The Stratford Hotel London

Stratford London|2.42km from Wanstead Park
I stayed at the Stratford the first week of October 2022. The location of this hotel is great, right next to the Stratford International Train station and the Stratford Tub station. I flew in from the US so I arrived to the hotel around 11:30 AM. They said my room was not ready and they “reminded me” the actual check in time would be 3:00 PM. I understood since my arrival was early, I headed to the lobby for drinks and lunch. I checked back with the front desk around 1:30 thinking maybe they called housekeeping to get to my room cleaned quicker but no, still not ready. As I sat in the lobby I would see other customers arrive and get checked in, I found it strange their rooms were ready but not mine. I patiently waited until 3:05 PM, went to the front desk to get my room key….. room still not ready. I have now been sitting in the lobby for almost 4 hours and my room was still not ready. I don’t think they ever called housekeeping to work on my room. It was finally ready at 3:30 PM. Not a good start to my stay, the front desk staff was not helpful, apologetic, or even caring at all. Later (after I requested to speak to a manager) I did get a call to apologize and offer me some free food, I declined stating they need to better manage the cleaning and check in process. Front desk staff on Sunday 10/2 not great at all. But the lobby, bar, and restaurant staff really turned around my initial poor arrival. I cannot say enough about how attentive the wait staff and bartenders were all week. Remember I had to sit in the lobby almost 4 hours on my first day. But each day after work I would come to the lobby/bar areas for drinks and dinner each night. Each morning I had breakfast in the restaurant and it was great. Again the service was amazing and the hostess delivered a great morning welcome. Room was nice well appointed. Coffee maker, safe, and small refrigerator. Large flat screen TC and nice desk to work at. I was in room 419 with a nice view. Bathroom was nice and the shower was very nice as well, walk in. I had an early flight out the 7th so I was worried about what sort of front desk staff would be helping me at 5:30 AM. Well they young man that was attending the front desk was efficient, professional, and very friendly. A nice end to my stay.

It's hard to find this hotel first, No visible sign on display 🙂 No service at all, I booked a double bed room included with breakfast, there was no reception to check 🙂🙂 There was one mobile number on the room door but nobody answered my calls for our breakfast and I couldn't find anybody to handover the room keys for check out , so I had to leave the keys nearby the door itself. Totally disappointed and highly unprofessional, not recommended 👎👎👎

Stayed here as visiting London for the Queens lying in state. Not familiar with London as mainly stay up north other than coming down for days for Wembley finals. This place is great! May have had a refurb in 2022 as previous reviews dont seem to add up to our stay. Room very clean and comfortable. Staff lovely. Ample parking. Breakfast fantastic buffet and good quality. Hot options and cereal. Clean and plentiful tables. Staff very friendly and reception manned most hours of the day. Clean bed linen and towels. 10 minute walk to the nearest tube. 5 minutes to bars and shops and literally over the road to a 24 hour Maccies if arriving back from town v late. Fuel station also opposite. Easy to find. Literally turn left off after the North Circular road. Clean quiet comfortable. Will definitely use this place again now weve found somewhere clean comfortable and reasonable just outside the city. London just got a lot easier for us to visit.

We were able to stay comfortably. The ground floor is a pub and there is a lodging room on the upper floor. Check-in was done at the pub counter. It may be hard if the luggage is heavy because you need to climb the stairs to the room. The single room I stayed in was an attic on the top floor, with open and closed skylights, sunlight in the daytime, moonlight in the night, good view, not bad room. It was a skylight with a screen, so I could darken the room if I lowered the screen. The room was convenient with TV and refrigerator. The shower room and toilet were shared. I can't use the kitchen. Going out after check-in had to go in and out from the back door of the hotel. The lock of the back door needed a little trick to open. Breakfast was served with English breakfast. Simple and delicious. The location is a short walk from Forest Gate station in a 10-minute walk. The hotel is located in a residential area, but the sidewalk was uneven and it was difficult to roll the suitcase.

This hotel is basic, don’t be put off by that m. It’s not the Ritz but serves the purpose of a hotel while in London. The breakfast was absolutely fine my friends had a fry up and said it was fine. I had a continental and again it was fine. Breakfast is between 7-9am Be aware they are very prompt at finishing on time. The rooms were clean The shower was brilliant. They offer free parking too which is behind closed doors so it is safe. The downsides…. They only issue one key The rooms only have 1 chair (inconvenient when the weather is good you can all sit down). The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will be back in the future.

Whilst the hotel was in a good location and had most of the amenities we required, our room did not have any hot water and so we had to have cold showers. When we complained on check out we were advised there was nothing they could do about it at that time and wouldn't offer any compensation as we should have reported it when we were still in the room and given them chance to come and fix it. Anyone staying in a room for business, I am sure would agree, there is no time to get undressed, shower, realise no hot water, get dry/dressed, make a phone call and wait for it to be fixed and then try to shower again. I think its fair ta assume when paying £168 for room for one night that there would be hot water for a shower......
