"It was my first time staying in a university dorm as a tourist. It reminded me of my student days. The reception staff who handled our check-in were very friendly and most helpful. At the reception, we learnt about the self-service laundry, breakfast, convenient shop, bar and lounge etc. The room was of a decent size. In fact larger than some hotels. The ensuite toilet and shower were small but adequate. WiFi was strong enough. Good that there was a lift. Tourists like us do carry quite heavy baggage.. Although the room faces the open space where students gathered, the noise did not pose any issue at all. It did not go on late into the night. There were a few lounges. A pantry. A games room. Breakfast was really very good. The restaurant was huge. The buffet was well organised. Food was freshly cooked. Eggs, sausages, haggis, cereals, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, all kinds of bread, etc. The atmosphere was incredible. Just like any campus full of youthful energy. The campus was beautiful just at the foot of Arthur's Seat. And bus transport to the city centre is readily available. It is actually not far to walk."

"The place was clean, the location was convenient, and the staff were friendly. Having a locker in the room for storing belongings was a definite plus. I also had the good fortune of having very considerate roommates, which meant I enjoyed some great sleep during my stay."

"It was an old hotel right in front of the Scott monument. I loved the location, it was very convenient. The room also had a bath, which is rare for a room within its price range. Breakfast was rather simple, but was enough for me. I highly recommend."

"A last minute booking as my flight was delayed and couldn’t make connecting train, everything was fine, bottom bunk a little short on headroom but fine for sleeping, everything clean but energy saving toilets often didn’t flush but thats just down to water power, Perfect location could’ve better placed with its own bar and 5 mins walk to train station and city centre"

"My sister and I loved our stay we got a very warm welcome at check in our room was clean and the facilities was more than we expected in our room it was very spacious we did not check out the food but will nxt time I go we were very central to everywhere in Edinburgh local pubs ,attractions also supermarkets for provisions for ourselves bus services were easy to get to from our destination to city centre and attractions Edinburgh and our Hotel did not disappoint us"

"We went for my 25th birthday and the hotel really did make the trip. Special shout out to Lacey who checked us in. She upgraded us to the most lovely room for my birthday which had the most unbelievable views and such a nice room. We loved watching the sun rise from Arthur’s seat out of our window🌅 Really easy check in process and her lovely service made it even better! The staff in the hotel are lovely, super clean hotel and in a perfect location ( a very short walk to the royal mile and Arthur’s seat). We can’t wait to return to this hotel on our next trip to Edinburgh☺️"

"Hostel is super cheap and about 15 mins walk to Princes Street, so quite central. My room was ensuite, and the shower was moder, with great pressure. I have stayed here multiple times and some rooms, especially the non-ensuite rooms, have problems with clogged drains, this room didn't! I wish there was a kitchen like some other hostels to make our meals."

"We stayed at Mount Royal Hotel in Edinburgh for 4 nights. The rooms are small but clean, and our room had a stunning view of the Scott Monument—definitely a highlight! The bathroom was quite compact as well, and the beds weren’t very soft, but for the price, the location is unbeatable. Just a 5-minute walk to charming bakeries like The Milkman, and so convenient for exploring the city. The staff were incredibly sweet and polite, making our stay even more enjoyable. Don’t miss the view from the bar near the reception—it’s gorgeous!"
