"Beyond the official Tulou attractions, the proprietress also took us to a private spot (Pic 3). It was a lovely place where adults could enjoy tea and conversation, while children could play in the water and even try catching fish. It was absolutely wonderful! It truly felt like an escape to a secluded paradise – incredibly quiet, and there wasn't even any phone signal. A perfect opportunity to completely relax and unwind. Pictures 1 and 2 showcase the collection of old furniture and farming tools the proprietress has curated on the guesthouse's rooftop. It's a very thoughtful touch, and city kids found them particularly fascinating."

"Our little one wanted to see 'A Yuan's Home,' so we brought the picture book and came to stay. This guesthouse is located within the Tianluokeng Tulou Scenic Area in Nanjing. It's easy to find if you're driving, and personally, I found it even better than the Yunshuiyao Scenic Area – fewer crowds and stunning scenery. It's also very close to Taxia Village, which you can reach by cycling or walking. There, you can visit the 700-year-old Yuchang Lou, famously standing 'crooked but firm,' and grab a meal at the Xiaogqiao Liushui Restaurant. Just a heads-up if you're driving, be mindful of parking restrictions. Getting to Tianluokeng's iconic 'Four Dishes and One Soup' cluster is also super convenient, just a ten-minute drive. The Tulou are truly magnificent!
The guesthouse hostess is incredibly nice, and they have a lovely Golden Retriever named Xiao Chai, who is very friendly and well-behaved. We booked a duplex room with a living area downstairs and the sleeping area upstairs. It even came with a projector, which was a huge bonus! But the real highlight was the in-room washer-dryer combo – such a thoughtful and convenient amenity!"

"I saw on Xiaohongshu that Guoguo's mom recommended this hotel. I ate at the hotel on my first night, and the food was okay. As long as you don't have too high expectations, it's acceptable. After all, the conditions in the village are definitely not as good as in cities like Xiamen. The service was almost non-existent, but they were at least polite to people. The hygiene was quite clean, but the mosquitoes there were really terrible. I didn't see any mosquitoes, but I saw huge welts on my hands and legs."

It's located in Taxia Village. It's very rural and quiet. There are shops and restaurants just a short walk away. We stayed here while sightseeing in the Tulou. If there is staff at the front desk, they will serve you tea. We were also given some tea leaves as a souvenir. There is also a play area for families with children."

"The Yunshui Yao Scenic Area is not very big. This homestay is very close to the waterwheel, just a few steps away. It is not too close to the scenic area and is located in a quiet area in a bustling city.
The aunties and uncles at the B&B were very welcoming. Although the breakfast was simple porridge, eggs and pickles, the pickles were pretty good. During breakfast, the uncle also introduced some cultural history of the Tulou.
The experience of staying at Yunshuiyao at night is much better than during the day and it is worth staying."

"The accommodation feels good, the room is hygienic and clean, the layout is simple and elegant. I especially like the beautiful scenery that can be seen through the two large glass windows. The boss is an enthusiastic person, and the dishes he cooks are delicious, especially the steamed light fish, which is delicious. "The girl at the front desk was very warm and thoughtful, and she would help us solve the problem in time if there were questions and answers, and give her a thumbs up 👍.
The hotel's hardware facilities are almost, the USB charging interface is not available, the sink drain connection is not closed, and the hand water comes out, making the sewage overflow, and the shower room is very inconvenient without putting things.
The decoration of the hotel is not much for a long time. The key is management. There are a lot of dirt on the tiles on the bathroom wall. I can wipe it clean with wet paper towels. No one pays attention to this. So the key is whether the management staff really pays attention to it.

"It was an impromptu trip to see the earth buildings. I found Nanyuan Inn on Ctrip. I was unexpectedly surprised. It turned out to be a renovated earth building with unique design. It is in a village that has not yet been developed for tourism. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers and has few people. , suitable for daze. The lady at the inn is super enthusiastic and feeds us all kinds of dried fruits and peanuts, and the meals are all delicious."

