On the surface thus place looks perfect, facing the Indian ocean, with superb sunset daily, and trains passing by, make for perfect IG moments. The room (the ones facing the ocean) seem like a tropical dream come true. I want you to pause for a moment, and ponder these facts:
4 lifts, but all are so slow, going up and down takes a lkng wait, any time of the day.
Key card that malfunction at least twice on 2 separate days, using the slow lift to go up and down, took me 10 to 10 minutes.
Room safe in my room is kaput, I had to call the staff to open the safe fof me, even they couldn't fix it in the end.
Breakfast spread is impressive, but set up is chaotic, seating is tight.
Room windows is not sound proof, noise from the ocean and the train all night long.
It's not near anything, must use uber to go anywhere
The charm of the hotel wore off pretty quickly, by 2nd night, I regretted my decision. So, I recommend staying here only for a night or two, to take nice photos of the rolm, the rooftop bar, infinity pool, that's it. There are better options elsewhere.
Located at the most central avenue of Colombo has very nice view to the Indian Ocean, particularly from the rooftop garden and swimming pool, which probably is the largest in Asia. I was in this garden in 2018 and now is like a roof forest. The gym is well equipped and with panoramic view. The hotel is at the top of the mall, the dream of my wife. Every hour there was a shuttle to a tropical beach just outside Colombo. We did also the complementary half day tour to the city that was well organized. Excellent service and comfort.
Our family of three checked into the hotel during the first week of May 2025. Unfortunately, our overall experience was underwhelming. Room service was disappointing, our order was incorrect, and we chose not to send it back as we assumed it would take a long time to receive the correct one. It also took three separate calls just to receive the room service menu.
Additionally, we were charged for ice despite having an active room service food bill, which felt unreasonable. When we inquired about evening entertainment (Friday eve), the front desk assured us a live band would be performing, but this never happened.
It appeared the resort seems to operate with minimal staff, which may explain the drop in service quality. On a positive note, we were warmly welcomed by a great host at check-in, and the barman at the pool bar made excellent cocktails and provided friendly service. Hopefully, this could be just a rare slip-up.
Pros:
-Territory of the property is huge. Big garden and its all green. There is swimming pool also.
-Big room as you can see in the video. One big bed and one small bed and lots of space in the room
-Amenities such as small fridge and closet are available inside the room.
-View to the garden and the pool.
-Access to the garden from the room with sitting space is beautiful
-Airport transfers are provided by hotel if you provide your flight details.
-Totally worth the price as we booked it under $40.
Cons: -Location is in the opposite direction from the airport to the city. If you have short stay in Colombo and you want to see Colombo as much as possible, the location is not great for you. -Property is not in the great condition as aircondition was leaking and bidet shower was leaking as well
Sofia Colombo is a beautifully designed boutique hotel that blends contemporary style with warm Sri Lankan hospitality. From the moment you walk in, the space feels calm, elegant, and thoughtfully curated — with soft lighting, modern decor, and a relaxed atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease.
The rooms are spacious and stylish, with comfortable beds, sleek bathrooms, and all the modern touches you’d expect from a high-end stay. Many rooms have lovely city or garden views, and everything feels fresh and well maintained.
The service is a real highlight — friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without ever being overbearing. Staff are always ready to help with taxis, recommendations, or little details that make the stay smooth.
The restaurant and bar area are also excellent — whether you’re enjoying breakfast by the pool or evening cocktails, the food and presentation are consistently impressive. It’s a quiet escape from the bustle of Colombo but still close to the city’s main attractions, cafés, and shopping spots.
Overall, Sofia Colombo offers a perfect mix of style, comfort, and personality. Ideal for travellers who appreciate boutique luxury with a local touch.
This hotel is centrally located near all the attractions. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and spacious. The staff is very attentive and helped me with anything I needed. Breakfast is very good. It has delicious dishes. The shuttle service is great for exploring the city or going to the best beaches. The only negative aspect is that my flight was delayed for a long time and I had to check in the next day. I missed my first day, including breakfast, however, the hotel did not compensate me with anything. They never said anything about it. Other hotels at least compensate with something. Do not expect anything from the hotel if your flight is delayed. I still recommend this hotel if you travel to Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Simply fantastic. This hotel is spotless. Everything works. It is grand, quiet hotel.
Service is superb.
The breakfast was fabulous so was room service. Authentic Sri Lankan cuisine was of a superb presentation, quality & taste. Vatlappam was brilliant.
I look forward to when I can return, spend more time and try out the restaurants. Keep it up guys!!
Very nice location. Very spacious room and shower. The only problem we faced was the number of flies in the dining area, many sitting on food kept for buffet
I chose this hotel because I had a night flight.
I was worried that it was a new hotel and not listed on Google Maps, but I managed to get there.
I didn't know what to do when I arrived at the hotel at night, so my taxi driver contacted them.
The owner was very kind! ︎The room was clean, and the garden was cleaned in the morning! ︎

