Guangzhou Metro Map 2025 (from Guangzhou Metro Official & Wikipedia)

Guangzhou Metro is one of the most advanced urban rail systems in China. It now operates 17 lines, covering more than 700 kilometres and over 300 stations. The network covers 11 districts across the city, making it a convenient and reliable way to travel for both locals and visitors.

Lines 1 to 6 link the main business areas and major transport hubs. The suburban lines, such as Line 7 and Line 14, extend to nearby districts including Panyu and Conghua. Line 3 goes north to Baiyun International Airport, while Line 2/Line 7/Line 22 connects to Guangzhou South Station, a major high-speed rail hub. The metro also provides easy access to the Canton Fair through Line 8, which stops at Pazhou Station, the exhibition’s main venue.

Several lines also provide easy access to popular attractions. You can reach Guangzhou Tower on Line 3, Shamian on Line 6, and Chimelong on Lines 3 or 7. The APM line in Zhujiang New Town (Tianhe CBD) also helps connect busy commercial areas, offering passengers fast and efficient travel across the city.

For journeys between cities or especially long metro trips (e.g., Guangzhou to Foshan, Guangzhou to Shenzhen), consider taking China's high-speed rail (HSR) or intercity trains instead. These trains are significantly faster, covering 50 km in just 15–30 minutes, while the metro takes over an hour. Although fares are slightly higher than the metro, the time saved makes the train an ideal choice for regional travel.

How to Use Guangzhou Metro: Buy Tickets & QR Codes

Guangzhou Metro offers a variety of convenient ticket purchase methods. Single Journey Ticket (plastic coins) can be purchased at station ticket machines using cash or mobile payment (WeChat/Alipay). Frequent travellers can use the Guangzhou Metro official app or WeChat/Alipay applet to generate a QR code ticket (scan at the gate). Visitors can also buy stored-value Yang Cheng Tong Cards at the service counter (recharge card deposit 20 yuan), which can be recharged and used for buses/ferries. International tourists can now use major foreign credit cards (Visa/Mastercard) to purchase tickets at designated stations. All ticket purchase methods support English interface. So let's have a closer look at how to buy tickets and pay for Guangzhou Metro!

1️⃣Guangzhou Metro Station Ticket Machines

You can easily buy your ticket at the self-service ticket machines at Guangzhou Metro stations. The machines provide clear instructions in English - just select your destination on the touch screen, choose your payment method (cash or mobile payment methods such as WeChat/Alipay), and collect your single journey ticket. Simply swipe your ticket when entering the station and insert it when leaving. Station staff are always available to help you if needed. However, remember to keep your single journey ticket (green round coin) when you travel.

Yang Cheng Tong Cards (Physical Transit Cards)

You can buy and recharge Yang Cheng Tong cards at self-service machines inside Guangzhou Metro stations. These cards require a 20 RMB deposit and can be used on the metro, buses, and ferries. Simply swipe your card at the turnstile to enter and exit. When recharging, please use cash or mobile payment (WeChat/Alipay) at the self-service card vending machine.

Here we have to talk about the current preferential policies of Guangzhou Metro: within one calendar month, if you use the same platform entrance code or the same Yangcheng Tong card to take Guangzhou Metro, bus, or water bus, the cumulative actual ticket expenditure of more than 80 yuan but less than 200 yuan will enjoy a 20% discount, and the amount exceeding 200 yuan will enjoy a 50% discount.

NFC Mobile Payments (Apple Pay & Android)

If you prefer digital payments, NFC-enabled phones (Apple Pay, Huawei Pay, Samsung Pay, etc.) can directly support Yangchengtong. Add your card to your phone’s wallet and tap to pay—no QR code needed! Recharging is easy via the phone’s wallet app.

6️⃣Overseas Bank Cards Payments Accepted for Ticket Purchases

Of course, if none of the above methods apply to you, you can also choose to purchase tickets with an overseas bank card.

