To start with, Chongqing has just one airport. It’s Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG), which serves as the hub for all domestic and international flights arriving in the city.
Furthermore, getting around Chongqing is a unique experience that, for many travellers, is just as fascinating as its spas themselves. Known as the "mountain city", its extreme geography has shaped a varied and surprising transport system.
1. Metro
It is the most comfortable and efficient way to get around Chongqing. The network is extensive, modern and connects most of the city's tourist spots. Payment is very simple. You can pay with the "City Card" transport card or, even more conveniently, by using the Alipay or WeChat QR code at the turnstiles.
2. The monorail (the city's emblem)
It’s integrated into the metro system, but its lines (especially Lines 2 and 3) are monorails that wind between mountains and skyscrapers. It’s the most picturesque way to travel and the best way to get a sense of the city’s topography.
3. Taxis and DiDi (the Chinese equivalent of Uber)
- Taxis: They are yellow and very plentiful. Fares are affordable compared to UK cities. It’s the perfect option for short trips or for reaching hot springs further from the centre.
- Didi (the Chinese Uber app): It is even more widely used than traditional taxis. It is the most convenient way to get around, especially if you don't speak Chinese, as you enter your destination into the app and the price is fixed.

Definitely not recommended on WARM DAYS because the hotel will turn off AC completely. I stayed at this hotel from 5/8 to 5/11, In-room HVAC only worked on daytime when outdoor temperature reached about 30 degrees, in room temperature was cooling down and comfortable enough. However, the hotel shut down AC system at night because outdoor temperature is not hot enough, that leading to in room temperature went back to 27 degrees, I got totally sleepless. Understood the hotel tried to save money on electricity, but AC system is the one of basic amenity systems and should not shut down the mostly of the days.
Moldy grout, moldy caulking are all around the shower, the picture attached. Non adjustable shower head with fixed holder need upgraded. That shows lack of the maintenance for rooms.
Room attendant provided great service she could and made me feel comfortable and welcome.

The room is spacious, clean, and well-equipped, even featuring a bathtub. The single bed is very wide, and the mattress has a comfortable firmness. If you like quiet places, August at South Hot Spring is a great choice! We left after work on Friday and arrived quite late. There's an underground garage, and you can also park on the surface, right at the lobby entrance. Front desk staffer Xiao Zhang provided excellent service, promptly helping us with any issues. 👍
Our room had a private hot spring, and we chose a king-size bed room. The overall room size was a bit smaller than I expected, but it had all the amenities. I personally felt the bedding was a bit damp, and the room was stuffy when we first entered. The air conditioning worked well, though it was quite loud, as it's a bit old. The room also came stocked with potato chips, instant coffee, tea bags, soda, and mineral water, and they thoughtfully provided mosquito repellent. There were helpful notices posted in various places in the bathroom, showing good attention to detail.

This hotel is perfectly situated in Tianxing Town, very close to Tianxing Hot Springs. The rooms are spacious, and the facilities are excellent. The bedding is clean and comfortable. Location: Situated inside Chongqing's landmark 'Grand Sail' building, directly above Raffles City and with direct metro access. Within walking distance to Chaotianmen, Hongyadong, Jiefangbei, and the pier. There are three hotels in the 'Sail' building: InterContinental Raffles City, Hotel Indigo, and Ascott. Ascott is wholly owned by CapitaLand, the developer of Raffles City, so its quality is undoubtedly top-notch.
Facilities: Positioned as a serviced apartment, the public areas are compact yet comfortable and practical. The lobby offers complimentary tea and fresh flowers. A significant portion of the public space is dedicated to guests. The gym is well-equipped with at least two treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes, as well as a full set of resistance machines. There's also a yoga room with river views, comparable to a small commercial gym. It provides hot/cold water, sanitizing wipes, towels, and even headphones with sterilized covers. The swimming pool was closed during our two-day stay, so we hope to check it out next time.
Below the hotel is Raffles City's urban garden, leading directly to a river-view platform – a peaceful oasis amidst the bustle.
Room: We were fortunate to be upgraded to a two-bedroom suite, so spacious it was astounding. It features two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a bathtub in the master. It includes a washer and dryer, perfect for families. The kitchen is fully equipped with a built-in microwave, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and range hood. A complete set of dishes and cookware is provided. The facilities are excellently maintained; the microwave and oven looked almost unused.
The room offers a pillow menu and abundant storage space.
Due to its unique location, Ascott's rooms offer either unbeatable river views, stunning city views, or like ours, views of both.
Service: Special thanks to Miss Genny at the front desk, who was incredibly patient during our check-in, attentively asked about our needs, and efficiently arranged our room. We arrived early, intending only to store our luggage, but to our surprise, we received our room key immediately. We are very grateful.
All hotel staff were exceptionally proactive, friendly, and helpful – carrying luggage, greeting us upon sight, making us feel right at home. The staff member on the ground floor was also wonderful, assisting with getting in and out of cars/moving luggage and patiently giving directions.

