Very nice hotel with great location and rooftop pool and terrace with amazing views of river and mountains. The staff was friendly but not a lot of people at the front desk spoke English. We also had a breakfast which was quite good. I would recommend to add some western choices like pancakes, ham, cheese, yogurt bowls.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful from the moment I arrived. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything I needed. I especially appreciated the attention to detail and the peaceful atmosphere, which made my stay relaxing and enjoyable. The location was also perfect—close to major attractions and convenient for exploring the city. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay, and I look forward to returning in the future.

We loved this hotel! The service is excellent, the staff team is trying to make your stay comfortable. You won’t miss anything here. They even have a area where the kids can play and feed with rabbits. The room in which we stayed is spacious, clean and nice decorated. The breakfast is good, there are many choices. Hotel is at walking distance from the elephant hill trunk and two rivers and four lakes. Reed flute cave is approx. 15 min drive from hotel. Will come back here again!

We stayed in a family suite and it was perfect for our family of 4. The breakfast was delicious and the view was incredible. The kids crafts were amazing and unique and truly a gift our kids will remember forever. The location was perfect, along a beautiful walkway and close to many restaurants and shops. The hotel staff were so kind to accommodate us as we arrived very early and we were tired from an overnight train trip. The checkin and out was smooth and the amenities were very clean and nice. Wonderful place, we will be back on our next trip to Guilin! I only wish we were able to stay longer!

Front of house staff were very nice, helpful and very welcoming. They answered our many questions and it was not a bother to them.

We are very satisfied with this hotel, I would say this is the best hotel that we ever stayed. The hotel room is clean and super comfortable. Staffs are friendly, polite and helpful. The rooms are clean, have enough space and amenities. Towels , water, fridge, AC, a spacious bed. The shower is standout: spacious and with lots of water pressure. The only downside is that the AC system sometimes seemed to be unable to attain the target temperature. Always below 22°C though, so it was ok.
The hotel is located centrally enough, though the neighborhood is nothing special. When arriving we took a short taxi ride (9 min) to see the sun and moon pagodas and eat something.
The views from the hotel are really great. We had a nice view of the city, the Li river and a temple built on a mountaintop (in the middle of the city) from our room.
Check-in and breakfast are at the top floor, which has a great 360° view of everything. The breakfast itself was good, with options both western and chinese.
The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. The 24/7 concierge service (you need a WeChat account, which is a necessity when traveling in China anyway and is easy to create) helped us book a Li river cruise to take the next day, and made sure we knew the details.
All in all, I would recommend the hotel for a short stay in Guilin.

Wonderful short stay in Guilin. You can also arrange trips and cruises on the Li River at the front desk. The staff was very polite and welcoming. Breakfast has few western options, but it is to be expected. I really appreciated that they opened the breakfast a bit earlier and allowed us to have more time since we left for a cruise at 7:25

Room was big enough for all 4 of us. Very clean and great location. Sound insulation wasn’t the best but it was acceptable.
Service was great too - they provided recommendations for us on WeChat and was fast with their replies.
Breakfast had a wide array of options from Chinese to western.

