The location is incredibly convenient; it's just a 2-minute walk from the subway station to the hotel. What really stands out is the value for money – paying a little over 200 a night during the off-season is unbeatable. I honestly thought a hotel at this price point would have tiny rooms, but there's even a hallway, which is perfect for luggage. Super duper budget friendly.

National Day disaster! This Japanese-style hotel, priced three times higher than usual, offered a shower experience that was utterly dreadful. I booked this Japanese-style hotel for my National Day trip, and the price was triple the usual rate. I expected a matching experience, but the awful shower completely ruined my good mood! The most outrageous issues were the shower's safety and design. The edge of the bathtub was incredibly slippery, with absolutely no anti-slip reinforcement. Three toiletries were placed directly on the edge, and during my shower, the shampoo bottle fell twice, landing heavily on my toes. The pain instantly put me off showering. There wasn't even basic safety protection. Even more frustrating was adjusting the shower temperature. The cold water came out incredibly slowly. Finding the right temperature required repeated attempts – it was either scalding hot at first, or I'd have to wait ages for the cold water to come through. This severely impacted my shower efficiency and was completely unacceptable for a hotel at this price point. I do not recommend staying here.

The Holiday Inn Osaka Namba was an excellent choice for my trip! I was so impressed with the location. It's absolutely perfect for exploring Osaka, as it is just steps away from the heart of Dotonbori and surrounded by major shopping areas. Being able to step out and immediately be in the middle of the action—from famous food stalls to department stores—made the entire trip so convenient. Furthermore, the hotel itself was wonderfully clean and well-maintained. The staff were friendly, and the room provided a comfortable and quiet retreat after busy days of sightseeing.

Location is convenient but requires 5 to 10 mins walk to nearest train station. It's in a business neighbourhood so not many late night food options available around but its a nice quiet place to go back to after a day out at bustling umeda or namba. Hotel room was really spacious, nicely done up and comfortable; I wish I had one more night here. Service staff at the lobby were all friendly and they very graciously gave me an early check-in when there was a room available. Highly recommended!

The hotel's location is decent. It's conveniently located right outside Exit 2 of Minamimorimachi Station, with a large supermarket across the street and a very long shopping street nearby, offering plenty to explore. However, it gets quite noisy at night due to fire trucks, ambulances, and motorcycles passing by on the street. The room, I must say, was the worst I've stayed in in Japan. The bathroom floor was noticeably slanted, which was a first for me and made me feel like I couldn't even stand straight. Overall, it's comparable to a budget hotel in China.

This hotel is the 1st one that I choose when I started my japan trip in 2018. Glad to be back here again as this is technically my 3rd time staying. I actually was hopping I got the street view but still it was good.Personally I also quite like the interior design of the hotel. The location of the hotel is good as it is near to the food street of Dotonbori. I actually like the smoothing healing music that was provided on the TV as I will have a short nap while listening to it before moving off. Overall I have a very good experience with my stay. Staffs were friendly and helpful and greeted upon when meeted. I will choose this hotel again next year when I visit japan again.

The hotel's surroundings are excellent, with convenient transportation; there are 3 subway stations within 1 km. However, I did notice some discrimination against Chinese guests, especially from the breakfast restaurant staff. Their service attitude clearly differed between Chinese guests and Caucasians. While it might not bother everyone, it was noticeable. Overall, this hotel is still worth staying at. The room cleaning was also very good and timely.

The view from the room was excellent. Unfortunately, our room didn't face Osaka Castle Park, so we missed out on seeing the Tenshukaku (castle tower). The furnishings and facilities felt quite new, and we found no issues with cleanliness. As for the front desk service, it was a bit hard to judge; they weren't overly enthusiastic, but certainly efficient enough. We managed to check in with a combination of my rather broken English and a translation app. They also kindly provided children's amenities and complimentary scones. Overall, it was a good stay, and I'd be happy to book here again on my next trip.