The highlight was the restaurant on the second floor. It was good, cleaner and more hygienic than places outside. The iced tofu pudding with honey was the best I've ever tasted, definitely a plus. The waitresses were also nice and quite dedicated, I must say. However, the bathtub water wasn't cold or hot. Even after a equipment update, the overall feel was a bit old. Our flight was delayed, and we arrived at the hotel in the early morning. The male front desk staff on duty was fluent in English and very kind, which made our late check-in smooth.
The hotel room furniture and amenities are a bit dated, but overall they were kept clean.
However, we had a very unpleasant experience at the fitness center. After using the swimming pool, we tried to use the spin dryer in the changing room, but it didn't work. When we asked the fitness staff for help, they rudely dismissed the issue and bluntly said it was impossible without even checking.
Fortunately, when we inquired at the 1st-floor lobby, a staff member named William helped us deal with this issue. He personally accompanied us back to the fitness center and thoughtfully arranged for us to use the staff dryer. We are deeply grateful for William’s professional and kind service.
That being said, the hotel needs to address a few operational issues:
The mini spin dryer in the changing room should be repaired or replaced promptly.
The senior staff member at the fitness center showed a poor professional attitude —shirked responsibilities by pushing tasks onto a subordinate who claimed that day was her first day working at the hotel fitness center (believe it or not), and was impolite to guests.

