An excellent hotel with a historic ambiance. The room was very cozy with cool windows. The bed was good. The hot water and air conditioning worked. The hotel was quiet both day and night. The breakfast was quite adequate for the price. The location is good, close to all the interesting sights but set back from the road, so there was no street noise. The staff was friendly. The grounds are also pleasant, albeit small. I didn't notice any downsides. Some rooms have windows overlooking a shared balcony, so if that's important to you, be careful what you book. The hotel and room fully met my expectations.
This is one of the few modern and sophisticated hotels you'll find in Nepal. I booked a room without breakfast because my schedule was uncertain. After arriving and seeing the hotel's condition, I decided to book breakfast for the next day. The international buffet offered a diverse and clean selection of food, and it was delicious. Amidst the chaos and noise of Kathmandu, I had a quiet and clean stay here and left feeling well-rested. The quality was much higher than a 300,000 won hotel in Pokhara.

All was good except there is no lift/ elevator but still we enjoyed the hospitable and accommodating staff. I enjoyed the buffet breakfast spread. Location was also great within Thamel.
Not in the downtown area, can't see the lake, but there is a distant mountain scenery
The service is very intimate, even if there is no elevator, it will help you take your luggage up, remember to give a little tip 😊
The building is the only attraction but the property seems poorly maintained . The shower mixer was broken , the roof of the bathroom had tears . The switch’s were out of the sockets . Leather bed were torn and the table had ciggrate burn marks . Reminded me of cheap motels in America
Food was okayish , the chicken chilli and chicken wings tasted average and sad their kitchen closed at 10 .
We didn’t have TV as internet didn’t work , ac got fixed after a complain was filed . The place holds a heritage and has housed many Nepali aristocracy, that’s the only best thing other than that it is juts a next door motel you find abroad that is poorly maintained and is trying to cut costs to stay profitable .
The first hotel we stayed at in Kathmandu was next to the Indian Embassy. It had a balcony with views of local Nepalese houses and lush forests, where many eagles circled overhead. Inside, there was a beautiful and tranquil garden. The owner, surnamed Liang, provided us with currency exchange services at a better rate than in Thames. It was a very pleasant experience.

Quite a disappointing stay. I was allocated a room which has no light in the toilet, no charging / power outlet, and no hot water throughout. I only stayed here for a night but I won’t do it for any longer. Boss is lucky to have such nice guys working for him at the front desk.

Its very clean room. Everything was ready upon check in. There is garden in the middle of the hotel with nice rooftop restaurant. Definitely coming back for my next trip.
Sara's Backpackers Hotel is really OK. The location is practical, you can get to important places QUICKLY like the Pashupatinath Temple or the Garden of Dreams. The rooms are clean, but a bit simply furnished. WIFI IS free, but sometimes a bit slow.
THE staff is super friendly and helps with everything, whether it's excursions or questions about the area. Breakfast is OK too, but not super special - just typical of the country. The rooftop terrace is a real highlight, a nice view to relax.
There are also bikes to rent, which is cool. A few things could be better, e.g. the beds are a bit hard and the showers could be more modern. Overall, though, it's good value for money.
Would come back if I'm in the area! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

GGuest UserWe had booked three nights but could only arrive on the third night. I knew I would lose the cost of the first two nights but when it came to check out, I was asked to pay for the three nights, despite having already paid through Trip.com. Fortunately, I had a Nepali friend come to collect us and he spoke with their head office. If he had not been there it would have been very difficult, despite showing the money taken from my bank. This was the second time for this to happen in Nepal when booking through Trip; already paid but being asked to pay again.. Our room had no wi-fi, no hot water and only one seat to sit on outside. The place looked in poor condition, so we were not sorry to only spend one night there.

MmtsanginhkThanks to the tour groups overbooking the west wing I was put into a twin suite room and discovered room service at the Dalai La. Having had weeks of Dahl and rice and noodles, it was great to binge on pizza and burgers. Internet was a bit intermittent on the 5th floor but the room is quieter than those facing the courtyard in the west wing.
KKsomrat🇹🇭❤️🇳🇵 I really like this place. I will definitely come back. All the staff are impressive. It is a solo trip. I am not shy to meet new people in Nepal. This place is not in my itinerary. I booked a hotel in the city for 6 nights. I did not know that there is such a beautiful place. And the view of the famous mountains. Just my heart wanted to come. So I called a taxi to drive me. And try to stay for 1 night. I would like to invite my Thai family and friends to visit this hotel. The food is delicious. The room is clean. Thank you for the happy time here. 🙏🥰🇹🇭

FFengzhengailvxingThis is a treasure hotel with spa, sauna and swimming pool. The front desk is very welcoming and willing to help. The overall facilities of the hotel are great, so it is a great experience to stay. Recommended stay!

GGuest UserExcellent hotel, close to the center of Thamel, but relatively quiet for the area.
