I was assigned a random room in the South Wing, which was very spacious and had a balcony, decorated in a French style with yellow and blue accents. The hotel has a very old-money feel with many artistic ornaments and paintings to admire. The shuttle bus was punctual and very convenient and pleasant.
This hotel looks really fancy, and the food is great too. However, the soundproofing between floors in the room is terrible, basically on par with a regular apartment building in China. The worst part was when I took a shower at night; water leaked from somewhere and flooded the bathroom floor. I called for service, and a young man came, handed me a few towels, and then tried to leave. I tried hard to make him understand that I couldn't continue staying in a room like that, and that the floor would get damaged if it wasn't fixed. But the guy seemed indifferent and kept insisting on leaving. Eventually, they gave me a different room. It's hard to believe this is Japanese service.
The hotel's location is excellent, just a three-minute walk to the right of Himeji Castle Station. The facilities are modern and the rooms are clean. The front desk is very luxurious with many sculptures. There's also a hot spring bath. It's a great hotel, I'll definitely stay here again next time.
Great location, right between Himeji Castle and Himeji Station. It's just one block from Himeji Station, about a 6-7 minute walk. The hotel is surrounded by shopping and dining areas, including popular old coffee shops and oden restaurants. Himeji Castle is also only about a 6-7 minute walk away, and you can enjoy it just by looking at it from the outside. The hotel is very new, and the rooms are a decent size (by Japanese hotel standards).
The hotel is located near the station, it's then possible that you could hear the sound of trains pass by. Room was clean, size is ok for a solo. There're 2 options for dinner and you can choose when getting a coupon at the reception
First time staying at a Dormy hotel inn and super impressed with the level of hospitality for the price!
1. Public onsen and sauna are available on the top floor. Gender segregated with both indoor and outdoor (rotenburo) sections and the usual amenities. Only the sauna is closed overnight, the onsen remains open. Washing machine and dryer are available on 12F too. The washing machine is free, the dryer is not.
2. Free refreshment once you're done with your onsen. Ice cream at night and probiotic drink in the morning.
3. Free serving of ramen (yonakisoba) at night from 21:30-23:00. Head over to the restaurant at 2F.
4. Breakfast buffet is available and it was honestly quite decent for the price.
Would stay at Dormy again if I return to Japan 😊

Like the quaint yet very elaborate ryokan style of living. The onsen may not be as big and fancy as in noboribetsu but it is still comfortable. I subscribed to their dinner and breakfast which was pretty good. I definitely live the wooden bathtub in my room. They have shuttle services to and from Arima Onsen region. The only complain I have is the weak wifi.

The hotel's hygiene and service are excellent. It's conveniently located 100 meters from Dongpu Bus Terminal, making it easy to catch buses to attractions, though do note that bus frequencies are limited, so check the schedule in advance. On the first floor, there's a microwave, oven, and coffee machine available for guests. Right outside the hotel is a beach, but it seems uncleaned with some litter, and at night, the sea outside the window is pitch black. There's also an Aeon supermarket nearby, which is handy for buying food.
The outstanding feature of this hotel is the balcony on the roof, which has a fantastic view of the castle, equally amazing in the daylight or after dark. The hotel is clean and modern, and the staff is friendly. It's also extremely close to the castle and beside a long covered shopping gallery, with many stores. (This would also be very convenient if it was raining.)
The location of Kobe Lumen Hotel is very good. It is in the city and the parking lot is easy to find. It is in the alley directly opposite the hotel and the price is reasonable. The hotel service is very good. We arrived very late and the check-in time was past, but they did not neglect us and arranged to check in immediately. When we checked out in the morning, we were 5 minutes late and they did not say anything. They were very gentle. The room was very clean and warm. The sound insulation effect was very good and suitable for living. In short, because of the comparison with the previous one, this one is simply heaven.
The only flaw is that the room is a little small. Everything else is acceptable, mainly because of the cheap price.