I absolutely loved the decor style of the Sheraton Chongqing Hotel. It's elegantly European, and from the moment I stepped in, I felt like I'd entered a palace – luxurious and grand. The hotel's location is convenient; it only took 30 minutes to get there from the airport with no traffic, and getting around by taxi is very easy. The room decor is opulent. I read reviews saying the hotel was a bit old, but it's exceptionally well-maintained and looks like it's only 5 or 6 years old. The hotel service is excellent; the front desk staff are very warm and promptly followed up on all my check-in requests. Even for a guest like me with many demands, they were incredibly patient and helped arrange every single thing. This is highly commendable. This hotel is located right across from Bayi Square and is also close to the subway. Stepping out, you're on Bayi Road Food Street, where you can find all sorts of local specialty snacks. The staff were very warm and attentive. When we arrived, they immediately offered us refreshing lemon and plum juice from the hotel's self-service, which was incredibly crisp and tasty. Housekeeping was prompt; they even helped us with laundry while we were out exploring. Food delivery riders can bring orders directly to your room. Honestly, if it's not too hot, a short walk will get you to a ton of great food options. You can easily walk to Jiefangbei and Hongyadong from here, and to get to Liziba, you can take Line 2. Visited with family, had been wanting to come here for a long time. Before arrival, the hotel's guest butler, Yannie, proactively added me on WeChat and introduced the hotel. Upon alighting, our luggage was directly sent to the room. We booked a suite this time, facing Nanbin Road, with Chaotianmen where the two rivers meet to the right. The high-altitude river view was superb. The kids absolutely loved it. The room was very clean; I used a white cloth to wipe the railing in front of the panoramic window, and it was spotless [strong emoji]. Booking a suite included afternoon tea at Bar 62, which offered an unbeatable view of the two rivers converging – what we ate didn't even matter anymore. I left my room key there and when we returned after dinner, it was handed back to us exactly as I left it [strong emoji]. They also provided welcome fruit, a handwritten welcome card, red wine, and dessert. As for the summer special drink and ice cream scoop, we didn't get a chance to try them [facepalm emoji]. The breakfast selection wasn't extensive, but it felt more refined, and there was also an à la carte menu. A pleasant surprise! I randomly picked this hotel on Ctrip and was very satisfied with my stay. The room was spacious, and we ended up staying two nights. The main highlight is the convenient location, right near Jiefangbei, with plenty of food and shopping options nearby. It's easy to get to all the attractions. There's even a pretty good hotpot restaurant (Li Enen Xiaoyuan Hotpot) diagonally across the street. My little one also enjoyed the hotel's pool, and we savored wine and city views from the executive lounge on the top floor. Highly recommend! This is an older five-star hotel, and my stay was just average. They strictly enforce the 3 PM check-in time. We arrived in Chongqing in the morning and couldn't check in, so we stored our luggage and went out. We came back around 1 PM, asked the front desk, but still couldn't check in. They said our deluxe suite had a late checkout and housekeeping hadn't finished cleaning it. We had to wait until 3 PM, so we had no choice but to wait in the hotel lobby. It felt quite rigid, without consideration for basic guest needs. After we checked in, one of the two bathrooms in the suite had a broken overhead shower. There were no welcome fruits, and the hotel didn't have a room service robot, so we had to go downstairs ourselves to pick up our takeout, which was inconvenient. I can only say its advantage is its excellent location; it's very convenient to get anywhere from the hotel. The doorman helped with our luggage once, so that's a plus.FromJPY 15,607

A few extras that made everything worth it were the full- sized refrigerator, with freezer, the washing machine (for which they provided soap as well), dish washer, stove top, towel drier ( in the washroom) and full sized closet. The view was so beautiful and calming as well. Everything about this room was just so nice and exactly what I needed.
I didn’t realize how perfect the location was in relation to almost everything that I wanted to see. When I figured that out, I just got up every day and walked to everything that I needed or wanted to see. It was extremely close to a lot of restaurants, malls, local shops and smaller attractions. I was less than a 10 -15 minute walk to Raffles City Shopping Center where there is a 5 story mall, Movie theatre, roof top attraction with the swing, SKY WALK and also the river front park with amazing views. Same distance for Hongyadong, the viewing platform, the Qiansemen Bridge- if you wanted to walk across the bridge at night- I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! There is so much to see and experience between the hotel and these attractions. Your days will be filled with fun and adventure.

Nanping Chongqing|3.26km from city centre
The hotel is located in Nanping, which is actually quite convenient. It's just a taxi ride across the Yangtze River Bridge, or a 5-minute walk from Metro Line 3. It's an older hotel, but generally clean, though there is a slight musty smell. The suites come in two types: '20' offers a slight river view, while '10', which I initially got, had virtually no view. After speaking to the front desk, they moved me to a '20' suite on a higher floor the next day, which was excellent service. The room also had cute little bears. The hotel breakfast was just okay; for a picky eater like myself, a German brand hotel not offering pretzel bread for breakfast is something I think could be improved. The package also included a complimentary beer, which was very refreshing on a hot summer day. Overall, it offers great value for money. Plus, there's a super delicious beef noodle shop downstairs, which is definitely a bonus.FromJPY 8,063

The hotel's location is excellent, right next to Jiefangbei, with plenty of food and drink options downstairs, which was incredibly convenient. The front desk lady was very enthusiastic and provided excellent service! She even upgraded our room for free! We were very satisfied. Getting around the area was also super easy, with the nearest subway station just a five-minute walk away. Our family had a wonderful time on this trip to Chongqing!