Close to GuangzhouEast RailwayStation, 5 min walk. Service is great, they clean every day and give you new supplies of everything, showering, water and 1 coke and beer. Felt like airconditioning didn’t work on the first night, so the next morning I told them and they could change my room immediately. However, some areas do feel a bit outdated in the hotel such as the room decorations, chair and closet. Some stains on the chair and the closet doors are a little damaged. They have a fitness area which is great and a pool which was a bit dirty, lots of dead insects, do note that I went very late roughly around 10pm. The view from the rooms were great.

Conveniently located very close to Guangzhou East Railway Station. The rooms were spotless. The front desk staff who checked us in was very friendly; as we were traveling with seniors and children, they kindly assigned us a quieter room. It's also not far from the metro station, making it easy to explore. Breakfast offered a good variety of options. Plus, there's an indoor pool, which is perfect for kids to enjoy and escape the summer heat. Overall, it offers excellent value for money. We'll definitely be back.

A Truly Exceptional Stay at Fraser Suites Guangzhou My recent stay at Fraser Suites Guangzhou was nothing short of a 5-star experience. From the incredible location to the fantastic facilities and, most importantly, the outstanding service, this hotel truly goes above and beyond to ensure a perfect stay. The convenience of this hotel is unmatched. It's directly linked to the ShiPaiQiao metro station, and the covered walkway means you never have to worry about rain or bad weather. The hotel is also connected to two major shopping centers: OneLink Mall, which is right below the hotel, and TaiKoo Hui, which you can easily access via an underground pass. Zhengjia Plaza is also just a short walk away. You will never run out of food choices here. There are countless restaurants and eateries directly in front of the hotel, and both OneLink Mall and TaiKoo Hui offer an amazing selection of dining options, from casual bites to upscale dining. The staff services are absolutely phenomenal. The team went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. When the refrigerator in our room started making a loud noise late at night, the staff quickly and seamlessly arranged a last-minute room swap for us. The concierge was also incredibly thoughtful, always ready with an umbrella to shelter us to our taxi whenever it rained. Their attentiveness and willingness to help were remarkable. The hotel facilities are also top-notch. The gym, swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi are all fantastic. It was also a pleasant surprise to find a golf simulator available for guests! The rooms themselves are well-equipped with great amenities like a full-size refrigerator, cooking facilities, and even a washing machine, which is a huge plus for longer stays. I highly recommend Fraser Suites Guangzhou to anyone visiting the city. It’s an easy 5/5 stars and I can't wait to return.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Hilton Guangzhou. The hotel is in a prime location, within easy walking distance to the train station, large shopping centres, and plenty of restaurants. The Sheraton in Tianhe is our go to hotel every time we are in Guangzhou. You are at the heart of the Tianhe District and there is food and entertainment surrounding you all within walking distance. Our kids love the pool of this property and the gym is big enough for a proper workout. Would be good if they invested in heavier weights and added some yoga mats in the stretching room. Checkin was efficient and they gave us a high floor room and late checked out as requested. Looking forward to our next stay again soon.

Great location for shopping and dining. The room was spacious, very comfortable, and offered nice views. The swimming pool was a great bonus, and early mornings it was completely empty. On the downside, the hotel sits in a very crowded area, and both the entrance and lobby often feel busy, giving off more of a budget resort vibe. Service was just average — for instance, we arrived more than two hours past the official check-in time after a long flight, yet our room still took another hour to be ready. No alternatives or compensation were offered, which was disappointing.

