I wouldn't take any notice of the previous 1-star review, looking at their account they rate a lot of things 1 star. I attended a small intimate wedding and held the wedding breakfast in one of the pods. I can honestly say it was phenomenal, the staff were kind and friendly and the attention to detail of the team on the day was nothing short of perfection. Charlie or Harry (Can't quite remember his name, sorry!) was our personal waiter in our pod, and he was top class, credit to him for doing everything he could to make it a great evening for the family - I do hope this feedback is fed back to him, as he was excellent throughout. I saw multiple rooms and can confirm the opposite of the previous review, the beds are lovely, the rooms are excellent and the showers are actually the best I've had in a hotel. I briefly mentioned it was my wife's Birthday just when talking to the staff, not thinking that comment went any further, but at breakfast, a plate wishing her Happy Birthday with some Rocky Road was there waiting - excellent touch! I know the staff did many other little personal touches to the new bride and groom and they had an amazing time at the hotel. The only constructive feedback I can provide is this: Room 9 had some false eyelashes and hair clips on the floor when we arrived and has been missed during the cleaning. The room itself was excellent, but this could have hurt our toddler's feet if he stood on the clips. Secondly, the WIFI could be improved by implementing a mesh WiFi system, rather than setting up several wifi connections. All in attendance had an amazing time, the food great quality and very large portions, the drinks were slightly on the higher side but to be expected, it is the staff however that make this place, my wife and I will be returning separately due to the experience we had here, I highly recommend.

I am currently laying here wondering if there are jagged rocks in the field or even a dead cow carcass outside that are more comfortable than this bed I have been given. I’ve stayed in a farm house before but this cost way too much to bring back that experience. The mattress is old and wafer thin and when I sat on the bed I thought I had fractured my pelvis. Realistically this place is great for food and always has been. The wedding huts are outstanding. But when the other guest rooms have you still waking up 8 times in the night AFTER 10-12 whiskeys then you know it’s just uncomfortable. There were elderly people staying here too, I can imagine they’ll have serious back problems now if they got rooms like these. Perhaps double it up as a Stanley Dungeon Tour? ‘Look kids it’s the original spine breaker torture bed from the Spanish Inquisition!’ Best let management know that the refurb they have been holding off on is now due. The mattress has a nasty smell too - like a gym bag. But I’m wondering if that’s because of the weak extractor fan and the bathroom door that doesn’t seal, letting the mattress to take in the damp. The empty airwick plugin on the floor suggests that someone here knows about the smell. Truly gutted we’ve paid for this. I could have slept outside. Unless you tell me this mattress is some sort of ancient relic that they are preserving because some motorcycle hero like William Harley or Arthur Davidson slept in it once, I won’t be staying here again. Not until they advertise the overdue refurb. Just looked at google for bookings on a Saturday. Anywhere from £191-490. No. Just no.

We got married here on the 15th May 2024, we booked the drive through wedding package & it was amazing! The venue was absolutely gorgeous and more than we’d imagined. We’d like to thank all the staff that played a part it making our day so very special, absolutely nothing was too much trouble & they really did put us at ease. We’d like to also thank all restaurant staff for taking our favours and table plans and bringing everything to life for our wedding meal, the food was amazing & again nothing was too much! All our guests commented on the food, venue and staff saying how fantastic everything was & some are even planning another trip back. We really can’t wait to visit again, it’s now a very special place to us!

Booked for Sunday lunch with the family, the staff were fantastic when we asked if they could provide a cushion for our mum who is quite frail, (we forgot to pack hers) she ended up with the most comfortable seat in the house, with a pillow and a cushion. This allowed her to sit and enjoy her meal with visiting family. The food was as usual fresh and well cooked, please bring your appetite with you, the portions are very filling. We’ll be back soon.

The visit was a present for my wife off our Daughter for Afternoon Tea. Lovely location. Very pleasant staff. The afternoon tea that we had was not for the faint hearted, to be honest we are both not big eaters, there was a good selection of sandwiches scones and cakes which were well presented on mini picnic tables. One arrived and we both thought that would do us both and then the second came . Every thing was fresh and well presented. We had to ask for a take away box because we just couldn't eat everything and the staff were happy to oblige. We rated the venue highly and would recommend it .

I’d like to thank all the staff that played a part it making mine and my wife’s big day run smoothly and a very special thanks to Andrew in particular for giving us that VIP treatment and made sure we were always looked after.

I stayed here for one night for my anniversary this month and it wonderful. We had a lovely meal in the evening and the customer service was great. We were treated very well and the meal was so nice it convinced us to try their breakfast options before leaving in the morning. Having the restaurant so close to the hotel was so convenient and easy as we were not up for travelling.

I can't wait to return! The meal was one of the best I've had for a while. They're back serving large portions again and the quality is wonderful. Loads of attentive staff. It's a quirky place to eat, with a real fire in the pub. Definitely going back with extended family.
