Everything has a price!
The characteristic of the UK is that everything costs money, and there is nothing wrong with it except that it is expensive! Commercialization is everywhere. I forgot to bring an adapter, so I asked the hotel front desk to borrow one. The reply I got still rings in my ears: we don’t have adapters to rent, but we have adapters to sell!
I mostly really liked this hotel - the room was nice, shower was good, staff were friendly and the breakfast was great! There was one big problem though - the hotel is right next to a dual carriageway and the noise from the road below in my room was horrendous! I probably will give them another try and request a room away from the road next time, but if I get another room in the same location my next trip will probably be my last, even though i liked everything else about the hotel.
Good property and great location to see the city centre of Reading. However it’s in the middle of the bus only roads so highly confusing how to get to car park etc. other properties were noisy in the area overnight.

A great room for a solo traveller, a huge king size bed and all facilities. They do tend to put singles in the Wellington lodge which is a 10 minute walk to the pool facilities.
The hotel is close to Reading Railway Station. The location is convenient and within walking distance. The room is small and the place is clean. It is suitable for a stop for a day or two. There are large supermarkets and liquor stores nearby, which are enough for all your needs. In particular, behind the hotel is the Thames River. The scenery is superb. Swans roam, cruise ships shuttle, geese and teal fly together. It is an unparalleled secret in the world. It would be a pity not to visit if you stay here😁
Enjoyed our stay. Staff very friendly. Room clean and good size. Would have liked a more varied breakfast with cereal/toast Would visit again if ever in Reading.

IIrene YipWonderful room and hotel facilities, lots of parking spaces. Just next to Costco and stadium. Have stayed here twice and will come back again.
AAnonymous UserPerfect for me as it’s right across from the office but probably not so great if you wanted to be in the city centre although it’s only an £8 taxi ride or £2 bus ride. Opposite a Beefeater which was handy but I would prefer an on-site bar and restaurant. Felt a bit uncomfortable on check-in to be asked if I was a smoker (I’m not) and if anyone would be joining me later 😳. Didn’t like the bed being made up with sheets, blanket and counter pane as it’s quite uncomfortable particularly on one of the hottest days of the year although the mobile air conditioning unit helped (first time I’ve had sheets and blankets for over 30 years since the day I got married despite extensive business (weekly) and leisure travel (4-6 times a year)). Hotel was very clean and the bathroom was well equipped. A bottle of water would have been a welcome addition to the room particularly in such hot weather. Not sure who to recommend the hotel to as it’s neither a corporate hotel with all the amenities or a home from home. Breakfast was on offer for an additional £15 and I decided to wait until I checked in to see. As I wanted to be in the office for 8am and there was no menu available, times of service or visibility of a dining room, other facilities or even other guests, I decided it may be too intimate and opted for a cold sandwich I had stored in the office fridge ‘just in case’. Was similarly priced to the executive room I had in the Novotel last week which had a full buffet breakfast included.
YYUKII work at Hotel in Japan, but there were so many things that I have to learn from the staff here in Holiday Inn !!
Staff were superb!! Always smiling, she tries her bestest way to meet the needs of her customers, and her customer service is very attractive.
Also, the breakfast was great, not only the menus, I was impressed by the efficient and smart movements of the staff members.
I definitely recommend this Hotel as staying here is absolutely a part of our good memories.
GGuest UserThe location is in the center of Reading, very close to the train station, convenient for travel. The room is in another building and there are staff to help with luggage. The room is nice with a balcony. The hotel restaurant food is also OK. I went late on the day of check-in and only some dishes were available. The wine was good. The hotel made a mistake in the bill when checking out and charged me an extra fee. I negotiated with the platform and got it refunded. Overall I feel satisfied.
Bbh90sI had a great stay at the Ibis hotel. The hotel staff were professional and friendly and the bed was very comfortable. My only inconvenience was the card key used to access the lift and rooms: it uses a magnetic stripe, which is easily disrupted by any RFID devices. I had to have it recharged three times as it did not work; I think this is quite an old-fashioned system and it needs to be noted that many travellers will have RFID devices which will affect the card.
With that said, my overall experience was positive and I would recommend staying at this hotel.
HHarryLau1023Very convenient, very close to the commercial street, close to Reading Railway Station, you can walk through the station square, walk to the Thames River, and feel quiet and leisure in the beautiful scenery of the breeze and sunshine. The hotel is soundproofed, the bedding is clean, comfortable and tidy, and the breakfast is great.
JJessJuiceThis room was amazing for the price. I asked a quiet area of the hotel and was put on the 12th floor at the end of a corridor and couldn’t hear a thing. Staff were efficient and quick to respond. Room was super spacious - modern bathroom with bath (from which you can view the tv!) and separate shower. Comfortable sofa. Lots of space. Handy mirror angles. Only downside was I don’t think the room had been cleaned in a couple of weeks / hasn’t had guests because it was VERY dusty. And the milk curdled in my tea and left it ‘chunky’ which was fairly rank. Aside from that would recommend and would go back.
DDarrenVery nice clean hotel would definitely stay there again. It was also nice getting a free upgrade on the room. Witch had kettle, microwave, and fridge with a small freezer compartment. The room was like your own flat. Only down side to it was the shower was pretty crap. But you can put up with it for few nights.
VViggiReally loved everything about this hotel - from my stay to the food and it’s location close to the city centre. Will definitely choose to stay here every time I visit Reading! Staff is really friendly and helpful as well - they knock on the door every morning the room!
AArunReally nice stay for reasonable rate and really helpful staff. Thank you so much. It was a good experience. Will recommend my family and friends if they need a stay in Reading.
