Guangzhou Metro Map

Guangzhou Metro Map 2026 (from Guangzhou Metro Official & Wikipedia)
Guangzhou Metro is one of the most advanced urban rail systems in China. It now operates 19 lines, covering approximately 779.9 kilometres (484.6 miles) and 397 stations. The network covers 11 districts across the city, making it a convenient and reliable way to travel for both locals and visitors.
Lines 1 to 6 link the main business areas and major transport hubs. The suburban lines, such as Line 7 and Line 14, extend to nearby districts including Panyu and Conghua. Line 3 goes north to Baiyun International Airport, while Line 2/Line 7/Line 22 connects to Guangzhou South Railway Station, a major high-speed rail hub. The metro also provides easy access to the Canton Fair through Line 8, which stops at Pazhou Station, the exhibition's main venue.
Several lines also provide easy access to popular attractions. You can reach Canton Tower on Line 3, Shamian on Line 6, and Chimelong on Lines 3 or 7. The APM line in Zhujiang New Town (Tianhe CBD) also helps connect busy commercial areas, offering passengers fast and efficient travel across the city.

Guangzhou Metro Ticket Prices
The Guangzhou Metro fare is calculated based on the distance travelled.
| Distance Travelled | Fare Increase | Total Fare (¥) |
0-4 km | Base fare | ¥2 |
4-12 km | +¥1 per 4 km | ¥3-4 |
12-24 km | +¥1 per 6 km | ¥5-6 |
Over 24 km | +¥1 per 8 km | ¥8+ |
APM Line | Flat fare | ¥2 |
💡 Note: Guangzhou Metro's fare mechanism is scheduled for an optimisation update (票价机制优化) to be completed in December 2026. Current fares may change later in 2026 — please check the official Guangzhou Metro app or website for the latest pricing before your trip.
For journeys between cities or especially long metro trips (e.g., Guangzhou to Foshan, Guangzhou to Shenzhen), consider taking China's high-speed rail (HSR) or intercity trains instead. These trains are significantly faster, covering 50 km (31 miles) in just 15–30 minutes, while the metro takes over an hour. Although fares are slightly higher than the metro, the time saved makes the train an ideal choice for regional travel.

How to Buy Guangzhou Metro Tickets?
Guangzhou Metro now makes payment much easier for international visitors. All stations including the APM line support the four major foreign bank cards (Visa, Mastercard, JCB and American Express), and you can simply tap your card at any gate displaying the card logo to enter and exit.
You can also buy a Single Journey Ticket (the green plastic token 🟢) from station ticket machines using cash or mobile payment. Frequent travellers can use the Guangzhou Metro official app or the Alipay or WeChat mini-program to generate a QR code ticket for quick entry. Visitors may also purchase a stored-value Yang Cheng Tong Card at the service counter, with a refundable 20 RMB deposit, and use it for buses and ferries as well. All ticket machines and apps offer an English interface, making it easy for everyone to use the system.
For short-term unlimited travel, Guangzhou Metro also offers day passes (one-day and three-day), available as either electronic tickets via the app or physical cards at stations, allowing unlimited travel within a set time period without needing to buy tickets each time. Let's have a closer look at each option and how they work.
1️⃣Contactless Payment with Foreign Bank Cards 💳😍

My stay at Jianguo Hotel truly exceeded expectations; this is not just a perfunctory, run-of-the-mill good review.
The overall ambiance is sophisticated and elegant, without the noisy, overly commercial feel. The common areas are clean and grand, with thoughtful details throughout. The room was tidy and spacious, the bedding soft and skin-friendly, ensuring a particularly peaceful night's sleep. The bathroom facilities were excellent, with stable hot water and quality toiletries.
The staff were warm and polite, not overly enthusiastic but attentive in every way. Check-in was efficient and quick, and requests were promptly addressed, making the entire stay comfortable and effortless. The location is convenient for getting around, with plenty of amenities nearby.
Compared to trendy, overhyped places, I much prefer this kind of reliable, understated, and quality accommodation experience. It’s quiet, clean, and comfortable. I will definitely choose Jianguo Hotel again on my next visit.FromJPY 8,807

Our stay at this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way, and we are truly happy that we chose to stay here. From the very first moment we arrived, the experience already felt warm and welcoming. We especially want to give a huge thank you to Connor, who made such a strong first impression on us. At first, some of the staff greeted us in Mandarin, but once they realized we were speaking English, Connor immediately approached us with such professionalism, friendliness, and great initiative. He made us feel comfortable right away and handled everything smoothly with genuine hospitality. His attentiveness and positive attitude really stood out throughout our stay.
We were also very happy to receive a high-floor room, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The room itself was spacious, clean, modern, and very comfortable. Everything was well-maintained, and you could really feel the quality and attention to detail in both the room design and housekeeping. The bed was comfortable, the atmosphere was relaxing, and overall it was a perfect place to rest after exploring the city.
Another lovely surprise was the complimentary treats arranged by Connor, which we truly appreciated. Small gestures like this really make guests feel valued and cared for, and it shows how much effort the hotel puts into customer experience.
The breakfast was also one of the highlights of our stay. There were many delicious options, and we especially loved the live station for cicongfan — it was honestly so good and something quite unique compared to typical hotel breakfasts. Everything tasted fresh, and the variety was excellent every morning.
Because we enjoyed our stay so much, we eventually decided to extend for a few more nights instead of moving elsewhere. That alone says a lot about how satisfied we were with the hotel, the service, and the overall atmosphere.
The location is another big plus. It’s very convenient, and right beside the hotel there are several great local food spots to explore. We especially loved the wonton noodles nearby — definitely one of our favorite meals during the trip. Having good local food within walking distance made the stay even better.
The only small suggestion we would give is that some parts of the room could benefit from a more modern renovation and perhaps a fresher fragrance to elevate the luxury feeling even further. The room was still comfortable overall, but with a more updated design and a fresher ambiance, the experience would become even more perfect.
Overall, this hotel gave us such a memorable experience thanks to the excellent service, comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast, and strategic location. Special thanks again to Connor for going above and beyond to make our stay so enjoyable. We would absolutely come back again.FromJPY 14,243

The room was spacious and very clean. It was centrally located directly above a mall which was very convenient. It was family friendly and the staff were fantastic with providing us with amenities for our children. There is a small playroom in the common area well suited for small kids under five years old. The swimming pool unfortunately was not open. However, there was a hot tub, sauna and steam room available to use. The room had a small kitchen and was well stocked with plates, bowls, cutlery, and a big fridge. The view from my room can see a sliver of the Canton Tower. Regardless, it was a nice view with city night lights. I enjoyed my stay and look forward to coming back.FromJPY 18,777
