Traveling with my mom, we chose Hotel Lotus-no-Yu in Kyoto, and it was the most memorable hotel of the trip! It has a very distinct Kyoto charm, is conveniently located very close to Kyoto Station, and the staff are polite and gentle. Since it was close to a holiday, there were a lot of people, which led to some crowding, and we had to queue for breakfast (you can get a number online first and then go down when your number is called). However, the breakfast was very rich. The onsen was very comfortable, and I would definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Kyoto; I imagine the experience would be even better if we avoided holidays. The only thing is that you have to take off your shoes at the entrance, and when there are a lot of people, it can get a bit smelly. It would be great if they could do something about the odor. đ

As is common for Japan, the rooms are quite compact, but this hotel boasts excellent facilities. They provide Pola brand toiletries, and everything felt spotlessly clean. The public bath was also immaculately maintained. The staff were professional and courteous. Its location is a major plus, offering a very convenient walk to Kyoto Station. While the price might be a bit higher, it's absolutely justifiable for the quality and convenience offered.

This European-style hotel is centrally located in Kyoto, close to the subway and bus stops. Downstairs, you'll find restaurants, convenience stores, and a Starbucks. It's also not far from Nishiki Market and the shopping street, making it an excellent location. There's a free spa on the top floor, perfect for relaxing after a long day. The hotel even has its own chapel. Special praise goes to the breakfast, which offers a wide variety of options, including ice cream! The service staff are also very friendly and approachable.

The hotel is a nice stay but with some obvious shortcomings. The main drawback was breakfast. For a four-star hotel, the breakfast was underwhelming: bland taste, and things that should be hot, like tempura and harsh brown, were all cold. It was not vegetarian-friendly, esp in the hot savoury section. I mentioned this to the hotel, who confirmed their lack of accommodation for vegos. The window to the bathroom also stays slightly bright thru the night, so it might affect light sleepers. Otherwise the location is fantastically close to Kyoto station with many nice restaurants nearby, easy bus access to the shrines, and the onsen was pretty decent. Laundry is free as long as you purchase the detergent.

I brought my parents to Kyoto and we stayed at this hotel. The triple room was incredibly spacious, much larger than the double rooms I've stayed in before. It was clean and tidy, with excellent hygiene. The private onsen comes highly recommended! My parents also had a fantastic stay. All in all, it's a perfect score!
Service: Check-in was at 3 PM, and the front desk service was thoughtful and thorough. They explained the hotel facilities very clearly. (If you don't speak Japanese, there are staff who speak English.)
Facilities: It's a very traditional Japanese-style room, which my parents loved. The public bathing area was also very clean, and the private onsen was super comfortable. The hotel signage was clear, and every detail was meticulously thought out â really impressive!
Breakfast: The buffet breakfast offered a wide and diverse selection, with both Western and Japanese options, and plenty of delicious desserts! We were absolutely stuffed~
The room facilities are good, with Japanese tatami. The bathroom, washroom, and toilet are separated, but not cramped (if not, the space would be very large).
The breakfast was a bit unexpected (first time traveling in Japan), it was a full salty breakfast, sashimi, soup, etc. (with a small dessert). My 10-year-old child is not used to such a breakfast, and I am not used to eating sashimi in the morning, but it is a beautiful presentation. There is no coffee for breakfast.
The hotel is located in a quiet residential area, which may not be the most convenient for bringing children;
The service staff is very enthusiastic and polite, but their English communication skills are limited, and there are a few small things (cancelling breakfast, not cleaning the room, etc.) that need to be repeated and confirmed several times.
The overall feeling is still good.
I chose this hotel for my trip to Amanohashidate. Aside from being a bit far and inconvenient without a car, everything else was fine. It offers great value for money; the decor is a bit old but very well maintained. There's just one thing I hope they can improve: when checking in, perhaps they could ask if guests need help laying out the futon. I ended up sweating after trying to put on the duvet cover myself, making my shower a bit pointless. It would be helpful to offer assistance for those unfamiliar with setting up Japanese futons.

I stayed at a Dormy Inn in Tokyo many years ago and still fondly remember their complimentary evening noodles. This trip was a bit of a nostalgic return, though I didn't expect so many people enjoying the noodles; there was a queue every night. The hotel is very close to Kyoto Station, making transportation incredibly convenient, and the breakfast spread was also excellent. While the room wasn't large, it was well-laid out and fully equipped. Check-in was a very friendly process, and self-checkout was quick and easy. The only downside was the slightly subpar cleanliness; on the day I checked in, I noticed an odd smell near the toilet, which only improved after I cleaned it myself. Also, continuous stays don't require an extra cleaning fee, which Ctrip had misleadingly suggested.

