I chose Park Plaza as it was convenient to both the train station and airport. The price was also excellent value for money. My train from Lhasa arrived at 6.30am and I caught a taxi the short distance to Park Plaza without issue. I checked in around 7am and was shown my room. It was beautiful, very spacious with a large window, and it also had a freestanding bath. Unfortunately I could smell cigarette smoke, which is not uncommon in Chinese hotels. I asked for a different room and was immediately shown one . This room was identical but the bed covers were a children's design and there were some toys and teepee in one corner . I simply folded the bright yellow covers down and had a lovely tasteful decor again. The bed was extremely comfy and the room was very quiet. The buffet was beyond excellent and the head chef and his small team were very friendly and attentive. Clearly they were very proud of their fabulous buffet and presentation....as they should be. It was my best in China.. I found a lovely walking trail behind the hotel beside the river, 5 mins away. The area in general was nice to wander around, very different from my stay in the centre of city when on my way to Tibet. I will most definitely choose Park Plaza when I return to Xining.

I came to the city on a business trip and stayed at this hotel. The location of the hotel is very good. The hotel room hygiene and facilities are very new for a year. The upgraded room type is two meters and two beds are very comfortable to sleep. The room also has a large sofa for people to lie down and it is very comfortable. There are gas stations around the hotel, Wuyue Plaza, and there are many delicious foods nearby. There is a Panther Street near the hotel. It is famous for having a variety of performances every day to show the local culture. The hotel is particularly good. I will come back next time on business trip. I recommend this hotel.
