The room was spacious, and there were golf carts available for pick-up and drop-off. We had a dedicated butler providing one-on-one service. The kids' club, billiards, table tennis, gym, and laundry room were all free to use. What surprised me most was the hot spring – although there were only about 5 or 6 pools, they were great for relaxing after a swim. The pool was very clean, and the water temperature was fine in early autumn, though I imagine it would be too cold for swimming later in the fall. The environment was lovely, with lush greenery, plenty of negative ions, and a central lake. Breakfast was a buffet, and quite extensive. I would have given full marks for everything up to this point, but then someone brought a large dog into the dining area, and the staff didn't stop them. When the dog shook itself in the restaurant, I was horrified – I couldn't even bring myself to eat, feeling like the air was filled with dog hair. I suggest they create a special area for dogs, as sharing a dining space with them is truly unpleasant. I hope they improve this aspect! I booked this hotel with a bit of trepidation, as I noticed it had been open for quite a while when I checked the year it opened. Being pregnant, I was particularly concerned about hygiene. However, upon arrival, the overall environment and service far exceeded my expectations. The service attitude was definitely five-star quality; they even gave me a free room upgrade when they saw I was pregnant. There were plenty of hot spring pools, and the kids had a blast. Breakfast was decent, nothing special but perfectly acceptable. Overall, it was better than I expected. My room was a luxurious suite with private bath tub (around hkd 3000 for two nights including breakfast). Hardware is definitely exceptional. However when it comes to service it is below standard:
1) front desk - service was poor without any greetings such as bell boy. Front desk officers were unhappy without any eye contact when they talk to you. No hospitality at all;
2) breakfast - the quality both food and service were not up to a 4 or 5 star service. Table was not clean, staffs were almost unfriendly, except one female manager and one staff, all staffs were rushing their task and unwelcoming. I believe the hotel management need to motivate their staff ,otherwise, people won’t come again.
3) Amnenties - room is a luxurious suite with private bath tub, massage chair, kitchen , dining table and queen bed. The tub was not very clean, with water splitting . Such a waste as their service was not meeting the standard of what it is expected to be a 5- star resort. (The environment, garden were nicely decorated indeed) The Hot Spring pool is well known but I have’s try so cannot comment.
I won’t come to this resort again, if the service of the hotel haven’t improved. And I won’t recommend travelers with kids who is looking for a family friendly and good service resort.

The Guangdong Hot Spring Hotel, designed to host important guests, is excellent overall!
You can request a shuttle service to get to various areas of the hotel, and there's ample parking. The room key card for electricity was very convenient. The room itself comes with a dryer, a private hot spring tub, and even a colon hydrotherapy machine. The mini-bar offered 3 complimentary drinks, plus 4 bottles of mineral water. The room amenities were great; the duvet and pillows were very comfortable. Room service is also available.
The Orchid Garden area has hot spring pools right downstairs, which is extremely convenient. The pools have hydro-massage jets that feel incredibly good. The swimming pool in the aquatic center is a good size, and there are hot spring tubs there too. Both the breakfast and dinner buffets offer a wide variety of dishes that suit Chinese palates, though there weren't any particularly high-value items.
The only minor drawbacks were that some of the staff seemed a bit rushed at times, and their communication skills could be improved. Also, the low heat and high heat settings on the in-room dryer were indistinguishable, and its drying efficiency was just average. The hotel looked better in the pictures than in real life! Honestly, the overall environment was decent, and there were several pleasant surprises during our stay, like the afternoon tea included in our package and the fruit platter specially provided at the hot spring. However, the downside was the hotel staff's somewhat aggressive upselling. They offered us a room upgrade but wanted an additional 80 yuan per hot spring tub (even though the room I booked already had a private tub!). Also, we had to pay extra for our child exceeding the limit, and this was only for a single entry (a multi-entry pass cost over 100 yuan per person, with no discount for hotel guests). What was even funnier was that each room was limited to 4 bottles of mineral water. We took 5 bottles the first night because we needed more water after using the hot spring, and then they wouldn't give us any more the next day! On checkout day, I wanted to take two bottles of water, but the front desk didn't even have any. Oh well, it's not like we're desperate for those two bottles. The hotel's location is excellent, making it very convenient for getting around. It's close to the East Railway Station, which makes sightseeing or transferring transportation hassle-free. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the overall environment is quiet, and the staff are warm, polite, and responsive to any issues. As for the hotel's dining, you absolutely must try the handmade dim sum at the restaurant on the fourth floor. It's authentic Cantonese flavor, freshly made by hand, and tastes great. Sitting there with friends, slowly sipping tea and chatting, creates a wonderful atmosphere. The buffet at the Western restaurant on the second floor also exceeded expectations – a rich variety of dishes, fresh ingredients, and excellent taste.

I arrived at 7:30 PM and was warmly greeted by a middle-aged (actually quite young) lady in a black suit uniform, Ms. [0573 Hu Baodi]! Other restaurant staff informed me that hotel guests receive a 10% discount on dining, and on Teachers' Day, September 10th, teachers with relevant identification would also receive a discount.
