The fact that 711 is right downstairs is a plus.

It is a hotel that combines tradition and modernity. It is located in a very quiet area, just 15 minutes walk from the historic centre of Kyoto and 10 minutes from the station. It is an hotel with excellent reception service. They helped us with all our doubts, every morning when they left offered us bottles of frozen water to support the heat and helped us with the shipment of baggage to Osaka, they have a staff of 10! The room was wide, it had tatami floor, a very wide and comfortable bed and a living area. We tested the continental and Japanese and both were very diverse and complete! Another point in favour of the room was the bathroom with cedro bath, ideal for resting after spending the day by Kyoto! It is a very recommended hotel! A suite was set, and two rooms were connected together. The room was clean, with bathtub, shower, kettle, pot, bowl, wontons, cups, and we even cooked shin ramen in the room! It is within a 20-minute walk from Huajian Road and Kiyomizu Temple. The location is good. There are two bottles of drinking water in the room, and they are not given after drinking.

The location is very good, you can go to Kiyomizu Temple in the morning. I didn't watch the Gion Festival in summer but I saw the selection of the Gion Festival. The front desk India was very good with the staff. Breakfast is eaten in time and the flow of people is very good. There is a happy hour for dinner, a small cup of optional wine. No experience in the soup.

Beautiful Guest House with amazing hosts. This family run Guest House is amazing. It is as good as a 5 star hotel but better! The rooms are spotless and a good size for Japan with all the amenities you could need. However, that is not the best part - the best part is the host family who are very special indeed. From the minute I was collected at Kyoto Station by Emiko and her father I was treated with such kindness and enthusiasm. I felt like I was royalty! I must not forget the location, which is perfect for visiting all the local attractions, either within walking distance, or a short train ride from the local station which is just a 5 minute walk. If you stay anywhere else in Kyoto you are just missing out on the best Guest House there is.

When I first came to Kyoto, I didn't know which one to choose for a hotel. I saw the attractive price of this one, so I chose this one. After arriving, I found it very pleasant. It is 10 minutes away from Kyoto Station and the transportation is very convenient. It is very close to the Kyoto National Museum and Sanjusangendo! It is convenient for eating and shopping near the house, and there are also family convenience stores and some drugstores nearby.

I can't believe no one has reviewed this hotel yet. I went here a year ago (in May, actually), and despite there being a small staff due to the pandemic, they went out of their way to be as accommodating as possible. The location is also incredibly convenient-- an easy walk to some famous temples or the National Museum, and only a 15 minute walk to Kyoto Station. Also, I've measured every bed I've used since against the one I slept in here. Supreme comfort.
