The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the room was spotlessly clean. My only minor issue was that the hot water wasn't very plentiful, so showers were a bit chilly. However, all other facilities and the overall environment were excellent, with a high level of smart technology. Plus, there's a lovely terrace on the second floor.

The Four Points by Sheraton Kunming City Center is actually brand new, having just opened in May 2025. However, the building itself has a history, as it was previously the New Era Hotel, a landmark in downtown Kunming. After facing business difficulties and closing down, it was taken over and divided between Atour and Four Points by Sheraton. Four Points by Sheraton occupies the higher floors, with Atour taking the lower ones. Its location is truly in the heart of the city, bustling and vibrant, much like Beijing Road in Guangzhou. Large shopping malls like Kunming Department Store and Wangfujing are all nearby. The entire street is a lively pedestrian zone, making shopping and dining incredibly convenient. You'll spot it easily when you enter from Nantong Street. Upon entering, the reception counter is to your right, and a spacious lobby lounge with sofas is to your left. It's a great spot to wait if, for example, your car hasn't arrived yet. After checking in, taking the elevator to the eighth floor brings you to the amenity level. This includes a well-equipped gym, a bar, and the breakfast area. The bar opens to the public in the evenings, with mostly sofa seating that's nicely partitioned for privacy and comfort. The drinks are also reasonably priced; a cocktail costs just 58 yuan. That evening, I had a whiskey sour, and for 58 yuan, it was perfectly acceptable. It's a good complementary feature for a hotel bar. Moving on to the room, you'll find complimentary welcome fruit on the table. To the left of the entrance is the bathroom, complete with a toilet and shower. The room itself is quite spacious with a long layout and a single king-size bed. At the far end, there's a very comfortable armchair with a high back, not a sofa, where you can sit and overlook Nanping Plaza, taking in the entire Kunming city center. Next to it is a desk directly facing the window, perfect for gazing out when you need a break. This entire hotel is a renovated property, with comprehensive and well-appointed public facilities, contributing to a more comfortable stay. When I booked my room on Ctrip, I noticed it was listed as a five-star hotel. However, in my understanding, a hotel without a swimming pool is typically considered four-star. Still, you can usually book a room here for around 400-500 yuan. Overall, the hotel's location is truly excellent. The advantage of being downtown is convenience for everything, but the biggest drawback is potential traffic congestion. For tourists, however, this place is unbeatable. The pedestrian street right below offers evening strolls, snacks, and easy access to various attractions.

The view is just as beautiful as it looks, and location wise it is ideal. The room was clean and stunning views. The food was good when it was available, but many of the options on the menu were not available. Likewise, there was no water in the outdoor pool as advertised. The staff also said they didn’t know how to make cocktails, despite having a bar with all spirits available. Finally, I would recommend AGAINST booking a car transit through the hotel. We ended up missing our train from Kunming because the driver (and her friend, who was brought along for the ride) stopped multiple times, including for long snack breaks, so we arrived 20 minutes after our train time.

The hotel is directly opposite Green Lake Park, so just a few steps from the entrance, you can enjoy stunning lake views and observe migratory birds. This makes it incredibly convenient for a morning walk or an evening stroll. The location is simply unbeatable. Despite its age, the hotel is exceptionally well-maintained, lacking any sense of being old-fashioned or gloomy. Both the public areas and rooms are spotlessly clean and tidy, with an air of sophistication evident throughout. The service was a delightful surprise; from check-in to handling daily requests, everything was handled with exceptional thoughtfulness. The staff were warm, professional, and their attention to detail truly showed they cared. The rooms are tastefully decorated, not with flashy designs, but with a refined and understated elegance. Paired with high-quality amenities, the overall atmosphere was both comfortable and cozy, making for a truly relaxing stay. I would certainly choose to stay here again on my next trip to Kunming.

A hidden gem of a hotel by Dianchi Lake! The rooms are spacious and spotless, the bedding is comfortable, and the breakfast is astonishingly rich – the cured ham pastries are a must-try. The service is attentive and thoughtful, with efficient concierge and warm housekeeping. It's within walking distance to Dianchi Lake, and the garden-style setting is tranquil and delightful. A five-star experience, truly living up to its reputation! A heavenly hotel by Dianchi Lake! The location is absolutely perfect, with stunning lake views right outside the window, and lush garden greenery. The room facilities are complete, clean, and odor-free, and the service is warm and professional. The dining experience is fantastic, making it ideal for both leisure and business travel. My top choice for a stay in Kunming!

This is a very nice hotel, great location, good rooms and excellent, helpful staff. But the hotel gets bad marks in two areas. First, the food was generally very good but the Western breakfast buffet choices were nearly always cold. I tried three days in a row to get poached eggs that were not hard boiled. On the third day I got what I wanted but even then the eggs were stone cold. The second issue was the the lack of necessary security staff. The lobby bar was nice and had a young woman playing guitar in the evenings but on our second evening 4 drunks were drinking, shouting and smoking and refused to stop when the hotel staff intervened. After this things escalated and instead of having hotel security throw them out the drunks started harassing us and it got ugly so we left for our room. The hotel called our room to apologize but it was not equipped to deal with this situation and needs to have better control over their public areas. A lesson to be learned. I will be sending a separate letter to Accor management giving full details of this unfortunate event.

Overall, the hotel offered a great experience. For those nitpickers complaining about outdated facilities, it's a 10-year-old hotel that's been maintained exceptionally well. If you want new, go stay in a formaldehyde-ridden room! The lobby is quite unique and grand. Check-in was smooth with a butler who made communication and problem-solving easy. I forgot to close the screen window when I went out, worried about bugs, and it was sorted instantly via WeChat. The room size is ample, and the balcony view is nice. The bedding is good, and the pillows are comfortable. They even provide bed rails for those with kids. Beyond that, it's a standard, excellent star-rated hotel. There's a courtyard in front of the lobby for relaxing. My wife wanted to try local specialties like Xidoufen and Barener Si, so we skipped breakfast, thus no comment on that. This is also one of only two Tesla Supercharging stations built at hotels in Dali (the other being Junfa Pullman). Tesla isn't stupid, they choose their locations wisely. The location is good, at the foot of a hillside, very quiet. It's very close to the three cableways for Cangshan. For exploring the western route (Dali Ancient City, Xizhou Ancient Town, Hai She Park), this is the best place to stay.

The room view was amazing! I checked in late last night and didn't see the snow-capped mountains, so waking up this morning was a delightful surprise! Davina thoughtfully arranged a room with a fantastic view and proactively checked on our needs upon arrival. There are also various cute little animals in the garden! Although the hotel has been built for many years, it's very well-maintained, and the space is quite spacious. Breakfast was also very rich. We had a very comfortable stay.

The hotel boasts a pleasant environment and friendly service. It features a herb garden, a cozy reading nook, and a movie lounge equipped with a great selection of classic films. I received a complimentary homemade lip balm as a souvenir. I also participated in their unique 'Nie Wa Mao' (clay cat molding) activity, which cost 120 RMB.
