Amazing
NNct825The hotel is very clean and more spacious compared to typical small hotel rooms in Japan. I’m grateful that they granted my request for a room with a view of Tokyo Skytree. The location is very convenient—within walking distance of the train stations (Asakusa and Ginza Lines). It’s only a 5-minute walk to Sensō‑ji and about 10 minutes to Don Quijote, GU, Uniqlo, Muji, and Rox Shopping Mall. There are also several dining options nearby, including Ichiran Ramen, 7‑Eleven, McDonald’s, and Yakiniku Like restaurants, making it very convenient for meals and quick snacks. The hotel staff are friendly and accommodating. Overall, it was a great stay.

KkeyorkThis hotel is located behind Sensoji Temple, a straight walk from Kannon-dori next to Kaminarimon. It's about an 11-minute walk from Asakusa Station on the Ginza Line. However, if you're heading to Narita Airport, you'll need to transfer at Asakusa Station on the Asakusa Line. The hotel is very new, and you check in using a self-service tablet. Breakfast is offered, but you need to select it yourself at the front desk. I had an early flight the next morning, and the hotel didn't provide any reminders, so definitely don't forget to book it! The rooftop offers views of the Skytree and a panoramic view of Asakusa. The hotel is clean and tidy, and offers great value for money. I recommend staying here.

MM227909****The hotel's location is fantastic. You can reach the Shinjuku Station New South Exit in just a few minutes from the second floor. The rooms on the higher floors offer great views, perfect for seeing the city lights twinkling at night. Plus, there's an Alexa smart assistant in the room that you can connect to via Bluetooth.

TTravellingAllTheTimeLocation is great, next to Lawson and McDonald’s. Less than 10 mins walk to Shinjuku train and bus station. Also 10 mins walk to Takashimaya and Ichiran ramen. Food shopping, kombini and fast food all near you!

LluciferchengThe hotel is conveniently located near JR Shinjuku Station, right by the Metropolitan Government Building. The lobby is on the second floor, and the hotel itself is split into two buildings. You can enjoy a light show from your room at night. The room was quite spacious, though the bathroom facilities looked a bit dated. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to Kabukicho. This is an older, established 5-star hotel.

SSettapong N.📍 Location & Accessibility This hotel’s best feature is its incredible location — literally a few steps from Akihabara Station (JR, Metro Hibiya Line, and Tsukuba Express), making almost everywhere in Tokyo easy to reach. You’ll find restaurants, convenience stores, anime shops, and cafes right outside. Its placement in the heart of the Akihabara electronics and pop-culture district is perfect for tech lovers and casual explorers alike. 🛏 Rooms & Comfort Rooms are typical of central Tokyo — compact but functional. Standard amenities include free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, and a kettle. While some guests feel the rooms are small (especially with larger luggage), most find them clean and comfortable enough for short to medium stays. Bathrooms are small, as expected in Japanese city hotels, but generally well-maintained. ✨ Cleanliness & Service Overall, cleanliness scores high among guests, with many praising the housekeeping and friendly, helpful staff. Some reviews mention minor dust or cleanliness issues — like spots under furniture — but these reports are in the minority compared to the overwhelmingly positive feedback. 🍽 Breakfast & Facilities The hotel offers a buffet breakfast with Japanese and Western options (for a fee), and there’s also a Denny’s attached for convenient meals. Other facilities include vending machines, luggage storage, a business center, and 24-hour reception.

CCleav3rI've always been a loyal fan of Ascott, but the Ascott Tokyo really left me speechless. Upon check-in, we were informed that the entire building would have a power outage on our last day, meaning all guests had to vacate their rooms before noon. What's more, luggage storage wasn't allowed, so we had to drag our five suitcases ourselves to the JR Tokyo Station, about a 10-minute walk away, and pay 5000 yen to store them. The hotel offered no compensation or even assistance with transporting the luggage to the station. Even more outrageous, the power went out twice in the middle of the night that day, causing the washing machine to stop mid-cycle and forcing us to rewash a whole load of clothes. Additionally, the power outage was announced to start at noon, but breakfast wasn't served at all that morning. At check-in, the front desk staff had us register for a new ASR membership and gave us breakfast vouchers, promising they could be used any day, yet when we tried to use them, breakfast wasn't available? What a joke. Please note, we were only informed of this entire power outage incident upon check-in. Why wasn't this communicated in advance? A power outage affecting the entire building is a major event, and the hotel must have known about it well in advance. If we had been notified earlier, we would have had time to choose another hotel. Instead, the hotel's complete inaction left us with no other options upon arrival. This is completely unacceptable in Japan, a country known for its excellent customer service!