ZZhezidashuA very satisfying trip to Awaji Island was made even better by our hotel. Everything was arranged in the best way. We changed buses from Kyoto and confirmed the pick-up station through the Ctrip platform. When we arrived, it was still early, so we took the free shuttle bus to go shopping (with luggage back to the hotel). We used the coupons to buy lunch and ice cream at Hello Kitty. When checking in, the male waiters all kneel down to serve, and confirm the information of dinner and going out the next day. The room we stayed in is a single-family round house like a yurt with a viewing balcony and a wooden bath. The details of the room are all local characteristics (dressing box, free mini bar/dessert, washbasin are all petrified wood). The central roof is transparent and empty, and you can also observe the stars. We enjoyed the food here for 5 days, especially the dinner was not repeated and changed in various styles. What surprised me was that the waitress could perform saxophone and flute at dinner, and there was a restaurant like a stage on the island where you could also enjoy the waiter's musical performance. The 20,000 consumption vouchers given for 5 days are enough for you to go out for free at noon. We also bought Hello Kitty exclusive gifts for the children at the Big Apple with the vouchers. This trip to Awaji Island is more memorable than the trip to Kyoto, and the people are simple and honest. Everyone is working hard to promote tourism in Awaji Island, which is worthy of praise. I will bring my children here next time.
小小兔媽媽Matsuya is very quiet and very ”Japanese style” authentic hotel to stay! They operate the hotel very traditionally which is great for me - love to experience the indifference. And the meals are the superstar!!! You will never be disappointed with the quality and quantity of the food they provide! Big Big thumbs up to the chefs!!! And finally weird enough to say,the hot spring they have in the hotel is way better than the famous seven onsen people usually comes to the town to visit for! I super recommend people just go to experience hot spring in the hotel rather than bringing your belongings to try out those famous ones outside😆
LLuk Hoi Ling AmyThis boutique Onsen hotel is great for different Onsen experiences as it provides 2 free private Onsen sessions for you to explore outdoor and indoor Onsen with your friends and relatives without other people.
Food is very delicate and delicious both for dinner and breakfast.
One of my best Onsen hotel experiences with this hotel. Highly recommend to those who are interested in Japan onsen
TThe Travel HunterA wonderful stay at Hotel Okura Kobe. The room was large and very clean, with three comfortable beds that made it ideal for families. The natural light and view added to the relaxing atmosphere. Staff were friendly, attentive and made everything smooth from check in to check out. A truly comfortable and enjoyable stay in Kobe.
GGuest UserAmazing hotel!! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Large room, incredibly comfortable beds, good temperature control. Very nice shower room. One downside was there was only a small table (there we two of us). There was a shared kitchen and lounge area, which were very nice. The coffee was excellent. I would love to stay there again. Very close to the bus stop and whirlpool tour. But public transport on the island is very limited so it is difficult to get to other attractions if you don't have a car. There is local bike hire, but they were out of/didn't have e bikes, and the hills are very steep.
GGuest UserGrand Mercure Awaji Island boasts unparalleled sea views of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and the Seto Inland Sea. Its excellent location, however, makes it best suited for guests traveling by car. Our sea-view room was spacious and comfortable, with floor-to-ceiling windows that made the morning sea sunrise a daily spectacle. Both breakfast and dinner offered a wide variety of dishes; we especially recommend the Awaji Island milk and local onion specialties. However, dining options nearby are limited, meaning you'll likely rely on the hotel's restaurant for dinner. Without a car, finding other dining spots would require a taxi.
The hotel service was attentive, and the front desk staff spoke fluent English, providing helpful guides to local attractions. While the rooftop open-air hot spring bath isn't natural, it was uncrowded, peaceful, and incredibly relaxing with its sea views. On the downside, the facilities are a bit dated, and there's a noticeable lack of family-friendly entertainment options.
Overall, this hotel is ideal for guests seeking serene sea views and a relaxed pace, offering particularly excellent value for money during the off-season.
GGuest UserHad a great stay here! The location is perfect—super close to Sannomiya Station, which made getting around a breeze. The room was nice and spacious, really comfortable. The area is safe and quiet at night, so I could actually get a good night's sleep, which is so important when traveling. Highly recommend!
GGuest UserHotel service was good. Dinner and breakfast was provided as part of the stay. Food was good for the stay since there are not much options for food at Arima. Most shops are closed by afternoon. Though the hotel is old but it’s renovated (except for the old wooden cupboard) which made the stay more pleasant. Onsen is indoor and small so will need to go at hours with lesser people.
GGuest UserOverall, a wonderful place. We highly recommend it. It was a wonderful walk from the station to the hotel, and we were greeted with the utmost courtesy, explained everything, and shown around. We were shown to our room and given instructions. We booked a traditional room with futons, and the view from the window was simply stunning. The onsen includes two hot springs, a comfortable changing area with massage chairs, a sauna, and a cold plunge pool. They give free passes to seven public baths in the village. There's a shuttle that takes you to various walking spots. The prices are reasonable. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. We were very satisfied and would love to come back!
SshkeiThis is my go-to hotel whenever I'm in Kobe. The location is super convenient, right above the Shinkansen and subway stations, with plenty of restaurants and transportation options nearby. The rooms are spacious, bright, and very comfortable, and the service is excellent. It's also really easy to get to the Nunobiki Herb Gardens from here.