Nice neighbourhood, with familymart just steps away from the house. Great house with hotspring. Enjoyed the evening with families. Had a good breakfast provided by the hotel. If we have enough time, would like to explore the neighbourhood in the daytime next time. Great stay.

IiamnotdelicateThe basic room type isn't in the main building; you have to walk up to the main building each time to have breakfast or soak in the onsen (hot spring). And it's not a real onsen; my friend's superior room was the real onsen. We were given a small room at the back of the hotel, but thankfully there weren't too many graves.
When I asked the staff at the entrance to take photos for me, they were very reluctant and had a sour face. At night, on my way back to my room from my friend's, the receptionist on duty in the lobby was also very rude. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service.
The facilities are excellent, very new, and the hotel is quite small, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. The decor is also very nice; the aesthetics are on point.
There are at least three cemeteries and a bunch of shrines nearby; bring some amulets if you like.

DDmitry NateWe stayed at this guest house in early March. We were delighted! The guest house is located near the bus stop, you can walk and enjoy the views of the village. There is also a transfer. The dinner was simply gorgeous, delicious miso, a large selection of vegetables and broths. Breakfast was also good, although not so varied. Very beautiful garden. The guest house itself is in a traditional style đ the owner gave us instructions and a tour, was very polite and friendly. The guest house has some rules, for example, keeping quiet, which creates an atmosphere of complete relaxation. The room itself is clean, the bed linen is fresh, there are instructions on how to lay out the futon. We were given yukatas and warm sweaters, towels and accessories for washing and brushing teeth. There are hair dryers too. There are two onsen, male and female, they alternate to visit each. When we were there, the onsen opened on schedule, but there is enough time to stay. The barrel with hot water is simply gorgeous, in the open air, around the forest. It is forbidden to take photos and videos on the onsen territory. Sorry for breaking the rules, but I wanted to capture this beauty at a time when no one was there. The only thing I missed was some kind of bench next to the onsen in the open air so that you could cool off and sit in the hot water again. But this is probably a purely Russian habit.
We were very pleased with our stay in this guest house.
GGuest UserThe hotel is next to Sanzen-in Temple, and is a Japanese inn style. It was a bit cold to stay at night in December. The area is not large. I wanted to see the red leaves of Sanzen-in Temple, but they were almost fallen when I arrived on the 5th. If you want to experience it, just stay for one night. Overall, it is not as convenient and comfortable as a star hotel. Breakfast and dinner are not bad, but not amazing. Take it as a Japanese cultural experience.
AAnonymous UserA perfect experience! The hotel's location is incredibly convenient, right near the subway station.
The annex has a dedicated check-in area, and they offer Chinese-speaking service, which is fantastic! The minibar is well-stocked with free drinks and alcohol, very generous of the hotel. The provided pajamas are also super comfortable~ Most importantly, the private onsen in the room is amazing. After a long day of exploring Kyoto on foot, relaxing in your own private bath in your room is pure bliss â¤ď¸ 100% perfect!
GGuest UserIt wasnât that close to the Jr station
But there is a bus stop in front of the hotel, it can take you to most the area for a tourist, like Fushimi Inari Taisha and Kiyomizu-dera
The room was clean, size also good for one person
But the hot pool wasnât so clean, maybe during the new year holiday, there were many visitors, host didnât clean in time, need improve
EElNinoooooooooThis hotel was recommended by a friend, and even though it's a 4-star, it's far better than some 5-star establishments.
Location: Excellent. It's close to the subway and shopping malls, with various major brands right across the street. It's also near Kiyomizu-dera Temple, just a few minutes by taxi, making it perfect for getting an early start during autumn foliage season.
Facilities: Well-equipped. It boasts two rooftop onsen baths, one indoor and one outdoor. The lobby offers complimentary drinks, coffee, and ice, available for self-service at any time.
Cleanliness: Spotless.
Environment: Very good. The rooms have a lovely Japanese style, though they are a bit small.
Service: Quite good.
KKC333We loved our stay at Hotel the Mitsui. Super nice and zen design . Absolutely adore their lobby area, which I think is designed by Andre Fu. Always drawn into his work somehow.
Breakfast food was okay, but the view really made up everything l. Super relaxing & beautiful
Service was great. Most of them were able to speak English proficiently.
Thereâs a thermal spring at their basement, which you have to call the reception before you go to ensure thereâs enough space. Everything was well prepared, including swimwear, disposable underpants, towels, water, etc. Since they control the # of people, everyone has their own space and it still feels very private.
Room is nice with many details. Love their huge selection of pillows available for guests. Itâs not huge, but the space is well used.
Location wise, I wouldnât say itâs the most convenient, but if you take a cab, everything is reachable in 20 mins max, so itâs not too bad. There are still good restaurants and touristy places to go that are in walkable distance, so itâs not middle of nowhere.
Overall, fantastic experience which I will recommend for others!