GGuest UserI traveled alone and my room is for 1-2 ppl. I enjoyed my stay. Staff are very cheerful, sincerely and helpful. The location is excellent which the metro exit is next to the hotel but the exit is only stairs. Those travelers who have big luggage might be very concerned. There are many restaurants nearby also convenience store. The room is very neat very tidy but a bit crowded if 2ppl. Not much space for your luggage. The amenities are great! I loved the onsen so much!! Because i came for Garmin Run Aisa and it helped me recover alot! I probably recommend my fds to come and I will come next time for my trip to Tokyo.

AAnonymous UserEvery time I visit Tokyo, I stay at this hotel, and the service is consistently great. My only recurring comment, which I've made before, is about the breakfast. It hasn't changed in years, not even the layout. I really hope the hotel can improve this and start offering eggs, whether boiled or fried.

GGuest UserShinjuku Granbell Hotel was my accommodation choice during this Tokyo Shinjuku trip. Part of the design-oriented Granbell chain, the hotel opened in 2013 and expanded with additional rooms in 2016. It has a modern and stylish vibe overall, making it a good fit for travelers who enjoy a bit of personality and contemporary feel. The rooms are decent—not particularly spacious (typical for central Tokyo hotels), but the design is pleasant and they come with Simmons mattresses, so the bed is comfortable to sleep in. What stands out is that the hotel has a very large number of rooms (reportedly over 400 in total), making it a mid-to-large-scale property. Check-in can occasionally feel a bit busy in the lobby due to the volume of guests, but operations run smoothly. Room types are quite varied, from standard doubles to loft-style rooms, offering good flexibility when booking. Location is one of the more debated aspects of this hotel. It is very close to the heart of Shinjuku—right inside Kabukicho—so you’re surrounded by endless restaurants, izakayas, convenience stores, drugstores, and nightlife. Walking distance covers popular spots like Korean Town in Okubo or Golden Gai, which makes evening strolls and late-night eating extremely convenient. However, if you rely on the subway, the nearest station (Higashi-Shinjuku) is about a 4-minute walk (official figure), but to reach the major hubs like JR Shinjuku Station or Shinjuku-sanchome Station, it usually takes around 15 minutes on foot (depending on your exact route, and sometimes you have to navigate through the lively Kabukicho crowds). For someone who enjoys walking, it’s manageable, but dragging large luggage or walking in the rain might feel a bit inconvenient. In short, the location is highly central and vibrant, but it’s not quite “step out the door and you’re at the station” level. Room cleanliness is acceptable—daily housekeeping is thorough, with bathrooms, bedding, and floors kept in good condition, and no noticeable odors or mess. Everything feels clean and comfortable enough for a pleasant stay, but there is nothing particularly outstanding about it. The decor follows a simple modern style, facilities are standard (free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, fridge, etc.), and while functional, it doesn’t wow you. Bathrooms are on the small side (normal for Tokyo), but hot water is reliable and usage is fine. They also offer free loan of air purifiers or humidifiers, which is a nice small touch. Other minor highlights include the rooftop terrace (great for night views or a drink on clear evenings), a café, and a bar with decent atmosphere. Breakfast is an additional charge, but with so many dining options nearby, skipping the hotel breakfast is never an issue. In summary, Shinjuku Granbell Hotel isn’t a top-tier luxury property, but if you’re looking for a lively Shinjuku location, moderate design appeal, clean and practical rooms, and surroundings full of energy and food options at a mid-range budget, it’s a solid and pragmatic choice. The large number of rooms means availability tends to be reliable. While the walk to major stations takes about 15 minutes, for anyone wanting to fully immerse in Shinjuku’s nightlife and buzz, that actually becomes an advantage. Overall value for money is above average. Recommended for first-time Shinjuku visitors who want a fun, convenient, and comfortable base without breaking the bank!
