Mallyan Spout Hotel

First time staying at this hotel but will definitely be back. We were in a room on the top floor which may not be suitable for someone with mobility problems because of the stairs but it was a really big room and big bathroom with a bath and separate shower. Curtains and furnishings were either freshly laundered or new but there was a lovely fresh feeling to the room. The breakfast was amazing with so much choice. We dined in the restaurant one night and it has an ala carte menu but you can also have the bar menu so it wasn't too formal. A good base for walking and we walked down to the Mallyan Spout waterfall one day. Overall it was brilliant.

Booked as part of our trip to North Yorkshire Moors Railway and have to say our room was huge Super king bed huge wardrobe and two chairs and still space. the room was spotless and we got homemade shortbread both days. Staff could not have been more helpful and nothing was to much trouble. Have to say food from the restaurant was excellent as was the breakfast with cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit and pastries for you to help yourselves to and a selection of hot breakfast to choose as well. so quiet and peaceful would highly recommend.

Very nice hotel, staff helpful, beds comfortable, very good food, wonderful location. Thanks to Gav and all the team. Lovely gardens, easy access to the national park or Whitby and the coast. I work as a hiking guide bringing guests from around the world to enjoy Britain and I would have no hesitation recommending this place to antone wanting a place to stay in the North York Moors national Park.

Lovely, peaceful stay. Best night's sleep in ages! Staff welcoming and attentive. Restaurant (advisable to book a table) you can order from the restaurant or bar menu. Room clean and comfortable, views were fantastic! Would love to return in drier weather to fully make use of walking routes and hotel gardens. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We have been going to the Mallyan for many years on a regular basis as we are local and it was our go to hotel for food. Friends of ours had been under the new ownership and said how disappointed they were so we thought we would give it a try. When we walked in we noticed the log burner was not in use which was unusual as it was only 8 degrees outside and a dull dank day. The lounge and bar area were cold as the central heating radiators were also off. We sat with our coats on to eat our meal which I have to say was up to its usual excellent standard. Please please give us a warm hotel as it used to be under the last ownership.

Our second time here and felt as much a treat as the first! The hotel is warm and welcoming and set in the beautiful moorland village of Goathland. The village shops and historic steam railway station are a relaxing 15mins stroll away, the roads mostly shared with sheep! The room we had was comfortable and spacious, with a lovely view. The bar was a lovely place to enjoy a few drinks and the barman (whose name I forget!) was very friendly and made us feel at home. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant of The Mallyan; both our meals were delicious! My scallops to start and duck breast for main were fantastic. Breakfast the next morning was also excellent. Thanks to all staff; it won’t be our last visit, worth the long drive from Essex!

Lovely medium sized old country house in glorious walking country. Friendly reception and excellent service in bar and restaurant. Good food and comfortable room with walk-in shower which is a must at my age. Will be going back.

Lovely comfortable hotel clean as a whistle and nice food , happy talkative accommodating staff. Just rather warm for us but easy to open double glazing in bedroom and changed into a blouse for evening meal . We did a little walk behind the hotel to the waterfall. It was stunning scenery all round.

We had our room at an alternative B&B cancelled by the owner due to being double booked. We were trying to resolve the situation when a member of staff offered us a room, which had just become available. The room, a superior, was amazing! The views from the balcony were stunning to wake up to! We ate in the restaurant and had breakfast the following morning. All the food was of the highest standard. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I can not thank them enough for stepping in when we needed help and making our night away so wonderful.
