Amazing
Stayed 4 nights at Celestine with my mom in a Twin Room. We chose this hotel due to it's location in Gion - and after walking around Kyoto and seeing other areas, we are happy to have chosen Gion. The early morning walks and after-sunset walks are magical in this area and we did them every day. Hotel staff are great - always willing to help. They assisted us with checking availability of tea ceremonies and restaurants. Public bath is great - I used it nightly. Very warm, very peaceful and discrete. A highlight. Breakfast was another reason we chose Celestine - great reviews online. Most places in Kyoto open 10/11am, some even at midday. Finding breakfast is difficult, unless you're happy to eat 7-eleven. Breakfast was varied and delicious. The tempura was fantastic. Salmon, miso, salads, yoghurt, honey, fruits, pumpkin, broccoli, eggs, pastries, sausages, bacon, mini toasts with toppings, coffee, mixed juices. Worth it to have the convenience of breakfast included, especially with early mornings, the breakfast starts at 6.30am. Only downside was the harsh lighting overhead - directly in eyes and over faces. Lighting needs to be indirect/redirected for it to be enjoyable and calming. If you're a morning matcha-needing person, Kafe Coffee is a 7 minute walk away - they open at 7am with amazing matcha. From the hotel, we walked mornings and evenings. and proximity to Kiyomizu-dera was a few minute walk away. Seeing the temples and winding streets almost exclusively before and after crowds was highly valued. Concierge services and taxi assistance is needed in Kyoto - easy to get assistance with at Celestine. Aesthetically, the hotel tends to be quite dark. It's a 'hushed' tone more than a peaceful one. Skews more towards business hotel than holiday retreat - materials, lighting, furniture. Personal insight. Hotel beds were comfortable enough and pillows typical Japanese small pillows - oh what we would pay for oversized soft pillows for a good sleep :) The shower bath area would be the primary drawback - dark black plastic is more masculine than peaceful. Room TV was tiny - didn't expect to comment on the TV as we don't typically watch it but after 25,000 steps during the day, you want to put a movie on and zone out. For an overwhelmingly foreign clientele, all electronic fixtures like remote, AC are in Japanese. TV has an English menu when you can navigate to it, however there are only local channels with one CNN channel. Movie channel, like other hotels, would be most welcome. Celestine is recommended for location in Gion. The upside is proximity to Kiyomizu Dera and gion streets. Very clean. Great breakfast. Wonderful staff. Public bath a highlight.

The location is convenient, 1 stop away from Kyoto station and just a few mins walk away from Umeikoji Station. The facilities are good and clean at all times. They have themes for each level’s amenities, like that they have a snack, music, library area. They also have onsen! Snack bar serve alcohol too! Free flow! The ume sake is so good! Definitely will want to go back again. The staff are all so helpful and helped us to arrange for luggages to be sent to Tokyo for our next leg, no fuss at all.

Superb experience in Nohga. Everything here has been curated very carefully, you can tell the people or group behind this whole hotel concept really put in so much thought for their guests. Absolutely loved my entire stay here. I eat breakfast at their bakery every morning. Love their customisable bagels, mortadella sandwich, salted bun and cinnamon mochi donut. Chocolate mochi donut was a little too sweet. Americano and matcha latte were great. Thoroughly enjoyed their rooftop bar every night (opens till 12am). Awesome vibes, very romantic atmosphere. Staff are sweet, gives heat packs and blankets to keep us warm. Warm cocktails are a must during winters. You can order any random cocktails and they all taste so good. The distance from the train station to this hotel is quite a distance but I think the overall experience you get in this hotel makes the walk a worthwhile one. Def recommending this hotel to my friends who wanna come to Kyoto.

Everything was superb with the one exception, for an onsen hotel that have one of the selling point, in room onsen bath, the water was just regular hot water, why would I need to stay at an onsen hotel with in room onsen bath if any bathtub with hot water would do? Trip.com site did not specify that it wasn’t hot spring water. But luckily there was a better room with actual hot spring water supplied to the room available for upgrade, so I spent the extra to make my stay absolutely perfectly memorable.

The location was great just 10 minutes walk from Kyoto Station East Exit.Next to a Avanti Mall that you can go to subway through underground route.Free drinks and snacks for hotel guest at lounge from 10am to 530pm. There is free luggage storage at level 1. Only thing is that room seem a bit dusty for those with sensitive nose. Bed and pillow is a bit soft for those that like firmer type.

The hotel environment is very beautiful. The lobby is very nice. The front desk staff was very friendly and spoke fluent English. The welcome snacks are delicious and feel very warm. The room is absolutely spacious and can accommodate a lot of luggage. The nearby bus station is very convenient for going to nearby attractions in Kyoto, but it is far from the subway station.

I had a truly wonderful stay at Rihga Royal Hotel Kyoto. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality and professionalism of the staff were exceptional. Check-in was smooth and efficient, and every staff member I encountered was warm, welcoming, and attentive to my needs. The room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped with thoughtful amenities, making it extremely comfortable after a long day of exploring. The hotel’s location is excellent—conveniently close to Kyoto Station with easy access to major attractions, yet peaceful and quiet for a good rest. One of the highlights was the hotel’s shuttle service, which made transportation incredibly convenient. The breakfast selection was impressive, offering a great variety of both international and Japanese dishes served with high quality and freshness Overall, Rihga Royal Hotel exceeded my expectations in terms of service, comfort, and convenience. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kyoto—whether for family travel, business, or leisure. I look forward to staying here again in the future. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommended!
