The location is at the centre of Christchurch, just opposite Botanic Garden. Can see students walking to school and people doing their morning walk and run at the balcony. We arrived at 7am in the morning, they offered an early check in with extra 20NZD which is very reasonable, especially after 20 hours of flight. If you're coming to Christchurch, this can be a good choice.
Kaikora hotel was absolutely astonishing from the meals down at the hotel - which I definitely recommend, to the lovely Alexa in the room to give you just the information you need. Sudima hotel had an amazing heated pool with a breathtaking view of the mountains and beach beside. You can save some money if you book directly through the hotel website after subscribing as a Sudima member.
We really enjoyed the stay in this hotel as it has everything we need - microwave, plates, utensils, and toilet is spacious. The receiption even gave us welcome brownies! It’s so nice of them. One thing is - it would be great if there’s a plug under the work desk. There’s no plug around there, so I need to move around for charging. Maybe can resolve by plug extension, it’s not a biggy! It’s walking distance to pak n save, we did that! And next to botanic garden :)
I stayed in a women-only dormitory.
The location is good, close to the botanical gardens and the bus stop.
In the room, there are luggage storage spaces under the bed and by the window. Both can be locked, but you will need to bring your own lock.
The bathroom and toilet in the room were clean, and provided shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. There was a hairdryer, too!
The kitchen wasn't big, but seemed to be well-equipped. There was a microwave, toaster, and fridge.
The reception staff were friendly!
Suitable for taking children. Our room sleeps 5 people, 3 single beds and 1 double bed. There is a kitchen in the room, the pots and pans are all complete, and there is a refrigerator for your own simple dishes. The hotel is very close to the city centre. Remember to bring toiletries, shower gel, shampoo.
The hotel is opposite the New Regent Street with shops and restaurants and the Cathedral Square just round the corner. Walking to bus stop of Route no. 8 to the airport on Hereford Street is easy and takes less than 15 minutes. There are toilets at the lift lobby for customers before final departure. The room is decorated with beautiful pictures. Nespresso capsules are really a morning treat for customers who need a cup of coffee, rather than the standard travellers coffee sachets.
The accommodation is located right in the city center, so the location is perfect, and the room was also very clean. The only downside was that after parking my car in the parking lot and driving away the next day, I unexpectedly received a parking ticket. However, after disputing it, the ticket was eventually canceled. Still, it did take up a lot of time to deal with, which was frustrating. Everything else was great though.
A newly renovated hotel with friendly staff. It is within walkable distance to the CBD, Park and the ******. Rooms are spacious and clean. The staff are also friendly and there's a restaurant downstairs which is opened to late. Highly recommend and will come back again!
My trip to this hotel is awesome. Everything is great. It is near to town and eating places.
Sparkling clean and helpful staff. Highly recommended hotel.
I highly recommend this place. There is a lawn behind the room where you can sunbathe. It is very clean and you can cook. It is very convenient. The only downside is that there are small flying insects. The interesting thing about the local area is that the hotels do not have screens, so many hotels cannot open windows for ventilation. I am also drunk.

Very Good
GGuest UserI was a bit disappointed. I was expecting this to be a 5 star place, but there were a lot of things that were definitely not 5 stars. The robes were grey and didn't cover bigger people. One of them had pilling all over it, I didn't want to even wear it. The bathroom door squeaked loudly, so if one person got up to the toilet in the middle of the night, it woke the other person up. There were instructions on how to use the spa bath, but not on how to put the plug in. It didn't just plug in normally. We weren't able to use it on our first night which was very frustrating as it was one of our main attractions. I rang housekeeping the next day. Someone came and had a look and said that you had to turn a know on the side of the spa, how would anyone know that? The lock on the door to outside was broken and a small slide lock had been put on. Why not fix the main lock? I used the toilets to the side of the library and when I washed my hands, the tap was all loose and wobbled round. All these things are little but show that the lodge needs to have things fixed or updated. For $300 per night, you expect the best. The worse thing was on our last morning, we got to breakfast about 8:45, the restaurant closes at 9:30 am. There was continental and scrambled eggs and bacon. At about 9:00 am they stopped bringing out anymore bread to toast. No more croissants, eggs or bacon were brought out. There were about 6 tables with guests and everyone kept going up and checking, but they didn't refill. People were saying, they must have run out of food! But for some reason the waiter kept lifting the lids to the egg and bacon to see what was in there, but of course there was nothing as he hadn't refilled it and he was the only waiter!! I was really disappointed and wouldn't recommend it, unless you are getting a really good discount.
XxtingxSupposed to stay here for 2 nights but due to flight cancellation, only managed to stay for 1 night. Super wasted as I think this accomodation is really good. There are Induction for cooking, washing machine and dryer with laundry liquid available. The bed is super big too. Quite comfortable. The space is also very big! Location is near to many food places.
FFayreWe are couple with a 5 year old girl. We paid SGD697.85 (Singapore dollar) for staying 2 nights in this “2 bedroom apartment” as stated.
