Before, a hotel was just a place to sleep, but this time I discovered that a staycation, just chilling at the hotel, is a truly unique and incredibly comfortable way to recharge. You don't have to venture out; you can completely rejuvenate your mind and body.
This hotel is like the Haidilao of hotels – the service is incredibly attentive.
I booked all the available wellness classes in advance through the hotel's mini-program, filling my entire day. ******* singing bowl sound therapy, various yoga sessions, breathwork and meditation, body restoration, and different versions of Baduanjin (Eight-Section Brocade) – it was a fully immersive relaxation experience that kept me engaged all day long.
Like Haidilao, the hotel staff were exceptionally attentive and caring throughout. They offered constitution tests, chakra assessments, restorative treatments, guided various classes, and even provided travel photography services. Many of these activities are simply unavailable at other hotels, like meditating and doing yoga at sunrise while watching peacocks.
After check-in, I received a thermos filled with a wellness drink tailored to my constitution. After happy hour, there was a salad, and a warm, comforting soup was delivered before bed. The next morning, another thermos with a hot drink was waiting outside my door. The self-service breakfast drinks were also delicious, natural, and refreshing; I completely lost interest in milk tea after trying them.
The entire hotel exudes a relaxing ambiance. As you step out of the elevator, there's a faint ginger scent. The bedtime fragrance is citrusy, which is incredibly calming, and there are 15 types of pillows to choose from.
I especially loved the white noise machine in the room; it has 9 sound effects to choose from, helping me fall asleep quickly, and it also charges my phone.
Guests also receive custom clothing and slippers. They resemble chef's uniforms and are exceptionally comfortable. Regardless of age or gender, wearing this outfit to classes, meals, or just strolling around felt completely natural, fostering a relaxed atmosphere throughout the hotel, without any sense of formality.

Like many reviews wrote, the water in the pool here is really too hot. It is the hottest of all the hot springs in Shanghai that I have been to. It feels too hot. I visited Qianyun after looking at dozens of places in the area. I wanted to be away from typical city area, have a bathtub and nice outdoor area, and with easy access to Shanghai Disneyland. Qianyun met all those requirements and more! The location was immediately very serene and surrounded by forest, but still easy to access lots of waimai food delivery options. They were also very kind and proactive about sharing information about local restaurants and activities, and provide a breakfast and evening fruit every day. They offer free car transport to Disneyland, and I was excited to use this service but I ended up enjoying my time at the hotel so much that I opted to stay and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere instead! The hotel pets are so friendly - within five minutes the little cat Banban was on my lap and purring.
The room itself is decorated very nicely with all the amenities you need. The bathtub inside is very comfortable and I loved the outdoor hot spring tub as well. The attention to hygiene is very highly emphasized and I was impressed with how clean and luxurious everything felt.
I will definitely visit again and recommend to anyone hoping to have a convenient getaway from the city, or who would like to be near to Disneyland Resort while also experiencing a more peaceful area and for a good economical value and high quality service!

I’m so glad I chose the Mehood Elegant Hotel. It was the perfect location — close to everything, not too crowded, yet not too remote either. I traveled solo with my 14-month-old toddler, and he was absolutely spoiled by all the hotel staff. Everyone treated us with so much kindness and care.
Jerry checked us in and out and even gave me a cute fridge magnet. The breakfast was delicious with so many options to choose from, the rooms were cleaned daily, and bottled water was always replenished.
Xiao Jun also took great care of us, and Yinhe Juan felt like an auntie to us. We looked forward to seeing them every morning at breakfast. They all made my stay feel so warm and welcoming — truly like a home away from home.
I’m incredibly grateful for their hospitality, and if I ever find myself back in Shanghai again, I’ll definitely be booking Mehood.

The room was very comfortable and cozy, clean, and the service was attentive! Our room faced the Bund, so we could enjoy a panoramic view right from the bed. The Bund at night was absolutely captivating!
The hotel's afternoon tea was also a highlight. The pastries were sweet, the fruit fresh, and the salmon sandwiches and tuna mini-burgers were especially delicious. They could even customize coffee to guests' preferences and offered a variety of freshly squeezed juices and drinks for guests to enjoy freely! The afternoon tea was truly delightful!
The hotel's breakfast was equally impressive, not only featuring items from the afternoon tea but also Chinese options like steamed buns, fried dough sticks, steamed yams and sweet potatoes, and various stir-fried dishes. They would also pan-fry salmon upon request, which was wonderfully fragrant and tender!

During the Dragon Boat Festival, I brought my family for a trip nearby. The Shimao Wonderland InterContinental, though I'd heard mixed reviews online, I decided to experience it for myself. After confirming our check-in time and our preference for a quiet room, Hanna from the front desk proactively added me on WeChat. She reminded me that because it was a holiday and there was an amusement park nearby, parking might be tight, advising me to inform her 30 minutes in advance so she could make arrangements. We checked in on Dragon Boat Festival noon, and I was surprised to see the lobby's seating area packed with people and a long queue at the front desk. However, thanks to Hanna's foresight, our room was already reserved, making the check-in process quick and efficient. Our room was arranged away from the elevator, and the soundproofing was remarkably good. We couldn't hear any plumbing from the adjacent rooms or the floors above/below, whether it was the shower or the toilet. This undisturbed experience is a rare find, whether in hotels built years ago or newly constructed ones, a truly effective soundproofing is hard to come by. There was a minor issue with the sink drainage during our stay, which was promptly resolved, showing their attentive service. However, I have to complain about the sink's design; it was a square basin, which easily splashed water, and water tended to accumulate near the faucet – not very practical. Our stay included a complimentary travel photoshoot with three free photos. The photographer was excellent at creating a lively atmosphere, and our family portrait turned out vibrant and natural, boosting our mood significantly! Online reviews for the Western restaurant were mediocre, but the Chinese restaurant, Cai Feng Lou, received many positive comments. I spontaneously decided to try it, worried about not getting a table, but Hanna immediately helped us book a table for that evening. The standout dish in the set meal was the diced wagyu beef – a true test of a chef's skill. Each piece was large, yet perfectly tender, flavorful, and didn't get stuck in your teeth. This mastery certainly justifies the numerous trophies and prestigious brand accolades at the entrance! At the restaurant entrance, there was also an introduction to the Shimao Quarry Hotel's background and construction history. Indeed, many aspects of its design were quite visionary, considering it took 12 years to build! The cliffside light show at 8:30 PM featured stunning opening audio effects, and the fountain design added a lot to the visual impact of the mythological story. The Chenshan Botanical Garden, included in our hotel package, was even more amazing. I felt like I could spend two days there, enjoying nature, the charm of the vast lawn, the beauty of the dawn redwood forest, and the tranquility of the camphor forest. Overall, it was a good experience, but the price was just too unfriendly. Even without it being a major holiday, it was so expensive. 💡 What to pack:
- Most spas provide pyjamas or a T-shirt and shorts set to wear in mixed-gender areas, as well as towels, a locker, and basic toiletries, so there's no need to pack too much.
📌 Standard rules:
Every spa has its own rules, but some are common:
- It is mandatory to shower before entering the water areas.
- In many gender-segregated thermal areas, swimwear is not worn.
- Photography is not permitted in certain areas, especially in changing rooms and swimming pools.