The hotel room wasn't particularly large, and the decor was a bit dated, but it was still comfortable. It boasts a superb location, right next to the Friendship Store and a large shopping mall, with Guangzhou Zoo just a short stroll away. The toiletries were decent. The buffet breakfast was acceptable, served on the 30th floor, offering beautiful views of Guangzhou's old town. A pleasant surprise was that because I needed to wait for a guest, I requested a late checkout until 3 PM from the front desk, and to my surprise, it was approved! This saved me from having to kill time after lunch and allowed me to enjoy a leisurely lie-in. Overall, a very good hotel, highly recommended. 👍👍👍

I believe cleanliness and service are the most crucial aspects of any hotel, and this Sofitel truly excelled in both. The front desk staff were highly professional and courteous. What truly stood out, however, was the exceptional warmth and hospitality from the Guest Relations team – Kitty, Tina, and Luna. These three young ladies provided outstanding service. Even during the post-checkout follow-up call, they patiently inquired about my experience, and any concerns were promptly addressed. Very impressive! The hotel's breakfast spread was extensive, offering a wide variety of delicious options that clearly appealed to many guests. Overall, a fantastic hotel experience.

We came on a vacation with our families and booked 3 rooms in total. As we decided to choose the stay and dine option on selected nights to indulge in the restaurants within the hotel,we ended having to make multiple booking separately and in different category rooms. As such it was rather troublesome when we need to switch around the rooms on different dates. However, thanks to Ms Gillian from the front desk who was really accomodating and kind to give us an upgrade basis on our highest paid room booking type and allowed us to keep the same room type throughout our 5 nights at the hotel. The suite room was huge and on level 25th floor with a good view. It was very comfortable and we ended up coming back early some nights to chill in the hotel room with our families. It was an extremely pleasure stay which we highly recommend.

I cannot say enough how great the stay at the Asia International Hotel. I arrived in a panic because I was 40RMB short for my long hour and a half taxi ride, but the concierge Ricky came out to the taxi and paid the remainder from his very own money. I was then able to exchange Australian dollars for Chinese RMB and pay Ricky back. Things like this do not happen. The whole staff were amazing and ever so helpful. We took the kids for a two-day trip to Guangzhou and chose the China Hotel, one of Guangzhou's three major hotels from the 1980s. The room was very spacious, having been recently renovated within the last couple of years. It was significantly larger than what you'd find in many modern chain hotels, and it even came with a bathtub. The service was also excellent; from the porters at the entrance to the check-in staff, everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We noticed many international guests staying there. We requested a high floor and were promptly given the 15th floor, which was great. They also provided a complimentary welcome fruit platter and had two mascots to greet the children. We didn't include breakfast, and the room was around 600 RMB, which felt like a very reasonable price. The subway station is extremely close, right next to the hotel, and the museum is also nearby, making it incredibly convenient. There's a good local dessert shop nearby too. For breakfast, if you prefer not to dine at the hotel, grabbing a McDonald's right outside is a great alternative. The hotel is exceptionally well-maintained overall, and the renovations look fantastic. It even has a mini-museum inside! Both the kids and adults were very satisfied. Highly recommended, five stars!

Overall it wasn’t a bad experience but it feels way overpriced for a small room with no private toilet and no shower. I think if you’re someone new to china in general it’s a really good choice to stay here since the staff speak english, but as for the experienced travelers it’s a NO since you can easily get a better room in many hotels close to the airport for way way cheaper prices(with private toilets and showers ofc😂). A historic gem with an antique charm and timeless five-star quality. The sheer scale of the hotel, with its expansive grounds and gardens, truly sets it apart from contemporary five-star establishments. Every piece of furniture and decor reflects a rich history and heritage; indeed, much of the hotel's furnishings are adorned with natural marble and precious woods. The gilded 'Dong Fang Hotel' signboard itself carries a prestige that not every visitor might fully appreciate. The rooms are exceptionally spacious, and the bathrooms are generously sized. The carpets throughout are also among the best maintained I've encountered in any four or five-star hotel I've stayed in. The curtains are fresh and clean, and the room's arrangement is aesthetically pleasing. My stay here was simply wonderful. As my work requires me to stay connected and up-to-date with the outside world, I found all my informational needs met here. With the hotel's own restaurants, you'll have no need to venture out for meals. The fitness center, outdoor gardens, and swimming pool offer perfect opportunities for body and mind relaxation. Guests can also visit the nearby Beiyuan Restaurant for an authentic 'Old Guangzhou' tea experience. On weekends, Yuntai Garden is a great option, followed by a leisurely cable car ride up Baiyun Mountain for some fresh air and a walk. On the way down, be sure to try Shahe noodles, a local dish of intangible cultural heritage. Lastly, every member of the hotel staff was incredibly polite and courteous.

