Casa Lima B&B

San Jose|1.12km from Vida Abundante del Oeste
We have stayed at Casa Lima for years. The location is great since it is walking distance to our family's house. But this stay was not pleasant. We stayed in 2 room family suite, which we have stayed in this room type before (but received a different room). There were cobwebs everywhere throughout the 2 rooms. I am talking large, draping cobwebs in all the corners, it was dirty. These could have easily been removed with a broom. The room did not feel clean and our youngest was not comfortable. We had arrived late at night and had been communicating this to the hotel all along. It didn't seem like they were ready for us, the owner/manager was grumpy and seemed irritated when we asked for some water. The main 1st room had a double bed and a fold out couch. The bed was comfortable, the couch was not. There was a wardrobe to place your things. The fridge did not work. The adjacent room, had three twin beds, no windows. There was nowhere to put anything, no closet, no wardrobe, not even space for a suitcase. The adjoining door did not close unless you deadbolted it, not too comfy for a family with young kids. The bathoom door in the twin room didn't close at all, it would slide open, and most definitely didn't lock. The TV in that room didn't work either. We did report that the fridge didn't work, but they didn't do anything about it. The courtyard, as always, is amazing. It is like a jungle in the middle of the city with a ton of plants, trees, flowers and colorful rocks. There is a coi pond with a couple turtles and you can feed them if you ask for some food. There is also a large cage with a bunch of birds, which adds to the ambiance. The breakfast is simple, but good. The servers are awesome. I feel like the last 3 stays at this hotel have gone considerably downhill. i also feel like the price was a lot higher than we paid in the past. We will be looking for another go to hotel in the future.

This is a very nice local hotel. As so many have said, the customer service is top level. They will do all possible to please their guests. My room was small, but fine. Beds are very comfortable, room was clean, and almost everything worked well. Hotel is small, but lovely. I don’t feel there is a need to detail much, as this place is very nice overall. Two problems… In my room, the hot water was virtually nonexistent at the faucet. Which is so strange as it was perfectly fine in the shower. But it meant I was unable to shave. But that’s okay because I was only there 2 nights. The real problem was the internet. And OMG, was it horrible. Almost nonexistent. I actually went out into the public area to try to work, but still couldn’t accomplish anything. I have a business and need good internet. Both my phone and my computer had such a bad signal and were dropping constantly. I had been at the Best Western and then the Marriott before this hotel, and all was perfect. Now I am at the Hilton, and again, perfect. So I don’t know if it was a temporary issue or not, but it made my stay infuriating. I will go back to my previous policy of only staying at hotel chains, because this was not the first time I had internet issues at a local hotel. It has happened probably 40-50% of the time. So no more for me. But most people will love this hotel. And everyone will love the service!

Been staying at this hotel, Always very nice. Edgar and Juan Carlos have been very helpful. My only complaint is that I wish I could reserve a specific room - the computer system doesn’t allow it. Otherwise I always have a great experience while I am there- breakfast buffet is excellent, please keep it.

Stayed here on a tour of Costa Rica, for a total of three nights on arrival and between our extension. Typical city hotel, very comfy and large rooms with big bathrooms, plenty of toiletries etc. Lovely staff, although not very attentive in the main restaurant! We ate lunch, dinner and breakfast in the main restaurant - all good. Also a great meal in the Japanese restaurant. It was quite cool, they keep the aircon on quite high and the weather was windy and cloudy so turned it off in our room! Nothing much nearby, very convenient for airport but only a supermarket and McDonalds within walking distance. The park was ok for a quick walk, only a few yards away.

The best hotel I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay at. Barcelo San Jose this Gorgeous building, and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in. High quality rooms and high quality service. Excellent property and very convenient to USC activities. Front desk staff is extremely efficient, pleasant and helpful. Property is clean and has a fantastic old time charm.

We've been in and out of San Jose plenty, and this was our first time staying in the Residence Inn. What a pleasure! After a 7 hour car ride from Guanacaste, parking was easy peasy, check in was quick and our room was perfect. We chose this location because my youngest son was having a procedure at Advanced Dental and we could walk everywhere. Plenty of food options, some shopping, and lots of outdoor spaces. My mechanic met me at the hotel and took my car for a tune up while we were here because we didn't need it at all. The hotel is well appointed, with a fabulous staff is kind and friendly, always helpful. I was so excited that the computer at breakfast made me a cappuccino, you'd have thought I didn't live through the 90s. Breakfast was delicious - lots of super fresh options from oatmeal to omelettes, croissants to gallo pinto. We are definitely making this our home base for future San Jose trips. Two thumbs up.