GGuest UserThis hotel is in Wattala which is only 7km from the Fort train station but feels ages away.
Service - excellent. As in all areas of Sri Lanka the staff are very friendly and helpful. All say hello and genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs. There seems to be an army of cleaners and wait staff and again, all are friendly with very good English. The doorman was my favourite with a massive smile and great personality!
There were some issues with the half-board deal I was on regarding when and where you can have the half board - which is only breakfast and dinner although on Trip it reads like you have a choice of when you can have your two meals a day. So just clarify when you arrive to be sure.
Facilities - big open ground, big swimming pool which you could do laps in if you wanted but also with decent steps on the side so younger children can play. There is also a small children's pool too which is adjacent to the big pool and next to the sun bathing area which has around 10 sun chairs in pairs with an umbrella and small table around the grass area, with more chairs and beanbags set up on the higher area.
I have seen big groups playing team games, cricket, football, some weird waterpolo/volleyball/handball game in the pool and even a few keen cricket players today.
Restaurant - the floor level open air restaurant is well staffed, nicely proportioned and the buffet breakfast, lunch or dinner is extensive (if a little repetitive after three days). On some occasions there was live music which was nice and not overpowering, playing mainly English music.
Bar - The Fishery is the outdoor restaurant for al e carte food service and some drinks. You can choose to sit under the roof bar area or under trees next to it, on big picnic style seating.
Gym - this is located next to the pool/restaurant and although it is a bit tired, it has everything you need. The running machines are a bit clunky but at least they work, the weight machines are a little stiff to move but again they are functional. There are free weights and area to work out - even a small space for yoga or stretching if thats your thing. There is also air conditioning - and in 30+ heat, very much needed!
Downside - its a bit hard to get to and you have to take a taxi or tuk tuk (don't pay anything over 5,000 for this!). The beach which you can see and hear, is very close but not suitable for swimming - especially for young children. Also the beach isn't particularly clean - outside the hotel the beach is raked for appearances, but walk 50m to your left or right, and its not too pretty!
Not really a downside but be aware that if you are here in weekend, this place seems to host a lot of parties, weddings and events - which is great energy with lots of noise and atmosphere. It is a lot quieter in the week days. And the pool becomes full in the afternoons!!!

AAnonymous UserCinnamon Lake offers a wonderful overall experience. The facilities are well maintained and comfortable, the food is fresh, tasty, and well presented, and the service is warm and attentive without being intrusive. The peaceful surroundings add to the charm, making it a perfect place to relax and unwind. Overall, it’s a memorable experience that feels calm, welcoming, and worth visiting again.
GGuest UserWE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.
Despite a very good start which involved a very helpful early check-in for our group of four travelers (two rooms) and lots of friendly smiles from the hotel reception team, unfortunately our stay took a bit of a negative turn owing to some confusion over two additional bookings we had made to extend our stay following a change in our plans. I really find it hard to understand why this simple process caused confusion to the duty manager. The following day, despite clearly explaining that we had made additional bookings to extend our stay, the desk staff were confused and claimed that one of the room bookings was not confirmed. The duty manager was dismissive to us and actually ignored us, (even though he had perfectly good English to communicate with us), preferring to speak through another member of the reception team who was standing right next to him. After a wait of at least 15 minutes, I told him that we were not prepared to wait any longer and that he could let us know once the issue had been resolved. This was clearly an administrative problem between the hotel and Trip.com which soured our stay. The duty manager was unprofessional and discourteous towards his guests.
Our experience left us unwilling to use any of the hotel facilities other than the breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet was very good and the staff team exceptional in their service and friendliness. We did use the lounge bar on one occasion and again, found the staff to be friendly and helpful - special mention to Jerushan, with whom we enjoyed a great conversation. He is a credit to the staff team. Perhaps given his people skills, he should be made a manager?!
Other than the reception area, the hotel is very tired and in desperate need of an upgrade. In our room, a light switch cover fell off, some bulbs were not working and the room was dirty - a build up of dust in the corners and on the wardrobe louvres which quite obviously suggested the rooms were only being given a superficial clean.
As said, we do not recommend this hotel and we will not stay here again. We expect far from a Ramada branded establishment.

CCJ12A beautiful building in a very pleasant area of Colombo; the architecture and interior design of the hotel are a joy to behold and the vast majority of staff are polite and courteous. Plenty of amenities nearby to suit all tastes and interests. The breakfasts were great both mornings (both the Sri Lankan breakfast and the Western style), and they really lived up to the high expectations we’d had from the Instagram marketing we’d seen.
We were upgraded to the North West Suite, which was a larger room, for which we were greatly appreciative; a couple of issues with working plugs and appliances (coffee machine and hair dryer) were reported and rectified, although the wiring/plugs more broadly were temperamental and poorly placed (as expected, possibly, with the charm of an older hotel). However, the bed was comfortable, the hotel was quiet, and the bathroom was well appointed.
Our only qualm was with the overzealous Head of Housekeeping, who seemed to not grasp the subtlety required for such a role, or the privacy with which guests might like to enjoy the beautiful hotel. It appeared that he lingered all too often in search of a tip, and didn’t quite appreciate the boundaries one might desire when paying a reasonable fee for each night. My wife and I took to speedily locking the door and placing the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the handle to keep his incessant interrupting to a minimum. His deputy was, however, an asset to the hotel, who seemed to comprehend the subtle art of providing high quality service for a luxury stay in a lovely hotel.
All-in-all, a great choice for a hotel in the heart of Colombo, and hopefully, during a busier season, the aforementioned Head of Housekeeping might spread his overbearing attention across the many rooms of the hotel.

RRohana TennakoonI had a fantastic experience at the newly opened ICT Rathnadipa Hotel in Colombo. From the moment I arrived, the service was exceptional. The hotel is beautifully maintained, with modern facilities and a peaceful atmosphere that made my stay truly relaxing. The food was delicious and offered a great variety of choices.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff who made my stay even more memorable:
Mr. Andrew, Lasantha, Minuri, Erandi, and Dinethma from the Front Office – your hospitality and warm service were outstanding. You all went above and beyond to ensure I felt welcomed and comfortable throughout my stay. I truly appreciate your efforts.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Colombo and look forward to coming back soon!
HH RanatungaThis was a really nice hotel and stay however although check was at 2pm the room was not ready until after 5:15pm. We arrived around 4 and ended up waiting by the pool for our rooms. Otherwise the pool and rooms and staff were very nice and accomodating. The breakfast buffet and the portions at the Steakhouse were sensational 🥰 The view from the room was also really nice.
