Hotel near Kowakidani/Miyanoshita,Hakone

Hakone Hotel Kowakien, a natural onsen hotel offering dinner and breakfast that I'd rate 90 out of 100. It's not easy to impress me in Hakone, the famed hot spring town in Kanagawa Prefecture, but this hotel truly excelled across all criteria, showing a consistently high standard. Both the front desk and restaurant staff were attractive, with fluent English and standard accents; notably, they didn't employ any Southeast Asian staff. The hotel facilities are relatively new and well-designed, and the cleanliness is exceptional. The public areas offer plenty of sofa seating, and the temperature control is precise, allowing guests to comfortably wander around in traditional yukata without feeling cold. The air is fresh with no strong artificial scents, embodying a 'Natural and Pure' concept. The restaurant, named Fontainebleau, lives up to its name with authentic French pastries. The 'all-you-can-eat' style still maintains high-quality ingredients, and there's an unlimited supply of Sapporo Asahi draft beer and Gekkeikan sake. What's more, the self-service alcohol bar is also open during breakfast, which seems quite common for Japanese guests – their physical resilience certainly differs from ours! Observing Japanese dining concepts, you'll notice several characteristics: a wide variety of dishes, comprehensive nutrition, low-temperature preservation, minimal oil and seasoning, and avoiding high-temperature cooking to prevent nutrient loss. The sauna is also quite professional, featuring a 12-minute sand timer, anti-scald mats, humidity and temperature displays, and powerful heating elements that ensure you won't waste any time. Whether you prefer mountain views, garden vistas, or indoor hot springs, there's an option for everyone. The overall cleanliness was good, but because the room was mainly black, the dust on the walls (especially on the top) was a bit noticeable. Also, the lighting was a bit dim, making it difficult to put on makeup. Other than that, it was very good. The bathroom was spacious, and I was surprised to find a place that wasn't a unit bath for this price.

This five-star hotel in Yokohama truly redefines luxury with its impeccable details and sophisticated ambiance. Every moment, from check-in to check-out, was a delightful surprise, making it my top recommendation for anyone visiting Yokohama—a true hidden gem! The hotel's location is absolutely superb, nestled in the charming, exotic Yamashita-cho. It's within walking distance of Yokohama Station and close to popular attractions like Minato Mirai 21 and the Red Brick Warehouse. Getting to Chinatown and Sankeien Garden is also incredibly convenient, making it perfect for both sightseeing and business trips. What truly captivated me was its ”East-meets-West” design philosophy. Inspired by Yokohama's port-opening culture, it beautifully blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern Western design. The art installations adorning the lobby and the Samurai-inspired screen headboards in the guest rooms exude a subtle yet refined elegance, allowing you to feel a sense of vintage charm amidst the contemporary surroundings.

The hotel was located a bit further out from the main attractions. However, with that its also at a quieter area and nice break away from the touristy area. Because of the location, it is also convenient to get to the Gotemba outlet mall. There’s a mountain view outside the balcony. A convenience store and bus stop just right outside the hotel. We felt the breakfast served was underwhelming, and the same food was served on the 2 days we were there. The hotel was spacious and really clean, interior design was beautiful. The hotspring was really nice as well. The staff recommended the Izakaya restaurant called Monta, just few minutes walk from the hotel. The food was really good and open till 12am!

Had a great stay at Hotel Suiun in Hakone! It was my first time staying in a ryokan, and the experience was amazing. The dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the onsen was super relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Really enjoyed everything here — would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Hakone!

I stayed at Yokohama Washington Sakuragicho for two nights at the end of my Japan autumn trip. The hotel is close to the JR line, only about a 5-minute walk, which makes it a convenient base for traveling around. The room size is standard for Japan, and choosing a room with a bay view is definitely worth it. The staff were professional and helped arrange an early-morning taxi to take me to YCAT, where I caught a bus to Haneda Airport—only about 30 minutes away by bus. Although the hotel is a bit outdated, it is very clean. I recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again when I return to Yokohama.