Locals don’t usually come here to sleep — they come to wash, relax, and go through the full spa ritual. There are three types of steam rooms, a circular shower, and three baths: two hot ones at around 41°C, and one cold shock bath at around 11°C. You dip in and instantly feel alive. One unique feature — every hour they run a group steam ritual, like a collective massage & heat therapy session. Very Japanese, and surprisingly affordable. Definitely worth trying. There’s also an inexpensive breakfast option, plus vending machines with food and drinks right inside — very convenient. Overall, it’s a men-only vibe: arrive, clean up, relax, reset, and go about your day. The capsule is just a bonus on top of the sauna experience. They give you clothing — not a robe, but loose Japanese pants and an oversized T-shirt. You get your own locker, bedding and clothes are changed daily, and the bathrooms have literally everything: toothbrush, toothpaste, gels, shampoo… even nail clippers. You don’t need to bring anything. Location is fantastic — right next to Dotonbori. Step outside and you’re instantly in the heart of Osaka’s nightlife and energy. Downsides? A strict checkout — you must leave at 10:00 AM, and check-in starts only after 3:00 PM. If you want to stay during that gap, it’s around 300 yen per hour, or ~900 yen for the day. Still — great experience. I always wanted to try a real Japanese capsule stay. Inside the capsule there’s a TV, radio, adjustable lights, and AC — though it blasts pretty strongly, so I turned it off.

Traveling with kids, we booked a family room, which was essentially two standard rooms connected by a door. This made it super convenient for the kids to run between rooms and play, while the adults still had their own private space without disturbing each other. The rooms weren't overly spacious but were well-arranged and kept spotlessly clean. It was easy to get around from the hotel, and we had a very comfortable stay. A small point to note is that there's a step up to the bathroom, so kids need to be careful not to trip. Overall, the value for money was excellent.

TTravellingmamaThe hotel is situated right in front of USJ and lots of restaurants to choose from. There is a big Lawson to top up your snacks and drinks too. Room is spacious and can easily fit a small family. The beds are clean. Easy check in and check out. They have full bathroom amenities, kettle and flask to collect water. The thing to improve on is the wifi. We can hardly connect to it and the TV programs don’t load.

DDingmaomisThe room design was modern and minimalist, making excellent use of the space, and it was spotless. My only minor complaint was that the air conditioning unit was a bit noisy, which unfortunately led to a restless first night. I particularly enjoyed the outdoor lounge on the ground floor. The Western-style set breakfast was also quite delicious. Overall, I was very satisfied with this hotel.

YYuexin IrisBefore my trip, I was torn between the InterContinental, W Hotel, Conrad, Waldorf Astoria, and The Park Hyatt, but I ended up choosing the InterContinental, and it truly exceeded my expectations. The hotel upgraded my room, and both the view and the size were fantastic. The hotel's location is impeccable, right above Grand Front Osaka. Stepping out, you're immediately surrounded by major shopping malls like Hankyu, Daimaru, Yodobashi Camera, Lucua, and Lucua 1100, all connected by walkways. From gourmet food to shopping and trendy brands, it was incredibly convenient. Having such a spacious room in Japan is a rarity. Our upgraded room must have been nearly 100 square meters – incredibly roomy and practical, complete with an oven, induction cooktop, and a double-door refrigerator. The bathroom featured a bathtub and Byredo amenities; a soak with the hotel-provided bath salts instantly melted away the day's fatigue. The breakfast buffet offered a wide array of choices, including Japanese cold dishes, Oden, and Western desserts, all with meticulous attention to detail. From the concierge to the front desk, every staff member demonstrated professionalism. At check-out, they even proactively helped load our luggage into the car and confirmed the address with the driver in Japanese. Plus, there were many staff members who spoke Chinese. The only minor drawback was a noticeable smell of disinfectant when returning to the room each day, but it didn't detract from the overall experience at all. Whether it's for shopping, comfort, or service details, this hotel will definitely be my choice again on my next visit to Osaka!