Even before I arrived, the staff went out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. I received a message the day before my reservation to call the hotel. When I called, they asked if they could send me a message on Wechat as they didn’t speak English. The staff simply wanted to know my eta so that they could turn the a/c on in the room to cool it down before I arrived.
The hotel is more of a BnB set up than a hotel - similar to a house design. The building is 5 stories high with I guess around 4 rooms on each floor. This makes it perfect to escape the large tourist groups which frequent bigger hotels.
When the taxi pulled up outside on the day of my arrival, 2 staff members rushed out to welcome me. Check-in was quick and they told me that they had upgraded me to a bigger room. They also asked me what I wanted for breakfast the next day as they had some different ‘Western’ options (think Chinese idea of Western but still okay). I was able to have toast and fried eggs every day.
The room is really exquisite - I came alone but would definitely recommend for couples as the bathtub is heavenly.
The two balconies offer beautiful views of the karst mountains. The room is also tastefully done up in wicker and white. And the bedding is luxurious. My only recommendation for the room is to add some sachets of instant coffee.
The pool is perfect for a cool down and what a spectacular view from the loungers!
I swam every day and every day while sitting by the pool, the staff brought me some refreshing lemon water to drink. In addition, every day of my stay they brought me something: day 1 - fresh watermelon and some blueberry thing (candy?), day 2 - baby tomatoes and more blueberry things day 3 - apples and peanuts. On checkout, they prepared a local snack and water bottle for the trip home.
The staff at this hotel really go the extra mile and just about bend over backwards to serve you. It’s been a long time since I have seen such eager staff and it makes for a very pleasant change from bored receptionists on their phones.
I cannot rate the hotel highly enough for their excellent hospitality service.
The location is also perfect - away from the main ***** but an easy 15 minute walk to the river rafts and another 5-10min to the ‘town’ and a variety of eating options. That’s when you turn left when you get to the main road from the hotel (5min walk). Turn right at this road and you can comfortably walk (30 min?) to some other sites like the one with the hole in the mountain (overrated) and an exquisite cave - Dragon cave. If you like caves and the formations within I highly rate this cave. It is truly gorgeous. You can also rent bikes or a scooter 10m in front of the hotel.
The staff do not speak English but they communicate via WeChat and are more than happy to help with anything.

The covered trip to Xi Street is a nice touch as well, as it was a solid night time activity.

PPrairieTruthfully, I am having time finding words, and that's unusual for me. I must admit I was disappointed when Yangshuo Mountain Retreat cancelled my booking because of a wedding that had booked the place, but the photos of the garden sold me. I've been to Yangshuo perhaps five times over the last 10 years, and have stayed in every kind of place there-from a cheap hostel to the boutique rooms but my dream was to stay at YMR, where I always stop and have a whiskey by the river.
When we pulled into Liqui Town, I realized I had not explored this part of the valley and was disoriented. But then the staff greeted us, carried in our bags, gave us tea, peanuts, and oranges, and set to taking care of our every need. They were this way with us from start to finish-sending us off with a bag of fresh mandarin oranges and hugs-and a promise to send an invoice for our remaining expenses-which we still have not gotten!
Apart from the wonder of just those details, the food was exquisite, our farmhouse room was stylish and simple yet so thoroughly Chinese-in the most real and unassuming way. It was an honor and a pleasure to sip tea in the farmhouse and look at the many woodcut posters and Chinese propaganda songs on the walls while staring up from the tea table to the simply elegant clay tile roof resting on the original beams, feeling the mud bricks breathe out their history silently under a soft rain and the early crows of the neighborhood roosters. I
If one is quiet and still, I believe this little gem will give up her secrets, her history, and the story and true feeling of old-time village life amongst the stunning splatters of karst and water. We enjoyed watching the staff use the traditional well to clean up around the property, and the garden did not disappoint. Truly magical and filled with bonsai that some local master has been enjoying for many years. The food was excellent. We spoke with some Chinese tourists on the way out who were very disappointed with the local version of beer fish, ah but ours was exquisite, along with the drinks and italian food. Even though the west market was just downstairs and the room was still quiet.
The breakfast was just normal.
The hotel staff at the reception can speak English so it certainly help for English speaking visitors

AAmyLocation cannot be better for Elephant Trunk Hill as the hotel has a private staircase to walk right into the park. It is only 15 minute leisure walk along the river to Zhengyang road for a crazy selection of street foods. We got a free upgrade to the garden room right next to the rooftop garden where we spent some time with our takeaway local dessert, watching the lighting and rain one evening!
The room includes a free package with a photographer who was very polite and gave us lots of tips for nice pictures. There was a misunderstand of booking time so they gave us a free edited video too.
There was also free self service laundry if anyone needs their clothes washed.