After dinner, I suddenly had a craving for mooncakes... I saw that mooncakes were on the menu... After inquiring with the staff, I learned that mooncakes were selling fast, in high demand, and some varieties were already out of stock... The restaurant manager, upon learning of this, quickly provided a solution – to check the inventory records in the warehouse and help me find the relevant products... It was already 9:15 PM, only 15 minutes before closing time at 9:30 PM. The restaurant manager could have easily brushed me off with excuses like ”out of stock” or ”sold out”... However, this manager did not! Instead, she responsibly handled the issue and tried her best to meet the customer's needs! She personally plated the mooncakes, brought cutlery, and thoughtfully said, ”Closing time is 9:30 PM, but we can extend it by 10-15 minutes if needed!” I couldn't help but ask, ”Why is your restaurant service so good?! Won't this delay your off-duty time?” She replied, ”15 minutes is definitely not enough to eat mooncakes... that would be too rushed...” This manager also enthusiastically helped us change to a fresh pot of tea! When she learned that we were hotel guests, the manager said, ”Then you should enjoy your meals and drinks even more at the hotel restaurant!”... ”Coming to the restaurant is like coming home for a meal!” I never expected such a broad mind and high-level perspective from this restaurant manager! This service philosophy of ”leaving convenience for guests and trouble for oneself” is truly touching! What's more, I never expected a hotel restaurant manager to treat hotel guests like family! I believe this restaurant is not only dedicated to serving in-house guests but also provides a ”home away from home” experience for every customer who dines there!
The entire team at [Dian Cui Fang · Lingnan Handmade Dim Sum · Tea Ceremony] on the 27th floor of [Guangzhou Ocean Hotel] provides excellent service! Excellent location near to Grandview Mall. The hotel is very comfortable with fully equipped kitchen and washer. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are also spacious and clean. The reception at level 15 helps to collect our parcels and the security at level 1 helps to keep a look out for our digi. Our stay at W Hotel Guangzhou was absolutely delightful! A special shout-out to Rebecca from Guest Relations – she was incredibly proactive, reaching out before our arrival to understand our needs and responding swiftly and professionally. It happened to be my child's birthday during our stay, and the hotel thoughtfully arranged a birthday setup and a little surprise, making the celebration feel extra special and bringing so much joy to my kid. The hotel's location in Zhujiang New Town is super convenient for getting around, the rooms are spotless, and the signature W trendy design creates a fantastic atmosphere. Rebecca continued to follow up throughout our stay, patiently answering all our questions and providing attentive service that was never intrusive. This has been the most satisfying accommodation experience on a domestic trip so far! When I made the reservation, I noted that it was for a birthday celebration, and the hotel thoughtfully prepared a cake and some small decorations for us. It perfectly reflects Hyatt's attention to detail and warmth. The room offers a clear view of Guangzhou's famous three towers, and the toiletries are Balmain, which are excellent. Beyond the room itself, everyone from the doorman to the front desk staff was incredibly professional and enthusiastic. Perhaps my stay two years ago was so exceptional that this time the disparity was too great, leaving me very disappointed. Two years ago, I booked an Opera House View room, and the hotel proactively upgraded me to an Executive Canton Tower View room. The butler at that time was also incredibly enthusiastic. So, for our family's Mid-Autumn Festival trip this year, I still chose the Ritz, but the actual experience this time was uncomfortable.
1. I had previously asked the hotel through Ctrip to arrange a butler. This butler, Thalia, might as well have been a robot; her communication was consistently stiff and cold. Any request I made was met with a declaration that it would incur a fee. I understand that hotels face operational challenges and need to control costs, but as a five-star hotel operating under the 'Ladies and Gentlemen serving Ladies and Gentlemen' philosophy, even if a guest's request cannot be met, there should be a more tactful way of responding. The hotel urgently needs to improve its training in butler service capabilities!
2. This time, I booked a Canton Tower View Twin room and specifically requested a high floor. On the day of check-in, I noticed many available rooms on various platforms, suggesting an average occupancy rate. However, the front desk only assigned us to the 26th floor. The first impression upon entering was that it looked like a state-run guesthouse, completely different from the room I stayed in two years ago. Moreover, looking out the window, I could only see the roof of the museum in front, which was very depressing. I immediately went to the front desk to request a room change. Fortunately, a duty manager helped coordinate, and we were eventually upgraded to an executive floor, similar to what I had two years ago. The room decor there was a world apart from the 26th-floor room. The hotel has too significant a difference in room decor between its non-executive and executive floors, which will lead to losing some of its basic clientele!
3. We were upgraded to an executive floor but received no executive benefits. We paid an extra bed fee, but it didn't include breakfast, and the little lion (children's amenity) had to be purchased separately. These are hotel rules, but couldn't there be a better way to handle things to retain customers?
In short, this stay left me quite disappointed with the hotel, and I won't be returning in the future.FromKRW 287,081
