Taipei Massage Guide: Types, Prices & Where to Go

Massages in Taipei

Massage centres in Taipei offer very different experiences, from foot reflexology at the city’s many massage parlours and acupressure treatments to luxury hotel spas and the hot spring facilities in Beitou. This Trip.com guide will help you navigate the capital’s wide range of massage and spa options.

💖 Best massages in Taipei: which treatment should you choose?

Before booking a massage centre in Taipei, it is useful to understand the characteristics of each treatment and the type of pressure applied, so you can make an informed choice about what best suits your tastes and needs.

Foot massage

Foot massage in Taipei

A foot massage in Taipei is one of the easiest treatments to fit into a tourist itinerary. Sessions generally last between 30 and 60 minutes and can also include the legs, shoulders, and neck. In specialist centres, foot reflexology is usually offered as a standalone treatment, without the additional services typical of a spa. Ximending is one of the areas with the highest concentration of establishments offering this type of massage, many of which are also open in the evening and at night.

Full body massage

The definition of a full-body massage in Taipei can refer to quite different treatments. In centres that use traditional techniques, acupressure and deep tissue massage prevail, while in spas, treatments integrated with essential oils and relaxing approaches more focused on general well-being are more common. A full-body massage usually lasts an hour, but longer sessions are also available. It is advisable to check the technique used in advance, especially if you prefer light pressure and gentler treatments.

Thai massage

Thai massage in Taipei

Particularly appreciated for its dynamic approach, Thai massage in Taipei is distinguished by its combined use of acupressure and passive muscle stretching. Generally performed without oils, it is an excellent solution for improving joint mobility and progressively relaxing muscle groups. In Taipei, Thai massages can be found both in specialised centres and in spas with international menus that often combine them with complementary treatments such as hot stone and foot massage.

Head massage

Often fluidly extended to the neck and shoulders, head massage in Taipei is perfect for relaxing after a long day in the city. By working in a focused way on tension in the cervical area, it helps to alleviate urban stress and fatigue related to getting around. Methods vary from one establishment to another, so it is always best to check the duration, techniques used, and parts of the body involved in the treatment before booking.

Head massage in Taipei

Lymphatic drainage massage

Lymphatic drainage massage Taipei

Choosing a lymphatic drainage massage in Taipei means opting for rhythmic and gentle movements, generally lighter than traditional massage techniques. This type of treatment is often chosen to help reduce excess fluid, providing relief in particular after very long flights. For those looking for this type of treatment, it is worth choosing a centre that clearly indicates its technique and duration, as the name could be associated with different types of services.

Massage with sauna

Typical of urban thermal oases, such as the Beitou district, the sauna massage in Taipei fits organically into the local traditional culture. Exposure to steam or the hot water of thermal baths can precede the massage and contribute to a more relaxing experience overall. The Radium-Kagaya International Hotel, for example, is a hotel equipped with a spa that combines thermal facilities, steam baths, a sauna, and holistic wellness journeys. This type of treatment requires a significantly longer stay at the facility compared to an isolated session in the city centre.

The staff were incredibly welcoming. As soon as I entered the room, I could feel the hotel's thoughtful and cozy decor. The private hot spring bath was huge and even had a cold spring water pool, which was perfect for a refreshing rinse after a soak. The mini-bar in the room had a great variety of drinks. In the afternoon, they delivered complimentary fruit and snacks, and in the evening, there was even plum wine for a nightcap – absolutely fantastic! I stayed for two nights and got to enjoy two different breakfasts, both Chinese and Western set meals, which were incredibly rich, refined, and delicious.

The room is clean and big. There is also a small patio ,but unfortunately it was raining, so we didn't get to enjoy it much. The spring bath inside the room is a bonus, very relaxing and no need to go through the hassle of being naked in public bath. The spring water bath made my skin smooth and soft. The hotel also has public bath and will offer 2 free entries during our one night stay. Will definitely consider to come back again as it's so convenient to get to, only 35 minutes from Taipei station.

Its clean to perfection with minimalistic style of high-end japanese style onsen. i loved wooden floorings in the rooms , great hot spring bath with convenient hot spring water and mountain water taps so you can regulate the temperature you like. outside atmospheric is so amazing natural you wake up and feel yourself like somewhere deep in the jungle forgetting for sometime that you are close walking distance to Xinbeitou station. This trip exceeded all our expectations! The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful during check-in. When they learned it was our anniversary, they even upgraded us to a Maple Forest Room and surprised us with a lovely small cake in the evening, which made my wife very happy. The hot spring quality and facilities were top-notch. Although the water filter in the indoor water dispenser needed replacing, the staff quickly provided bottled mineral water. Overall, the minor flaw didn't detract from the experience. Highly recommended!

