Hart House Hotel

I stayed in the Astor Room at the Hart House on a bikepacking trip from May 26-May 27. While this room had an interesting design, it fell short in several key areas that made it impossible to get a good night's sleep. -The air conditioner was a separate unit that rests on the floor and was extremely loud all night long. Even though I set the fan part of the a/c to stay on consistently, it regularly turned itself on and off all night, which constantly had me wake up. My friend's room on the 2nd floor had central air conditioning that was very quiet and her room was much less expensive than mine. -The air conditioner was due for a filter change, as indicated on the light. Not a huge deal, but it makes me question the upkeep of the room overall. -The room had several windows with blinds, but the one above the bathtub (which is in the main room and not hidden behind a door) did not have blinds. It is located just a couple of feet from a window in another building that had a light on all night long. The light was extremely bright into my room at the Hart House and again, made it impossible to sleep. I used clothing hangers and spare towels to rig up a makeshift curtain, but it didn't help much. It feels neglectful that the owners failed to provide blinds on this window, considering they did so on the rest. -Bathtub water pressure was very low. -Overhead vent in the bathroom was coated in dust. Makes me question how regularly they're deep cleaning these rooms. My friend stayed at a much less expensive room down stairs that had none of these issues. I've expressed these concerns to the owners through their online feedback form last week, but they never responded, so I wanted to warn other travelers about the poor quality of the Astor Room. For a total of $190, this room was overpriced and left me wishing I had stayed anywhere else. Do yourself a favor and avoid it!

The hotel has character, but is not really ready to be the boutique hotel it wants to be. They call the furniture vintage, but it looks more like they got it from the street where someone was throwing it out. There was mold in my room and an exposed pipe had a hole in the ceiling over the bed. There is no one on staff there full time, so unless you’re lucky to see the manager there is no one to express concerns to until you call. They seem to be renovating one room at a time. There are ten rooms. The one we were in was not done yet. It is convenient to the village and has a coffee shop and bar. The hours that they are open are not posted. We had a room with a complete kitchen, yet I couldn’t see anyone staying in the hotel long term. There was a sink and shower in the bathroom, but no place to put makeup on. The bathroom had the only good mirror. Place needs work.

We loved our stay at the Hart House Hotel. We chose Medina because we were looking for a nice/cozy hotel to stay in for an overnight getaway and the Hart House Hotel looked like a winner. It was! The reservation and check in process was seamless, our room was clean and bright and as advertised. The building itself is a beautiful old girl and we enjoyed looking at the old photos on the walls. Our room was comfortable and the bed - oh boy...SO comfortable. The only 2 downsides were the view (there wasn't one, but that was not advertised so not expected) and the shower was luke warm at best. We just could not find the sweet spot for a hotter shower. Not a deal breaker by any means and possibly user error. :) We went to the Shirt Factory for cocktails after dinner at Fitzgibbons Irish pub and then the next morning for brunch and the food/drinks were AMAZING. We were happy to have such a convenient place for breakfast before heading out. All in all, we loved our stay and Medina is a beautiful little town. We enjoyed all aspects of our visit and plan to go again!

Very nice and clean. Top notch service. When the owner found out my 2 year old son was with us he upgraded us to a larger room for no extra cost. Would definitely stay there again. We stayed in Loft B2. This room has a full kitchen which was a nice upgrade.

The hotel is amazing. The design is Very unique. It was spacious, clean and all amenities were provided. It felt like the comforts of home We loved it. Beds were very comfortable It felt like an apartment and looked like one of the apartments you might see on tv that you envy. 5 star plus

This hotel has great character. The room was cozy & quaint. Each room has a unique theme. I enjoyed the complimentary Fiji Water, coffee & daily personal necessities included. It is located walking distance to restaurants, shopping, coffee shop & a cycle studio.

Nice rooms and receptive staff but tv had no sound and no bath towels. Problems were solved quickly but these items should be checked each day

Room is incredible with fantastic views of a quaint little village at Christmas time and walkable to so many shops and restaurants. Andrew is very accommodating and answers any questions immediately. There is nothing that feels like a hotel. It feels like you are coming home. Thank you for everything!

This was a totally unique hotel experience for the three of us, a delightful blend of factory-era structure and modern convenience and innovation. We loved the cushioned window seat that extended over the sidewalk just 30 feet from the hub of Medina. Make sure to visit the extraordinary train museum a short walk away.
