AangsumanbhanjdeoOne rather expects that a stay at a Hilton, a brand one has long held in considerable esteem, would meet a certain standard of hospitality. Regrettably, this particular establishment fell woefully, almost impressively, short. Upon retiring to our room after a long day, we discovered, far too late in the evening to make alternative arrangements, that we had been allocated a room adapted for disabled guests, a fact that necessitated all manner of inconvenient provisions simply to make the facilities usable. One does wonder why such rooms are assigned without so much as a courteous forewarning. To compound matters further, the washbasin drained at a pace one can only describe as glacial, leaving the bathroom floor in a thoroughly disagreeable state. Not wishing to cause a scene at such an ungodly hour, we soldiered on, which, in hindsight, was far more grace than this establishment deserved. Seeking the modest comfort of a pair of slippers, hardly an extravagant request in a hotel of this supposed calibre, I contacted housekeeping, only to be informed, with the practised efficiency of someone reciting a well-worn script, that they had none available. The response came without apology, without sincerity, and without a single alternative offered. What truly sealed this review, however, was the checkout. Upon raising these entirely legitimate grievances with the receptionist, we were met with the sort of detached, performative *”sorry”* that one might extend to a stranger one had lightly bumped into in a corridor, utterly hollow and entirely unbefitting of the occasion. She carried on with her business quite unruffled, as though the comfort of her guests were a minor inconvenience to her morning. In short: the location is agreeable, that much I shall concede, but the standards are simply not commensurate with what one pays, nor what the Hilton name implies. One ought not to have to interrogate the front desk simply to ascertain whether one's room is fit for purpose. That is not a burden a paying guest should bear. We shall be reconsidering future bookings, and I would strongly counsel prospective guests to enquire rather thoroughly before committing. Standards here, I'm afraid, are not quite what they ought to be.

LLord RoweI have stayed in 100s of Hotels. I now try to avoid the chrome & glass gin palace type. I use budget hotels for a one night stay. However this was a 5 day break to celebrate my partners 60th birthday. The Hotel was wonderful, historic building but maintained well. Lovely staff who made us feel very welcome. A lovely cooked to order breakfast and the evening meal was cooked to perfection and our waiting staff were better than most restaurants. The room was perfect, cleaned when we required and the location is perfect. There is a bus to town every 15mins which is just 3 stops away. If you are visiting Bath this is the best hotel to stay in.

GGuest UserThe hotel is an incredible building which must take some maintenance. We booked a double room for one night and arrived at lunchtime with the intention of sightseeing in bath for a couple of days. The hotel was happy for us to park all day both days which was great. The check in process (after 3pm) was very easy and we had a very clean room with plenty of towels, 2 robes and slippers for the spa/pool. The double room had a king size bed which was very comfortable. The hotel pool was crowded and looking a little tired but was as expected. The outside heated pool was very nice and relaxing. We didn’t have any spa treatments or use the gym but both looked well kept and the gym had good modern equipment. We didn’t eat in the restaurant preferring to find a restaurant in bath itself. Breakfast was a bit of a chaotic affair with several hotel staff doing various jobs with no apparent coordination. The wait for a table, then coffee was long and then we had to wait again to order breakfast. The whole process of breakfast took well over an hour which is poor. It was clear that there was no clear process as some tables were getting their cooked breakfast before us even though we were taken to our table 30 mins before them. The little waiter man with his paper pad was a bit useless. When the ‘full English’ breakfast came it was a small plate of well cooked food but not really as described in the menu. In terms of portion size it was more like a kids breakfast. We weren’t served any toast either and had to ask for it unlike other tables who received it with their drinks order which seemed a bit weird. The continental buffet was a bit scarce with no bowls or spoons so we had to use our fruit juice glasses for the yogurt and fruit. The whole thing could be improved with a breakfast buffet under a hot plate if they haven’t got enough staff to serve it.

GGuest UserThe hotel all in all is very good. Clean, polite staff and location is perfect. Parking will have to be in the public parking around the corner which is about £20 for a day. Online it said the hotel offers halal food but once we got there they said they aren't sure they do it. The staff also informed us that we wouldn't be able to eat at the restaurant that day because they were booked for a function, but we feel this should've been communicated beforehand by email etc. Other than this I think this hotel is the best in the area and is very classy and welcoming.

GGuest UserI'm so disappointed with their service when it comes to cleanliness..I do understand how busy this time of the year, but they should be consistent with it comes to cleanliness.I always choose HOLIDAY IN EXPRESS because I have very good experience last year (NEW YEAR) in scotland branch and it was amazing experience..so I thought it would be the same here in HI Express Bath..We travelled as a family and my son 11y/o is Autistic, with ADHD and OCD as well as allergies...this kind of bed(sofa bed LINEN is unacceptable to whoever will stay there...we were told to wait until we occupied our room for this sofa bed to be ready, still we are not provided with bed sheets for this...really devastating,so sad and disappointing...

LLiam and JennyAttended on Tuesday 27th Feb. Paid a little extra for room with a bath as like the couple ****** we are, we wanted a bath in Bath. My wife's first time ever visiting here. The hotel is a lovely setting, there is history here and all the staff have been wonderful. Close to the station, literally in front of it, and close to everything. Had the great pleasure of having many encounters with Tim, one of the reception staff and I believe concierges. Super pleasant and always helpful. We had breakfast included and after having that this morning can honestly say it's bang for your buck, with hot food to order including steak and eggs, (best steak my wife has had in the UK), a breakfast grill and a selection of others plus a typical selection of baked goods and fruits. The bar is pleasant and we enjoyed drinks last night before heading up to our room. Strawberry daiquiri we have had many times but the Amaretto sour was an interesting twist with a strong lemon zest. The only downside to the visit would be the bath/shower experience. Lukewarm bath and cold shower when we attempted it last night. This morning we got hot water for a total of ten mins to share before it went cold again. Not the worst thing all in all but a downside considering the extra pricing for a bathtub room. I was however assured that had I brought it to the desks attention I would have been assisted and I had just done the British thing of not wanting to fuss. One last perk that made an impact to me; free luggage storage. We checked out early so we could make the best of our time exploring Bath before we ride home. We were offered free luggage storage for even after we checked out so we could come back in quick before our train at 3pm and grab our bags and go, no extra charge. Fantastically useful as the Abbey tour does not allow luggage inside and we wanted to go. Anyway, thank you to Tim and all the staff at The Royal for making us feel welcomed and our time there special, we will definitely be coming back someday soon and will stay again. - Liam and Jenny Stephenson, Room 109. MmabelchangA typical mountain resort hotel. Located high up in the mountains, the roads are narrow, making passing cars difficult. This location is only suitable for those who drive. Those who don't drive are better off staying in a city hotel. The building is a bit dated, but fortunately, there's an elevator. There's ample parking at the entrance.