I booked my stay at the Shixi Landscape Hotel in Yangshuo, Guilin, through Trip.com. The check-in process was very smooth and didn’t take long at all. One pleasant surprise was the option to upgrade our room for free, which we accepted. This upgraded room came with a lovely balcony. Although the staff couldn’t speak English, they were very friendly and helpful. Using a translation app made communication easy.
Room Details
We stayed in a standard double room with an upgrade to a balcony room. The room also featured a bathtub, which was a nice touch. Upon entering, the room was fairly clean, though there were some water stains on the floor and the carpet had a few dirty spots. The amenities were average, including a selection of soft drinks in the minibar and some snacks on the table. Despite these minor cleanliness issues, the bed was very comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep.
Facilities and Services
The hotel had a restaurant where we received a complimentary breakfast upgrade. Unfortunately, the breakfast did not meet our expectations. While the Chinese food selection seemed okay, the international options were quite disappointing. The sausages were undercooked, the bacon was not good, and the cereal options looked and tasted stale. The only decent international option was toast with butter. It’s a relief we didn’t pay extra for it.
Although I noticed the hotel had a spa, gym, and pool, I didn’t get a chance to use them. The pool looked nice but was small and shallow, not suitable for a serious swim. There was no room service available as far as I knew.
Location and Accessibility
The hotel’s location was fantastic, situated right next to the Li River and only a short 5-minute walk to the main shops and streets in the town. It was very easy to find and access, making it a convenient base for exploring Yangshuo.
Customer Service
The overall customer service was great. The staff were very friendly and polite, and we encountered no issues during our stay.
Overall Experience
The best part of our stay was the hotel’s prime location, which made it easy to visit tourist attractions. The hotel staff were also very helpful in arranging scooter rentals for a very reasonable price of ¥30 per day, which allowed us to explore the beautiful scenery around Yangshuo.
However, there is room for improvement. The breakfast selection, particularly the international options, needs significant enhancement. Additionally, a thorough deep cleaning of the carpets would greatly improve the room’s cleanliness.
In conclusion, while I would recommend the Shixi Landscape Hotel for its location and overall good service, it is on the pricier side for Yangshuo. Given the cost, I expected a bit more in terms of breakfast quality and room cleanliness. Nonetheless, it is a decent option for those looking to stay near the Li River and the town’s main attractions.

Whether it is the faintness of the sea of clouds surrounding the mountain in the morning or the evening glowing and tender, or the stars at night, it brings a sense of peace and tranquility: two ears do not hear the world, and the edge is in this village; In the morning, you can go up and down the stone road, while enjoying the beautiful scenery around you, you can also go to the mountain tea room to have a cup of good tea; in the afternoon, continue to climb, sit in the pavilion at the top, overlook the whole village, and then shout out the inner poetry and distance to the mountains; At night, make a wish to the stars (the heart fire to the stars, the wish is true). Here, you can completely empty, live a few days of pastoral life, lamenting that the paradise is real.

GGuest UserWe had a very good stay at the riverview hotel, specially Yawen and Molly from the reception were very helpful to help plan our trips. They made the reservations for us en true them we got a discount on our trip. We appreciate that a lot.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, shower good and hot, changing of towels daily.
Staying at the riverview hotel is a excellent choice located near the town and river.

GGuest UserThe hotel was good, however, I chose it because all the children amenities that they were advertised, and sadly most of them were non existent or very poorly coordinated. Another major issue is that I booked the hotel because of the indoor pool, which was closed during our whole stay, they offer complentary kids club playground service which was nice, but definitely not enough to.compensate not having a pool, my kid was totally disappointed, as I had mentioned this as a great feature of the hotel. The staff was friendly but if you are choosing the hotel because it's kids friendly, move along as most of the activities aren't really there....

GGuest UserReally enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The location was good it was just 10-15 mins away from west street by taxi so it was quiet but easily accessible. The view of the river from the room was amazing and didn't have anything blocking the view.. I didn't expect it to actually look like the pictures on the website but it really was a beautiful room. There was a few letdowns, even though there was daily maid service, the room was pretty dusty when we arrived and there was quite a few bits of wear and tear like peeling plaster on the walls that lowered the standard of the place. The staff were really helpful and went out their way to to help us plan a day trip etc. Overall I'd go back to this place, Its quiet, cheap and has everything you need for a few days.