This was a pleasant stay. We were traveling with a child, and I had specifically requested a high floor in my Ctrip booking notes. To my surprise, the hotel really paid attention to it! The hotel has 30 floors in total, and they put us on the 29th floor, which was absolutely perfect with fantastic views. **Cleanliness:** The room had a separate wet and dry area, and the toilet was smart and very clean. **Transportation:** The hotel is located right above Wanhua Railway Station. You just turn a corner from the ticketing hall of Wanhua Station and you're there. It's also only a 5-minute walk to Longshan Temple MRT Station. **Local Food:** Around Longshan Temple MRT Station, there's an Oyster Vermicelli shop (diagonally opposite the 50 Lan milk tea shop) that you absolutely *must* try. The flavor is great and it's generously portioned. I dare say you won't find a better oyster vermicelli in all of Taiwan. Remember, next to the oyster vermicelli shop, there's a place selling grilled sausages – grab one of those too. Vermicelli + grilled sausage = a perfect combination! There's also a night market in Longshan Temple in the evenings.

As per other reviews, the location is perfect. It is linked to the Taipei Main station. The hotel can be accessed through the basement via exit M6 (staircase but sheltered) and M8 (escalator, but need to cross the road). The downside of the room is the aircon faces and blows directly on the face when laying on the bed. It can be disturbing when sleeping. The hot water shower and basin tap is a challenge to adjust, as it is not the normal turn to the red sign for hot water. The front desk staff are not friendly, they usually do not have smiles.

We recently stayed at the Dinosaur Kingdom Family Room and transferred to a Premier Twin Room the following day. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The staff were consistently kind, helpful, and accommodating, which we truly appreciated. We especially enjoyed the family room—it was thoughtfully designed and perfect for traveling with a young child. I had initially planned for a two-night stay in this room, but unfortunately, renovations were scheduled to begin the following day. This was a bit disappointing, as it made our time there feel quite short, especially with other activities already planned during our trip. In comparison to other five-star hotels we’ve stayed in, I did find the lack of flexibility with early check-in a bit surprising, particularly for the themed room. We had hoped to settle in earlier, and similarly, the following day’s transfer to the Premier room was not available early as it was fully booked. While this was different from what I’m used to, I do understand that this may be part of their standard protocol. On a positive note, we loved the buffet, and the rooms were very comfortable. The complimentary drinks were a nice touch, and the playroom area was excellent—clearly designed with families in mind. It was also lovely to see the hotel organizing activities for children. During our stay, there was a special event (like a children’s appreciation day?), where me and my baby were able to participate in arts and crafts and even received small prizes, which made the experience extra memorable. The swimming pool was decent, though not very large, and the water was quite cold, so we ended up enjoying the bathtub instead. One area for improvement would be cleanliness. We noticed visible dust in the room, which was concerning—especially since the room is designed for small children, and for someone like me who is diagnosed with allergies to multiple types of dust mites. I did raise this with Lara at the lobby, who kindly apologized and mentioned she would inform housekeeping. However, upon transferring rooms the next day, I still noticed dust in certain areas, which made me question the thoroughness of the cleaning. Separately, I also observed that some toiletries (such as conditioner and lotion) were nearly empty upon arrival, suggesting they may not have been checked or replenished prior to our stay. Despite these points, we genuinely had a pleasant experience overall and would consider returning. I’m also excited and curious to see what the next theme for the family rooms will be after the renovations.

Spacious room. Service is good. Most of the female receptionists are friendly and helpful. Bfast is good too (hotpot buffet - without meat, rice bowls, unli drinks: coffee, juice, soda). As read in some of the reviews, its kind of difficult to find the assigned room as it has a lot of hallway turns. Perfect location directly at MRT (BL16). The hotel rooms are of decent quality. However, if you dislike being in room without window, think carefully about booking it, even if it is much cheaper. If you spend time at daytime in your room, it is better to invest the money to get a room with windows. But talking about the windows, they need a urgent cleaning from outside! 1. Misleading Entrance Signage Upon arrival, we followed the signage pasted on a pillar that directed guests to a staircase entrance. However, when we reached that entrance, we were shocked to find the door marked with the sign “来宾止步” (“Guests Stop Here”). When we raised this with your staff, we were told that this entrance has not been in use since the COVID-19 period. While we understand that certain operations may have changed during the pandemic, COVID-19 restrictions have ended for more than two years. If the primary entrance has been permanently closed, why has no corrective action been taken and the misleading signage still left there? Carrying heavy luggage up and down a sloped path unnecessarily was frustrating and avoidable. 2. No Staff Assistance or Clear Signage at the New Entrance When we finally located the new entrance, there were no staff members on standby to assist us, nor was there any clear external signage indicating that this was the correct way to access the lobby. The explanation given later was that all staff were away assisting with parking which is not acceptable. At least one person should have been assigned to remain at the entrance, or the last person leaving should have arranged for another colleague to cover the position. In addition, the Operations Director mentioned that there is signage inside the new entrance directing guests to take the elevator to the lobby. However, this logic is flawed. If guests cannot locate the correct entrance in the first place, how could they possibly see a sign placed inside? 3. Poorly Trained and Unprofessional Front Desk Behavior After struggling outside, we called the number listed on Google. Only then did someone finally come out and lead us in. By that time, we were exhausted and upset. When we confronted the front desk staff about why they ignored us, despite us clearly visible outside the “来宾止步” glass door, making eye contact and knocking for help, but they claimed they “did not see us.” This excuse was clearly untrue, as we observed them looking in our direction. Even more disappointing, none of the front desk staff offered an apology even until we requested to speak to the Operations Director and asked him to review the CCTV footage. After reviewing the footage, the Operations Director confirmed that the front desk had not been alert and apologized on their behalf. However, he did not acknowledge that the front desk’s attitude and lack of sincerity were also serious problems. Being “not alert enough” and showing no sense of apology or empathy are two entirely different issues. As an international hotel, the front desk is the first impression of your service. Regardless of the quality of your facilities, this poor experience completely overshadowed the positive aspects of our stay. It also severely damages the reputation of Kagaya Group — a brand that has long been admired for its exemplary Japanese hospitality and politeness. Although we appreciate the Operations Director’s effort to make amends by offering us a meal and gifts (which we declined), it remains undeniable that this incident reflects a failure in staff training and management oversight. We hope that management will seriously review this incident, especially the issues of: - Inadequate and misleading signage at the entrance - Lack of staff presence and assistance upon guest arrival - Poor front desk awareness and unprofessional behavior We trust that Kagaya Group will uphold its proud tradition of service by addressing these problems promptly and ensuring no other guests experience such treatment in the future. Thank you for your attention.