3 points here to explain the terrible experience.
1. tv remote is not working. I don’t mind the owner making excuse like “ replied customer’s message within 20mins…..” but they actually took 29mins to reply (19:10 till 19:39). In fact, they didn’t manage to change the tv remote in the end. So I stayed 2 nights without using the TV!
2.there is no clear and obvious description that this “2 bedroom apartment” is actually an adjoining unit which means when u walked into the front door then there are 2 doors link to split parts of the apartment. The problem of adjoining units are thin walls are used to split the apartment into 2 small units. When u stay in this kind of apartment, u have to endure all kind of noises from whoever staying in neighboring rooms. We had 2 days enduring guesting from the other room shouting, slamming the door, kids screaming like crazy both early in the morning and afternoon!
3. When I reflect this bad experience with trip.com customer service, this hotel responded like they have no fault at all and played with words. This attitude makes us feel like being fooled. We paid money to expect to stay in an apartment with privacy and quiet environment but indeed we had such a bad experience!
In this market, if it’s an adjoining unit, they should not charge at the rate as if it’s an entire apartment.
I’m alright that they rejected to refund the extra amount they charged. Just have to reflect the facts in the review.
Thanks.
LLLZLClean and comfortable rooms within very close proximity to the airport. We arrived late and it was the perfect choice given that we have a young infant who needs to rest early.
SSukyWe stayed at the hotel for 4 nights just recently, first arrived at the hotel, the reception was polite enough but not as helpful as any front desk staff coud be. The room was clean and comfy, location was fantastic, environment was superb (quite, few hote guests).
But somehow my wife lost her wedding ring from our room. We only noticed by the end of the day, and should have picked up earier.
Mr. Sui Beng Teh, the hotel manager, made it even worse from a travellers point of view. He has the worse attitude to the whole incident, instead of offering his empathy, he pushed responsibility back to the hotel guests who lost the wedding ring in his room at his hotel. His passive aggression is throughout all the poor google review!
He reacted bluntly when questioned about CCTV other than the door access record he could provide immediately, being agreesive at his answer and attitude towards to someone who turned over the room to just look for the missing ring. He was not friendly, empathatic nor welcoming despit he is in hospitality industry.
Im not blaming at anyone here or making any accusation on anyone but he as the hotel manager was the only one we could seek help for in a foreign country, and he expected us undedstanding how police and system worked here. To us, he made us sound like ****** and being forgetful on our own properties.
Ssherlin74loved staying here even for just 1 night. very near to sights in the city, staff was pleasant and room ammenities were great we asked for slippers and toothbrushes which are available all you need do is call and they bring it right up. parking is also available just beside the hotel but with a FEE per day😞 other than that we had a lovely stay🙂
GGuest UserThe location is great, right by the sea, it's very convenient to watch the sunrise and sunset, and the scenery is great. The service staff is also very nice, the room structure is reasonable, and it is quite comfortable for a group of 3-4 people.
The bathroom is not divided into dry and wet areas. After taking a shower in our room 13, there was water everywhere on the floor. This experience is very bad and should be improved as soon as possible.
YYuan3280The man at the counter was very friendly and there was convenient parking. The only drawback is that the sound insulation is not very good. When I checked in in the afternoon, there was still a lot of traffic, so I could hear the sound of cars outside, but it was almost gone after nightfall. There is a simple kitchen but no range hood, and a bathtub for bathing is a big plus! The room rate is very cheap, and it is suitable for travelers who are not too picky about the sound.
HHelloI have given 5 stars to this motel for the service, cleanliness and amenities because each aspect of these beat my expectations! I am usually very conservative in giving reviews.
Initially I was expecting very basic service given it is a motel. But when I opened the door of the room I was quite surprised. You could feel the room is very clean and bright. The amenities are sufficient to make a simple meal for yourself. There is also daily housekeeping services as well (given it is a motel).
The staff at the reception are also very helpful. When I first arrived, the reception lady asked me where I planned to go and showed me the ways.
The motel is also close (5-10 minutes walk) to the Main Street at Riccarton and there are a lot of restaurants there. You can also take bus to the city centre which takes about 30 minutes including waiting.
The motel is also very close to the Christchurch railway station which is only 10 minutes walk, great if you are taking the scenic trains. There are also a number of shops near the Railway station and you can do some shopping for clothes, vitamins and fresh food too!
GGuest UserThis was by far the best hotel I stayed at in New Zealand. Compared to other Hilton properties, the bed here was noticeably larger and more comfortable. I stayed in a twin room, and each bed was around 1.2 to 1.5 meters wide, whereas other hotels only offered very narrow single beds (about 0.9 meters).
There was also plenty of space between the beds, which made the room feel much more comfortable. The room was very clean, well-equipped, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
The location was also decent, making it a very convenient and pleasant place to stay overall.
I would highly recommend this hotel — especially if you’re looking for a comfortable and restful experience.
