The hotel is indeed quite old and not very well maintained. I had originally booked another hotel, but due to a hot spring malfunction, I had to move here. It's walkable from the station, but the slope is steep, so it's best to use the hotel's free shuttle if you have luggage. There's no Wi-Fi in the rooms, though the mobile signal is decent in rooms on higher floors. The hotel lacks dining facilities, so you'll have to walk back near the station to find food.

This hotel has a unique inclined elevator, like a mountain cable car, which is something you don't see in many places. There are also foot massage machines next to the lobby on the first floor, so you might want to give them a try if you have the chance.

The Sakurazaka branch is nestled in the tranquil villa resort area of Izu Kogen, a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of city centers. It feels more like a place where you can temporarily step away from your daily routine. Mornings are greeted with the cool mountain air and birdsong, while afternoons bring sunlight filtering through the trees and a slow passage of time. In spring, you can watch cherry blossoms drift in the breeze, and in summer, listen to cicadas echoing along the forest paths. Scattered along the way are charming shops, cafes, and gardens with a distinct Showa-era charm, flanked by quietly growing flowers and trees. People come here not for the sake of 'checking off a list,' but to briefly step away from the city's pace, put down their phones and work, and let time slow down amidst hot springs, nature, and tranquility. The charm of Izu Kogen isn't in its grandeur, but in its preservation of a sense of life that is increasingly rare today. It's perfect for zoning out, taking a leisurely stroll, reading, or soaking in the hot springs, and also ideal for spending a few quiet days with someone special. This is my most genuine feeling.

Staffs are friendly and helpful The hot bath is quite nice Free drinks and udon If the weather is good sky is clear, Mount Fuji can be viewed right away. Things i don’t like: Bathroom is compact and the toilet is so tiny that unless you have a micro D, you are going to manual drive every time you sit on it The ventilation is weak almost none, so the room is moist and smell

How do I describe my first impression of Tangoya? When we arrived, the owner picked us up at Izu Kogen Station and immediately took us to Mount Omuro to start our sightseeing. They even took our luggage back to the hotel, allowing us to enjoy a wonderfully relaxed afternoon at Mount Omuro and the Izu Animal Park. Stepping into Tangoya for the first time, I was immediately drawn to the building itself – so cozy, clean, and tidy. The furniture and design details truly showed the thoughtfulness of the hosts. Everywhere you looked was spotless. In the evening, during the blue hour, seeing the lights in our room gave us such a warm feeling, even being in a foreign country. Tangoya definitely played a huge part in our wonderful Izu experience. We had a great night's rest, and the breakfast we ordered for the next day also reflected the owner's careful planning. When it was time to leave, they even took our luggage to Jogasaki Kaigan Station, making our onward journey incredibly smooth. (Eating dinner in Tokyo tonight, we're flying home tomorrow. Wishing the owners all the best and a happy life. We hope to visit again someday!)

It was the best place where my wife and I had ever rested. And the hotel and the whole city of Shimoda is a paradise. We liked absolutely everything. And the hotel employee - Kaori, is an exceptional nature person. She gives her work 200% and is the heart of this hotel. Thanks to her scrupulousness, sensitivity and care, there was a feeling that my mother was taking care of us in the hotel. We will definitely come back again! We advise everyone to visit this city and this beautiful hotel at least once. Upon arrival it was 1pm and hotel offered to store our baggage so that we can head out to have lunch, the check in time was 3pm onwards and that day there was a scheduled power outage. Front desk was very friendly and explained clearly where we can enjoy the daily welcome drink. Breakfast was included and the dining area was simple and food stations well maintained. It is just opposite the train station so it is very convenient for us to come and go to airport. But the best is there is a bus station outside the hotel, we bought tickets to Shiraito Falls and it was valid for two days with unlimited bus rides! We can only see Mount Fuji from the side of the window, but because the bed is parked beside the wall, when I wake up in the morning, I can see a little bit of the majestic Mount Fuji and that was a very good feeling to wake up to. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

This is my second stay this year, and I've had a very comfortable experience. The staff are polite and friendly, the rooms are clean, and there's convenient parking downstairs. There's also a 24-hour convenience store across the street The room also offers a view of Mount Fuji.

However, the hotel is located a bit far from supermarkets and convenience stores, so having a car would make it much more convenient. 🍽️ Food: On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, there are complimentary light snacks provided, which is a very nice touch. The chef was very kind and attentive, and the food was delicious. Breakfast options were somewhat limited, but the taste was decent. 🧼 Cleanliness: The room was very clean, and the bed was soft, warm, and comfortable. 🧴 Amenities: Guests can freely pick up amenities near the elevator. There is also free hot and cold water available downstairs, which is very convenient. 🧺 Laundry: The washing machine service was slightly expensive. 👩💼 Staff: Most of the staff appeared a bit serious, but they were still professional and provided good service. However, they did not smile much or proactively give recommendations as much as I expected.