A charming small hotel with a Japanese-style atmosphere. Located in a residential district of Kawasaki, about a 10-minute walk from the train and metro stations. The rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated in traditional Japanese style, featuring a raised futon bed. The large bathroom includes a whirlpool bathtub. Slippers, a bathrobe, and a Japanese kimono for walking around the property are provided in the room. The hotel does not have a traditional reception desk. On the ground floor, there's a cozy lounge where breakfast is served (simple pre-set meals—miso soup and a rice sandwich). A unique feature is the 24-hour access to a selection of several types of sake, drinks, juices, craft beer, and hot snacks in the hotel lobby—all included in the room rate. In summary, a modern hotel with authentic Japanese flair and the added bonus of free sake tasting. Highly recommended.

Room was huge with private hot tub. Breakfast and dinner, both have wide variety, but the food was not warm. The spread of alcohols were fancy. Located just 5 mins walk away is the cable car station, which was rather enjoyable. But super crowded, waiting time more than 45mins. And luckily, hotel provides shuttle bus service to nearest train station, with 3 timing slots. Took about 50 mins of bus ride.

Room facilities: The room was quite spacious. The only minor inconvenience was a step in the bathroom, but overall the facilities were pretty good and well-equipped. Breakfast was simple but very affordable. Hygiene: Good, quite clean. Environment: The location is excellent, very close to the JR station, and the area is bustling with various shopping malls, restaurants, convenience stores, and arcades. Service: Very good, self-service was well-implemented.

A comfortable stay at a reasonable price. The location was a 5 minute walk from the JR line. The hotel provided a decent selection of room amenities in the lobby with green tea. And coffee options for the drinks. The room was a decent size and clean. however the rooms were a little older, they had ample power points but didn't have any USB-A or C ports. They do provide 1 cable dongle with all types that can be used in the room.

YYoshi.C.The staff were all very kind and I had a comfortable stay every day. Thank you. It's a clean, classic hotel, and many of the guests were laid-back, so I felt very relaxed. I went sightseeing during the day, but next time I think it would be nice to relax on the lounge's veranda. The breakfast buffet was also delicious. I loved the curry and stew. I arrived in Hakone by public transportation, so it was very convenient that the hotel's free shuttle service ran from Togendai until the evening. The shuttle service to Togendai after check-out was also very convenient. There was something like a bus stop near the hotel, so next time I would like to check the bus schedule so that I can enjoy sightseeing more flexibly. There didn't seem to be any restaurants nearby, so I'll do some research on that next time.

AAnonymous UserOn the first day, there was a foreign girl serving as receptionist. Since we had booked four single beds, we wanted to turn one of the double beds into two single beds. She agreed with a smile and quickly came over to help us separate the beds and make the sheets. The next day, a local boy rushed to the storage room and gave us several garbage bags when we asked him for them. The scenery here is very good when the weather is fine, even more beautiful than the photos, and there are plenty of parking spaces in the parking lot. There is also a refrigerator, tableware, knives, induction cooker, etc. for us to cook, and there is a large supermarket nearby. It would be perfect if the induction cooker could be moved away from the kitchen. Overall satisfied, will recommend to friends.

GGuest UserThe hotel is cheap and good. It should be said that the room size is the largest among Japanese hotels. The room is clean and tidy, with complete facilities. There is a mountain view outside the window, and the field of vision is relatively wide. It is relatively comfortable to live there. As the flight was delayed, it was already early in the morning when we arrived at the hotel, but the staff was still very welcoming. It's just that the hotel does not have Chinese service, so you need to know a little Japanese to communicate.

~yida~(Lurking)The environment is very good, the hotel is a pleasant experience on the mountain. There are indoor hot springs in all rooms. We live in Room 11 and have a lot of space about 35 square meters. There is a lounge for a smooth drink and food in the hotel, and the breakfast is very good. Will come again next time.