The Z8 exit, which connects directly to the subway station, is right in front of the hotel entrance. However, there are no escalators, making it incredibly difficult to carry heavy, large suitcases up. It's actually more convenient to use the escalator at the K12 exit in the opposite K section and then cross the street. The room I stayed in this time had a great view and was a good size, not too small. However, the refrigerator wasn't cooling at all, so it wasn't suitable for keeping water, beer, or other drinks cold. It probably needs repair or replacement. The hotel is within walking distance of Ximending and conveniently located for using Taipei Main Station. The Airport MRT station is also close by. Overall, the facilities are clean. As for amenities, only basic toiletries are provided, so you'll need to bring your own personal hygiene items. Room cleaning needs to be requested by filling out a form and submitting it a day in advance. You can pick up complimentary bottled water from the 4th-floor lobby. Towel changes and trash removal can be requested on the same day. Usually, if you inform them before you head out, they'll take care of it while you're gone.

We stayed for 3 nights with 2 adults and 1 toddler, including breakfast. Pros: Excellent location: Direct access from Exit Z8 of Taipei Main Station's underground shopping mall. All hotel facilities are on the 4th floor, except for the breakfast area: a play area for toddlers, a dedicated play zone for children, and complimentary snacks from 2 PM to 4 PM (redeemable with room key). Bottled water is available for self-service all day. Reasonable room size: Plenty of space to move around even after unpacking. Responsive staff: Provided reasonable assistance promptly. Breakfast on the 37th floor: Tables are well-spaced, offering great views. Some dishes vary daily, including tea eggs and ********* sausages with chicken drumsticks. Areas for improvement: Exit Z8 is convenient but has no elevator. You'd need to go out one block earlier for elevator access. To get from the room to breakfast on the 37th floor, you need to change elevators. The hotel doesn't proactively clean the room, but you can request trash disposal and towel changes.

✈️ Massages at Taipei Taoyuan Airport (TPE)

A layover at Taoyuan Airport (TPE) doesn't necessarily have to be just a waiting period. For those with a few hours to spare before boarding, there are several practical ways to turn your time into a rejuvenating break by treating yourself to a massage at Taipei airport.

Plaza Premium Lounge

Plaza Premium Lounge Taipei Airport

The Plaza Premium Lounge is one of the most flexible options for those who don't want to stray far from the departure area and want to get a massage at Taipei airport. It is located in four different spots, between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, all situated on the fourth floor, after security. It offers paid massages on request, showers, private rest areas, and a dining area. Opening hours vary between the different locations (the one in Terminal 1 Area D is open 24 hours a day) and you must have a boarding pass to enter.

Oriental Club Lounge

Also within Terminal 2, on the fourth floor, you'll find the Oriental Club Lounge. It's a more intimate lounge compared to the Plaza Premium, but it has a real highlight: high-end massage chairs available for passengers. The facility also offers showers and a buffet with freshly prepared dishes until 22:30, while the relaxation area remains open until 23:00. Entry can be purchased or is free for holders of specific premium programmes, making it ideal for unwinding in total independence.

Those with more time on their hands, however, might consider the Hyatt Regency Taoyuan International Airport. The hotel is located just a few minutes from the airport (adjacent to the exit of the MRT A14a Airport Hotel station) and offers a free shuttle to and from the terminals. The property features a full-service spa with massages, body treatments, a sauna, a steam room, and an indoor pool. To avoid any issues, it is essential to factor in the time needed for transport and the subsequent security checks.
💡Useful tip: before deciding, carefully assess the time you have available. Internal lounges are the safest choice for short layovers, while the hotel requires a significantly larger time margin (at least 6-8 hours).