GGuest UserThis hotel is a great choice for short stays, especially if you’re looking for convenience and privacy. The location is excellent—just under a 5-minute walk from Tengachaya Station, making it easy to access public transportation. There is also direct train from Kansai Airport to Tengachaya station, without transfer - bonus point if you arrived from KIX. There’s also a 7-Eleven nearby that offers Yamato luggage delivery service, which is very handy if you're traveling with heavy bags. The hotel operates as a fully self-service property, with no staff at the front desk. Check-in is straightforward—they’ll email you a passcode to access your mailbox, where you’ll find your room key. Rooms are compact, as is typical in Osaka, but very clean and feel quite new. The bed has storage space underneath, which is perfect for stowing large suitcases. Amenities are basic (toothbrush, comb, shaver), and you can pick them up at the front desk area, which also has a microwave available if you want to heat up food. One thing to note: there’s no coin laundry on-site, so if you’re staying for an extended period, plan accordingly. The room brochure mentions a luggage delivery service, but I didn’t receive a reply when I tried to contact them using provided number.  Overall, it’s a solid option for short stays—comfortable, private, and very conveniently located near transit and services.

MM41230****I booked this hotel quite last minute before my trip, and I was pleasantly surprised by how great it was. After reading some reviews, I opted for a twin room for more space, and even though it's near a main road, it was very quiet at night. The room was clean and tidy, and housekeeping came daily. The hotel offers a variety of self-service toiletries you can pick up, and a special touch I appreciated was the complimentary overnight face masks. Downstairs, there's a large AEON food supermarket, and the Shiyobashi Subway Station Exit 2 is just a short walk away. Getting to Shinsaibashi only takes a few minutes. It's incredibly convenient for getting anywhere – truly a hotel that has it all!

AAnonymous UserThis hotel is super easy to find, right by Exit 1 of Dobutsuen-mae Station, and it's literally next door to the Shinsekai area with Tsutenkaku Tower. It's incredibly convenient for both transport and sightseeing. They have their own hot spring, which is amazing for relaxing after a day of exploring. The room size is pretty decent too, definitely more spacious than your typical Japanese express hotel. Plus, the breakfast spread offers a good variety. I'd definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Osaka!

SSummerI know toilet paper in Japan is generally thin, but out of all the hotels I've stayed at, this is the only one where the paper crumbles instantly and leaves large pieces, making it very difficult to use. The room had an odd shape, but it was spacious, and the view was great (though there was a large handprint on the window that I only noticed when I turned on the lights at night, which startled me). The location is a plus, with direct access to the station, so you don't have to cross any streets above ground. However, the downside of sharing with an office building is that only some elevators go to the hotel rooms, and you have to switch elevators again for breakfast, which is a bit inconvenient. The staff were all friendly and enthusiastic, thank you.

GGrace 恩雅After staying in a cheaper APA hotel in Tokyo, my partner and I were looking forward to a higher-end stay at the Mercure in Osaka. It was... okay. I'll start with the positives: the proximity to Dotonbori is the biggest plus. It's about a 3-minute walk to the main canal *****. The hotel is separated from the peak tourism chaos by a few streets, so it isn't too overwhelmingly busy around the hotel itself. Convenient FamilyMart and 7-Eleven options are nearby, as you'd expect. The room was clean. The Italian restaurant on the 2nd floor was also quite lovely and well-priced. Now the negatives. First, the lighting was so dim in the hallways and the room itself that it was less ”pleasant mood lighting” and more ”I can't see anything/do my makeup.” I actually thought some of the lightbulbs were blown, but my partner pointed out they were just absurdly dim. Secondly, the door to the bathroom/shower was broken and wouldn't stay shut, so we had to use a few heavy items on the floor to keep it closed. Some of the USB outlets were also non-functioning. Thirdly - and this may be our fault - the washer-dryer combo machine in our room (which was a big reason for us booking this hotel) was finicky to use and only had Japanese labels/instructions. The room guide on the smart TV did have some instructions, but we struggled to operate the machine regardless. Then, after we worked it out, the drying cycle shrunk and heavily wrinkled our clothes. This wouldn't be the end of the world, but the room had no iron or ironing board. You have to go to reception to hire an iron separately or use the ”iron room,” which we never saw the inside of because it was locked every time we tried the door. None of these drawbacks were trip-ruining or anything, and in a cheaper 3-star hotel, we wouldn't be clutching our pearls about it. But because this is a pricier 4-star, internationally-known hotel brand, we expected more. Overall, the stay was not unpleasant, but it was nothing to write home about either.
