The family room amenities were severely lacking. I forgot to take a picture of the bathroom, but it was incredibly small – the toilet stall was like something out of an airplane, and the shower was tiny too. The room itself was long and narrow. Instead of two chairs where they could have fit, there were two beanbag chairs. The 1.5-meter bed didn't feel like 1.5 meters, and there were no nightstands; the charging plug had to go on the floor. There was no bar or coffee table; the cups and tea bags were just placed on top of the mini-fridge. Hotel parking isn't free, costing $25, unless you park on the street, but then you have to move your car by 9:30 AM. The bottom bunk of the bunk bed was so low you couldn't sit up without hitting your head. The breakfast, however, was decent. Check-out is before 10 AM, and breakfast ends at 10:30 AM at the latest.
This hotel is one of the better options in Kaikoura for whale watching. It offers free parking, and if the lot is full, you can also park for free on the roadside by the sea.
The restaurant downstairs is excellent. After whale watching, we didn't want to go far, so we just had dinner there.
As for the room, it's on par with domestic Quanji or Atour hotels, but not quite five-star. Still, for this area, you can't be too picky. It was clean and comfortable, which is what matters.
No one manning reception till spot on 3pm, multiple other Travellers all lining up . Seems I was upgraded to a very spacious room. The usual hotel/motel issues, walls don't have much sound absorption because everytime someone entered or left a room the whole wall moved. Overall comfortable and great value
The hotel is conveniently located right by a bus stop, making it super easy to get to the airport. It's also very close to the commercial center, which is great for shopping. The hotel facilities are a bit dated, but the cleanliness is quite good.
I stayed in North south holiday park on the day of arrival and the night pre departure from Christchurch. It is located about 5 mins drive or 45 mins walk from CHC international airport. You can book their airport shuttle ($5 per pax) during operational hours or the front desk can order a taxi for you at a cheaper price. Amenities are complete and cleanliness is well maintained. The only set back is there is no eateries within short walking distance except burgerking, but not a problem if you come with a car or you can cook at their kitchen(with utensils provided)
The location is excellent, just a 10-15 minute walk from the airport. McDonald's, KFC, and a supermarket are all within a 5-minute walk, and the Antarctic Centre is also right next door. I stayed in a female dorm capsule bed. It was clean, and the shared bathrooms were decent. There's also a common area with a kitchen, including shared refrigerators, microwaves, pots, pans, and cutlery. You can relax on the sofas or hammocks. My bunk had USB ports and power outlets, and there's a locker with a combination lock underneath. For this price and environment, it's a perfect score.
Having stayed in so many hotels across the South Island, this was the first time I felt like I was back in a hotel in China. The plump manager at the front desk personally escorted us to our room and helped with our luggage – truly welcoming and enthusiastic. It's only after coming to New Zealand that you realize how much Chinese hotels pamper their guests, treating them like gods: 24-hour front desks, check-out times at 12 PM or even 2 PM, and amenities like disposable slippers readily available. They also don't rigidly charge an extra $30 per child like in New Zealand. Many hotels here simply don't have a concept of service; everything is pretty much self-service. This Sudima is one of the few hotels that can truly compare to those in China!
The room was spacious and well-equipped with amenities like a pot, range hood, and toaster. Booking early definitely saved me some money compared to booking 3-4 days before. The hotel's location is excellent, and the surroundings are beautiful (P2, P3). It's right in the heart of Christchurch, a 5-minute walk from the Avon River, and about a 10-15 minute walk to the Botanic Gardens entrance. I also walked to the city bus interchange. To get to the airport, you can take bus routes 8 or 29, which are also about an 8-minute walk away.
The front desk staff seemed to be Indian, and communication in English was smooth. I had a booking through Ctrip that suggested I change room types to get the lowest total price for two consecutive nights, which might have required me to switch rooms the next morning. I spoke with the front desk, and she patiently helped me stay in the higher-priced room for both nights (without switching rooms); I just needed to reactivate my key card the following morning.
After 10:30 PM, the hotel's front desk is unstaffed. If you check in too late, they will leave your room key in a coded box outside the main entrance and email you the code.
The only minor issue is that one of Christchurch's ******* is located next to the hotel (P1), about a 5-minute walk away. However, the security at night is actually fine (P4) – it's livelier than Auckland at night. I wandered around until 8:30 PM and didn't see anyone drunk on my way back to the hotel.
The best thing about this Haka in Christchurch is its super close proximity to the Botanic Gardens. Basically, you just cross the street and you're there. As for cleanliness, it's neither outstanding nor bad. The triple room had a bunk bed plus a single bed, with the single bed facing the window. Compared to other Haka accommodations, the layout here felt a bit cramped. Also, the bunk beds in this Haka weren't as sturdy as those in Queenstown and Wanaka – they creaked quite a bit when getting on or off. However, this Haka has plenty of bathrooms, one in the triple room itself and three more outside on the floor, which is really convenient.
At centre of Methven, nice and clean to accommodate even come alone. Recommended

Very Good
This is perfectly good accommodation for the price charged. We stayed in a budget cabin, with shared bathroom facilities - it’s a campsite, after all. Although basic, the cabin was clean and the beds comfortable. There was a shared kitchen where you could prepare meals and chat to other travellers. The bathroom facilities were clean and suitable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. To access the site from Twizel you would need a car.
The room itself was nice it was big enough to fit a family, it was clean. The service is good as the owner emailed us and giving us the instruction on where to park the car, how to enter the room ( as we arrived at 4am ).
The location is very near to city centre but room is a little small. The room is comfy and have a common area to cook and chill and relax. Overall is good.
Everything was great — the room had a washer and dryer, and there was a good variety of food options nearby through DoorDash delivery. Roadside parking was available near the hotel. Just that a dust ball spotted on one pillow
Great location within 100m to Christchurch airport, good gym facility and view of the runway. The whole hotel feel very new and modern. Although it’s right next to the runway, we can’t hear any of the noise at all, breakfast is great with lots of options.