The homestay is located in Taxia Village which is quieter and less commercialized in Tulou scenic areas that provide lots of privacy for the guests. The room and the building are located just next to the clear water stream. At night, I can even hear the stream of water flowing sounds. The villagers are very friendly to the tourists walking around. They are not pushy about selling any commercial products to tourists which is very contrast to the other commercializedTulou scenic areas. The owner/host is very hospitable, friendly, and helpful. This differentiates from the other hotel staying experience. I also got help on how to get around the Tulou scenic areas and where to get reasonable price restaurants from the host.

The couple is very friendly and helpful and easy going.
After confirmed booking, the owner immediately contacted me to understand better on our needs.
The owner even upgraded our rooms to a much bigger room at no extra charge.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable & clean.
We had our dinner at the inn. The wife is a good cook. The food is nice at a reasonable price.
We also had our breakfast here. They charge a very budget price, only rmb10 per pax for the breakfast.
We feel at home when staying here & the stay is really comfortable.
Wil choose to stay here again.

JJianiniOn our drive back to Beijing from Sanya, we were enjoying the journey when our child suggested seeing a Tulou. We made a spontaneous decision to visit this place. The owner was incredibly friendly, and we learned so much chatting with them. This Tulou is over a century old. Initially, I noticed the windows had no glass and thought it was just for ventilation, only to discover they actually had a clever little mechanism! Haha.

BB.tayThis place is a gem! Located in Taxia village, rooms are above a wine brewery. It is very clean, comfortable & cosy, equipped with heater (it’s winter) brightly lit if you’re looking to stay at the hakka village. The village itself is very beautiful both during the day and night. The owner is kind and polite who waited for us despite a very late check-in. We had a taste of her Chinese wine after dinner and they were all very good! I especially liked the plum and white wine. Bought them and they were packed nicely to withstand air travels. Highly recommended place to stay, a nice experience staying here! Wished we had more time. For breakfast you can go to the restaurant opposite which served very nice dishes. The villagers are very friendly too!

Excellent location to explore Yunshuiyao and visit both Hakka houses Huaiyuanlou and Heguilou along the river within walking distance. Excellent service - free afternoon tea and fruits in the evening. Restaurant also is very good. Reception helped us with the car for to visit Tianluokeng cluster.

GGuest UserWhat an amazing experience to live in the “chopsticks” buildings of the four dishes and one soup! This was a small and beautiful village and the family who ran the inn helped us carry our luggage up to the inn and later down to the inn. When we arrived they cooked a dinner which was reasonable in price based on a local menu. And then during dinner, they told us that one of the family members will be running a free tour of the Tulous of four dishes one soup for us in which they explained the history of the building of the tulous, especially the oval shaped tulou. Our guide was very funny with his stories (he spoke in Chinese) and it was a lovely time seeing the artists and candy makers in the Tulous. I would highly recommend this place. We did have to bring our own towels (or at least we brought our own and they didn’t supply one), so maybe best to check.

The water heater has a large capacity, so you can take a comfortable bath without any problem. It has its own parking lot and is very convenient for self-driving. The location of the B&B is very close to the viewing platform of Four Dishes and One Soup, which has the advantage of seeing the lights and entering the village at night. The landlady usually drinks tea in the front hall. When you pass by and she is free, she will invite you to drink tea and chat with her. The boss will tell you about travel strategies when he has free time, and even take you for a walk in person.

The owner's hospitality was outstanding. He proactively shared route suggestions that helped us avoid numerous inconveniences, saved significant costs, navigated tricky junctions, and led us to many distinctive sights, including fruit groves, forests, and tea fields.
Regarding the accommodations, it's important to remember this is a mountain setting, and with the recent rainy season, facilities are understandably modest. However, the pricing reflects this context and provides an authentic, rustic experience that urban hotels simply can't offer.
Above all, the food here is absolutely scrumptious! Dining in is a must to savor their delicious Hakka-style cuisine.
My biggest takeaway is the owner's genuine warmth and the wonderfully relaxing mountain environment, offering a perfect, temporary escape from the city's ceaseless clamor.