Disappointing Stay at Guangzhou Four Seasons Hotel😧 I recently stayed at the Guangzhou Four Seasons Hotel and unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations for a luxury hotel. First of all, the check-in process was highly inefficient. Despite the official check-in time being 15:00, my room was still not ready by 15:30. The lobby was crowded with guests waiting for their rooms to be prepared, which was frustrating and inconvenient. Secondly, the room facilities were noticeably outdated. The bathtub and shower faucets were loose and lacked the refinement one would expect from a Five-Star hotel. The overall maintenance and quality of the amenities did not reflect the standard Four Seasons is known for. Additionally, the dining experience at Yu Yue Heen, which proclaimed itself as the Michelin One-Star restaurant, was deeply disappointing. The food quality was far from what one would anticipate from a Michelin-starred establishment. It was so underwhelming that I chose to order breakfast from outside instead of dining at the hotel again. On a positive side, the location of this hotel is good without any doubt , the reception staff were proactive, professional and spoke fluent, accent-free English, which was appreciated. Turn down service is provided ( but this is a standard procedure for five stars hotel) However, given that this hotel is housed in one of Guangzhou’s most iconic buildings ( IFC), the lack of upkeep and attention to detail is unacceptable. For the price paid, I expected a much higher level of both service and food quality. At least, the hotel should know, deal is a deal, 1500 check in time means everything is ready for the next customer. After all, they required the customer check out 1200 on time. I hope the management takes these issues seriously and makes necessary improvements. 评分:★★☆☆☆

The environment is clean and well-kept, and one of the highlights for me was the convenient self-service laundry and ironing facilities — a real plus for travellers. The staff were courteous and helpful, even though English is limited for some. I especially appreciated the hardworking housekeeper who kept my room in great shape throughout my stay. The concierge team was also fantastic — very helpful with handling deliveries and kindly keeping my belongings safe while I travelled to Yiwu. It's the perfect way to see the city. I would highly recommend this hotel without hesitation.

This truly is an established hotel that left a lasting impression on me. The front desk was managed by a slim, handsome gentleman whose attitude was incredibly gracious and accommodating, answering every question I had. My first impression was absolutely wonderful! Upon entering the room, a sweet, milky, and fresh fragrance immediately enveloped me, yet it was far from cloying! It smelled absolutely divine, instantly uplifting my mood. What truly surprised and delighted me was that this subtle, long-lasting aroma seemed to emanate directly from the walls! Simply exquisite. The room was incredibly spacious, and all the amenities were exceptionally comfortable and spotlessly clean. This truly is the best hotel I've stayed in all year! The comfort factor was elevated to its peak when, after a relaxing evening bath, I wrapped myself in the huge, thick, and wonderfully soft bath towel. Pure bliss! That towel definitely deserves a special mention. The hotel boasts a beautiful garden-style design, situated right by the river... it's simply breathtaking! The photos I've included were even taken from my bedside, showing off the stunning view! The Chinese cuisine at the hotel was also delicious! My final shout-out goes to the single armchair by the window 😀... Once you sink into it, you absolutely won't want to get up – it's the ultimate 'lie-flat' feeling, pure relaxation! 😂 I'd love to buy one just like it; if anyone knows where to find it, please share a link! Thanks a bunch! I've already declared: whenever I'm in Guangzhou, this will be my go-to hotel! ❤️❤️
