The staff and the Clean Rooms were spectacular. The food in the restaurant can not be passed over. Live entertainment was great. I can’t wait to go back. I m so happy when I called . Theresa was able to assist and answer all the questions about the island and at the inn. She is awesome!

Went with my spouse for our anniversary. The staff is very kind, and personable, serve hand and foot. Not use to being spoiled. The room is elegant, the food amazing, the vibe, magical, the front line hostess, Theresa is so accommodating, Theresa is kind and personable and her humor is our type of funny. If you're from Long Island, New York you get what I am saying. Theresa gave us great tips for the island, and kept us up to date on what's happening for the time we were visiting. Theresa and the staff made us feel like family. It was only for two nights, it made a lasting impression. Kudos to my new extended family. 🌹❤️

The Rams Head Inn has many ingredients for a great experience , beautifully sited in a pretty cove on shelter island, sweeping lawns with Adirondack chairs - the perfect location for a sunset cocktail. But sadly, they just don’t seem to have the ingredients for a well managed restaurant nor delicious food offerings. Such a shame! Two attempts to serve a filet steak dinner, and staff reaction was only to say they and the kitchen were busy. This could be a wonderful dinner setting, think they need a little improvement on customer service, restaurant management and kitchen organisation. Special shout out to Graham who manages the mooring field - very friendly, welcoming and could not have done more to make our stay any better.

There was a simple booking mistake made, it was quickly corrected. Theresa understood the mistake, instead of easily correcting the error, she was rude and unpleasant everystep of our 3 night stay. Ive never paid nearly $600/night and been treated so poorly. I felt hostility every moment I was there. I was charged an extra night for the booking error but her hostility made my stay unpleasant. I just finished a grueling chemo/radiation regimen, a little hospitality would have been appreciated. I do not recommend this place- Theresa has no concept of what hospitality is. Dr. Laura Glennon

Let me begin by saying we booked a room here, but didn't stay, because on our way there the front desk called to say, OOPS, sorry we don't have a room for you. This was after we had spent a stressful weekend at a funeral, changed our ferry reservations and other details, with plans to stay at this supposedly lovely hotel. Needless to say we were not happy. We asked to have a manager call us back as we were now 30 minutes away with no where to stay. We had booked the hotel 24 hours before with no problem, yet they waited til we were practically at their door to tell us, GO HOME?? The manager, Theresa did call us back, altho clearly unhappy, as she explained "it was her day off"!! She was sorry but there was nothing she could do, except maybe find us a comparable room at some other hotel , near by. She did find us a room, certainly not comparable, as it was a "honeymoon cottage" that resembled a garage at a B and B. Perhaps worth $150 a night, not the $900 that we were quite happy to pay at the Rams head inn. The bottom line is they were very difficult to deal with, and we are still waiting for a credit on our card. We have called both Teresa, the manager, and the front desk several times and no one returns our calls. WE do not want anything for free, we just want a refund for a room we never used.

We Love Ram's Head Inn and are never disappointed. From the moment you arrive at The Ram's Head you feel welcome and appreciated by the entire staff! We visited on Saturday by boat and Graham made our dockage experience a breeze. This is a hidden gem that you will not want to miss!!!!

The food is the worst I have had on the East End. Birthday dinner- looked online at the menu. It looked ok but turns out only meager bar fare on a weekday. Have eaten there many times under prior management. The menu was sandwiches and meager bar fare only but they did not post that at all. Even the $39 burger was meager and boring. Caesar salad awful, cacio e pepi awful. Salmon inedible. Even the plants in pots are not maintained. Web site incorrect. Staff standing around and unfriendly except for our lovely waiter. A lovely place not worth a visit now. Maybe 5 minutes for the view.

The Ram's Head Inn is a perfect example of an Inn with everything at it's fingertips, with no idea how to treat its customers. While the grounds and Inn itself are beautiful, I was quite disappointed at the level of service for the rate of over $550 per night. Not only was our room incredibly cramped and small (lacking basic equipment such as hair dryers, iron, etc.), and the service at the restaurant for dinner was painfully slow and inattentive, but the one thing an Inn of this caliber which claims it has free breakfast should provide - a hot, homemade breakfast, was not provided. The cheap, cold bites and Keurig coffee was not a welcoming sight. They clearly wanted us to wait until 11am to buy breakfast from their sub-par, overpriced restaurant. Additionally, the woman behind the counter had an attitude. The whole time I was there, I felt as though I was burdening them by my presence. Save yourself the anguish and don't stay here!

Perfect. Held a family gathering here and the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. Everyone at the hotel went above and beyond to insure that our stay was a pleasant one. The decor of both the common rooms in the hotel, and guest rooms - are a combination of a recent refurbishment and antiques - all of which make for a cozy atmosphere. As this is an old inn, some might describe the layout and rooms as quirky. There are a variety of rooms to choose from including some that do not have a shower/bath in them (but a shared one down the hall), and some that are actually a suite with two bedrooms and a shared bathroom (wonderful for families). It was also fun discovering that the 1947 Shelter Island Conference was held there which included all the leading physicists in quantum physics including Oppenheimer. A breakfast of coffee/tea, cereal, fruit, yogurt, and muffins is available. There is no lunch service. The restaurant serves dinner and focuses on farm to table meals, and the food was delicious.
